    A failing kingdom
And its people with their self interest

    FOREWORDS
This is the 1st round of Kingdom Royale - Unification War.
The GM this time is @brasca123.
This for once is not actually a template! \(^^)/
This game will reuse some of the old KR mechanics and introduce a few new twist in the game, I hope you enjoy it!
Many thanks to @Aca1814ina for helping out with lots of things in my original plan of the game while still maintaining the original concept and respecting my opinion through the whole thing.
With that said, let's get onto it!

    RULES
    1. Sign up at http://forum.novelupdates.com/threads/kingdom-royale-interest-thread.12055/. Each game will be hosted on a different game thread.
    2. No private messages between participants about the game (meta-gaming). Private messages for other purposes are allowed.
    3. You are forbidden from giving any form of clues/hints/or [Kingdom Royale] related remarks outside from this thread and each secret conversation chat rooms.
    4. While I appreciate that RL takes precedence, please inform me if you're going to disappear for a while.
    5. Observers are forbidden from giving any form of clues/hints/or [Kingdom Royale] related remarks to the players.
While you are not forbidden from chatting casually or joke around (in moderation) in the game thread and each secret conversation chat rooms, it is highly probable that you might accidentally slipped some clues. So unless you are 100% sure that your post does not contain any of the mentioned above, please refrain from posting. I highly recommend you to ask anything you do not understand privately to the moderator of the game instead of in either thread and chat rooms.
      This also apply to ghosts.
    6. Global forum rules apply.
    GAMEPLAY OVERVIEW
    1. Day and night cycle take twenty-four (24) hours each, counting from the start of the phase, unless it is unanimously voted to be ended early. Both day and night can be voted to end early.
      • It is suggested to all players that if they do not have any intent of doing other actions on the current phase, that they vote to end it earlier so as to not delay the game unnecessarily.
    2. Before the [Day Phase] end, each player may select another player to form a private chatroom for the night. This does not need the consent of the other player. Both players will then be transported into the private room, where they can talk, deal, scheme, or attempt to murder each other without anyone knowing. If a player fail to specify a person, it will default to "no chat" option.
      • Choosing a partner for the [Night Phase] can be done either on the thread or on your role assignment chat.
      • Skills unique to roles do not need the player to be on a night chatroom with their targets to be activated.
    3. Each role has a different victory conditions. The game ends when all surviving players have met their victory condition.
    4. All players start with 8 HP.
    5. All players will recover 1 HP at the beginning of [Day Phase].
    6. All players are given a knife, which can be used to [Stab] the other players regardless of roles. [Stab] may be done once per cycle, either day or night.
The knife will disappear once it has been used it to stab someone. A new knife will be given to each player who has lost it on the next day.
    7. Each [Stab] will reduce the remaining HP of the target by 4.
    8. Attacking with the [Stab] action during daytime will be announced to everyone, whereas attacking at night will only be announced to the target (in the night chatrooms). However it can only be done to the attacker's conversation partner.
    9. Defend mechanic:
      • If you still hold a knife (refer to point 6) and you're stabbed at the [Day Phase], you can 'defend' against stabs, and the damage received will be halved to 2 HP.
      • If a player set up stab (and is set up to be stabbed) at the same time through scheduling, I shall deem defend to not happen. All attacks are received in full.
For example, if A scheduled to stab B at end if day and B scheduled to stab C at the same time, the scheduled stab to B shall be received in full.
      • At the [Night Phase], the defend mechanic does not apply.
    10. You can schedule your [Stab] actions with conditional order.
    11. Roles will NOT be announced upon death. Nor will players be informed of their remaining HP.
    12. If THREE cycles (day and night) have passed OR five players have been eliminated, sudden death will occur. During the sudden death, no HP will be regenerated.
    13. If THREE cycles (day and night) have passed AND five players have been eliminated, double death will occur. During the double death, the [defend mechanic] is nullified, i.e. just hurry and die.
    14. The game will only end when the Victory Conditions for all living roles is achieved.
    15. If amazingly the game goes on for SIX cycles (day and night), the Mummy end is triggered.
    Possible Conditions for [Stab] Schedule
You may only schedule [stab] action with the following condition:
    • [Stab] @ by the end of the [{day/night} Phase]
    • [Stab] @ at the beginning of the [{day/night} Phase]
    • [Stab] @ if @ using their [Stab] {/ on @}
    • [Stab] @ after I receive {x} amount of stabs
    • [Stab] the {1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th} person who stabbed me {during this phase/for the rest of the game/for the next phase/any other time wording}
    • [Stab] the {1st/2nd/3rd/4th/5th} person who used their [Stab]
    Story
There were three major kingdoms in the continent of hell.

The North, the West, and the East one, the three of them always kept on fighting one another, making the wars in hell last for eternity, filled with suffering and hatred.

