So...out of curiosity, but does the term 'Film Emperor' an actual term used in real life? It's used so often in CN novels that I become curious now. And I know that it's usually an exaggeration in novels, how everyone admit one person as the 'Film Emperor', but is there a person in the entertainment industry in real life, that if they were called the 'Film Emperor', everyone would unanimously agree? Or just give me actor/actress names that you think would suit the term~
Some actors and actresses do earn nicknames like that. A local example would be Fernando Poe Jr. who is known to be "Hari ng Pelikulang Pinoy" (King of the Philippine Film). Such title is good way to make sure that their image and names stick to the people's mind.
It actually is (afaik). 大满贯影帝 (Grand Slam Emperor) – means an actor who won the Golden Rooster Award, the Golden Horse Award, and the TVB Anniversary Award for Best Actor/Actress in a Leading Role. So "film emperor" would be either that or someone who won just one award, I guess.
It's the Chinese honorific for Best Leading Actor. It's only limited to certain well known awards like the Oscars or Golden Horse etc. The female term is 影后 (Film Empress).
No, different culture, people would just laugh or dismiss title like that. The only thing that comes close is King of Pop which was Michael Jackson, but it was more of a nickname, not something to earn or inherit. There are no previous or afterwards kings of pop.
