Hi guys, When I plug my flash drive into my laptop, I can't access anything even after clicking on the icon and after a few seconds, it disconnects and shows a message saying the drive didn't eject properly. From what I can tell, the flash drive doesn't have any kind of damage. My computer's a MacBook Pro from 2014 that's updated to the latest version. Do any of you know how to fix this issue? My flash drive didn't have this problem a few hours ago. Please help
Try plugging your flash drive on a different computer. If it works then i think your usb port is the problem.
I've restarted the computer, nothing changed. The ports are tight as well. What do you mean by " updating the software for that flashdrive"?
I've tried it on a different computer as well, same problem. I blew on the flash drive too. Same thing.
Because the content of the USB drive might be run through software, uninstalling and reinstalling might be an option. To be honest, normally if the USB stop working, it is dead to me.
Since it worked fine couple of hours ago, Prolly the drive got corrupted or something(Usb cable/ socket) got a loose connection~
Have you tried plugging in the usb into different ports? Have you tried using a different usb to see if you can open that? Have you tried plugging in the usb into a different computer? If it does not work in a different computer and/or another usb works on the Mac may mean that the usb in question may be damaged.
and its mac. probably they roll out update to phase out your old machine so you buy a new one. jk. really, do Star's advice. If your mac is broken, try not to plug other usb for a while until you bring it for repair. Otherwise, you might fries your mac..
Plug another USB device, if it works, your flash drive is the problem, if it's also not working, then your USB plug is the problem
Drench the flashdrives usb connector in isopropyl alcohol rated 90% or more alchohol, then use a cotton swab or a qtip inside the connector to clean any oil or debris that may be inside, be gentle as some drives have easily damageable pins. let it dry, give it a go in a usb port that you know works for other usb data devices. Just to be sure, you should test it in a device that hasn't been used with this flashdrive before. If it doesn't work, then I do believe that your usb device is fubar. (f$%@ed up beyond all repair) They don't really have any moving parts to be fixed. If you have valuable data on it, a specialist may be able to recover some or all data from it, but you are looking at a cost that starts around 300$ and goes up fast. If you can get the drive to connect without being ejected, you could look into some data recovery tools, even if the drive won't read. I can't give you any good software ideas without searching google, cause I'm a windows guy.
Hi...Have you tried this flash drive on another computer? Does it exhibit this behavior there? Have you tried other ports on the computer? Does it exhibit this behavior there? Have you tried another flash drive that works without problems on another computer? Does it exhibit the same behavior?
If all else fails, call customer support or if you have warranty, check with the supplier (apple) to see whether the usb port is spoilt or not. Or use the flash drive on another laptop to see if it's working or not.
Never used a mac or I-whatever, but on windows you can reinstall or update usb drivers so try that if you can. My wifi will go on and off repeatedly, usually if I go over 2mb/s I think coz I had several wifi adapters and their drivers are interfering. Too lazy to figure out which one I need and delete others.
