    WHO WANTS FREE FOOD!?

they say that food is a way to gain some love. you know, the best way to one's heart is through their stomach. and don't you love it when someone gives you some food?

so, do you have any memorable experiences of getting free food or of sharing some food?
i don't know, like when your parents told the kids to share the food and that shitty sibling of yours instantly licked all over the food so he can get that food all for himself.

also, why do old people like to give you food? like the grandmas who love to feed you lots, or that nice lady in the neighbourhood who loves to hand out some cookies, or that old man who loves to offer kids some sweets from his white van. will you grow up to be like them?

anyway valentine's coming up, make sure to give yourself some love with a nice meal or chocolate or something.

Back in high school, I used to bake a lot and I would share it with the teachers and my classmates not for the glory and praise I get (it totally is) but because I feel happy just being able to give:cookie::cookie:. Although I stopped soon after because ingredients cost a lot and mom has to pay the electrical bills from my baking :blobsalt:

Instead of baking for myself now, I would probably just buy a small little treat from the cake shop just for convenience's sake :blobshh: but yes , moving on to the more important question on hand. WHERE IS MY FREE FOOD?!:blobcat_knife::blobcat_knife:

Ai-chan is baking chocolate, cheese and blueberry cakes with Waiwai and Iris. So tomorrow we'll have 3 cakes for the dude to sample. Iris will be taking a slice of her own cake home tomorrow. Her mom wanted to taste the first ever cake Iris is making.

When I was child the aunts and uncles gave all me and my cousins the choice of chips, cookies or an icecream. My favourite cousin chose the chips, ate all of them and asked me to share my icecream. When I said no, he licked it and told me I should just give it to him. I yelled "Nah!" at him and he slapped it out of my hand, so I beat him up. Grandma saw us fighting so we both caught hands from the fastest old lady in the North lol. My cousin's a grown man and father of two kids now and we still laugh about it. Sometimes when I go to visit him he'll wait til he has my attention and then he'll lick whatever he's eating and stare at me. He's a funny bastard and it's just our sense of humour. I don't think we grew up, just got older.

I'm one of 46 grandchildren now, but back when I was a kid there was only around 20 of us. Our grandparents would come back from the weekend markets every Saturday afternoon with a big plastic bag with giant jaffas in it. We'd all dutifully line up when summoned and get one each, say thank you and then scarper outside to play again.

I lived in a bunch of places growing up since my dad's work required a lot of relocation and travel. In every neighbourhood I grew up in, the adults would give out free baking, fruit, vegetables etc - sometimes it was for us kids and sometimes it was to take back to our parents. The well-behaved kids were also often allowed to take the ripe fruit from the fruit trees on several neighbour's properties, because they couldn't use it all and you shared what you had back then no matter what your class/status was. It was also very common to go around to neighbour's houses with home cooked meals if they were sick or had mobility issues, or they were old, even if you didn't know them. It didn't matter. Your community was like an informal extended family of sorts.

If I'm going to eat I always offer the people around me to share it. I don't tend to eat around other people unless they're eating with me, or they're already full and I'm very hungry. I always give the other person/people equal shares of the food because it's how I was raised. I loathe people who eat first in front of people who are obviously hungry and then offer scraps. People are not vermin, don't leave them your scraps.

Whenever I'm buying food (supermarket, cafe) and I see someone who is struggling to pay I will pay it. I learned it from my parents and both sides of my family are like this. My grandparents are like this, my siblings and most of my cousins, uncles and aunts are the same. My mother bakes once every two weeks to donate breads, cakes and biscuits (cookies for the american folks) to a charity she works for. The food is distributed to families in need in a coordinated volunteer effort.

Sharing food is great. It creates bonds, strengthens existing ones and makes people feel good.

Eating together does lend itself to bonding moments lol.
My fav one was when I told my sis that if I ate another bite, I'd explode.
    She handed me a fry.
I hugged her around the shoulders and ate it. :p