Until... They got bored, so they decided to stop and thought: "Hey, why don't we make one super big and supreme kingdom!? What could could go wrong with that!?"

Things obviously went horribly wrong quite quickly, nobody trusted anyone, all they constantly did was to try and get advantages over one another... You know, usual politics? Yeah, that.

This isn't a very healthy environment though, so the North King got paranoid! Absolutely nuts! The guy killed all of its close advisors, family and everyone else! Only kept its own Warlock alive due to needing some sort of tool to protect himself.

The other kings decided that this was a wonderful premise for a meeting between them 3, to decide how to handle things together with all their close advisors and everything else... Of course everyone had wonderful intentions on this whole mess, they were worried about the health of our poor North King after all, they definitely weren't planning to take over the whole kingdom or anything... >.>

So here we are! Let's get to the fun part already!

    ROLES
There are five roles in the game, with different ability and victory conditions.

Being of a specific region DOES NOT affect gameplay in any manner, this is a Free For All game, not a team game. ( eg: The West Sorcerer and West Guardian are NOT allied to the West King in any manner. )

    [King] (3)
A recently crowned king that has little authority over his people, very afraid of being dethroned ended up killing everyone that he thought that had a chance to go against him.

Is willing to do almost anything to maintain himself on power, even it mean using the vassals of others to kill them.

Probably the worst option for a ruler on the kingdom, being a paranoid would probably bring ruin to it all.
A greedy man that wishes to have as much power as possible for himself, considered the madness of the North's king a boom and intends to make full use of it.

Would probably end up just draining the kingdom dry on his eternal search for more power.
The most sensible out of the 3, ended up noticing that the others are completely unfit to be rulers, and that he could do the greater good if he got rid of them.

Or at least that's what he tells himself every night to not feel guilty of his actions, he is not that different from the West King in fact, just a bit more worried with is own image than the others.
    • [Murder]
He can select a player he wants to kill and request the [Sorcerer]s or the [Guardian]s to execute this action. The order will only go to the [Guardian]s if the [Sorcerer]s are both dead. [Murder] may only be activated once during the [Night Phase]. The [Murder] order is annulled by the end of the [Night Phase].
    • [Protect]
Once per night, the King may order the Guardian to protect another player from [Assassination], but the same target cannot be protected twice in a row.
Victory conditions for the [King]: To secure the throne. (Elimination of the other two [King]s and the two [Assassin]s.)

    [Guardian] (2)
A man that only wishes for the his own safety and the future of the kingdom, he sees the conflict between all three kings as maddening and stupid, but is too afraid of the disaster a revolution could cause, so he decides to affiliate himself with one of them and hope he made the right choice.

He does not have a proper goal for himself, he only knows how to serve and he is good at it.
    • [Guard]
If at least one [King] and one [Sorcerer] are alive, and given a [Protect] order, he can place another player under protection and prevent assassination from affecting them. The [Guardian] is forced to accept one of the [Protect] orders he receives.
    • [Deathblow]
If both [Sorcerer] has perished, the [Guardian] will receive [Murder] orders and can choose whether or not to act upon them.
The targeted character will die due to beheading by the end of the [Night Phase].
The [Guardian] can only choose one target to use [Guard] or [Deathblow] on out of the (up to) 3 targets they'll receive during the [Night Phase].
Victory Conditions for the [Guardian] To ensure the safety of the kingdom. (Survival of one [King], Elimination of the [Warlock].)

    [Assassin] (2)
A person that doesn't have many attachments to anything, they wish to live on and survive by doing its own business.

Their only real talent is for killing though, so that became their profession, accepting jobs from whoever pays more, the assassin received jobs from both West and East Kings to kill the other 2 and the guardian of the other, since they were a bit unsure on what would be the best decision on this situation, they decided to simply kill them all and be done with it.
    • [Assassination]
He can assassinate the selected player. [Assassination] may only be activated during the [Night Phase]. The targeted player will become a strangulated corpse at the beginning of the [Day Phase].
Victory Conditions for the [Assassin] To get paid. (Elimination of all [King]s and [Guardian]s)

    [Sorcerer] (2)
A subordinate of the [King], one from the East, and the other from the West. They are satisfied as long they can pursue their studies in magic and has no interest in the king's throne whatsoever.
With the unification of the kingdoms, their post as the court magician suddenly became threatened, as well their own guarantee of safety when doing so. They wish to assure their post by eliminating the other magicians that came with the unification of the kingdoms.
    • [Sorcery]
He can choose whether to effectively kill one of the players that were selected by [Murder]. [Sorcery] may only be activated during the [Night Phase]. The targeted player will become a burnt corpse by the end of the [Night Phase].
    • [Anti-Magic]
He cannot be killed by [Sorcery]. Further, he will be informed if he was the target of a [Sorcery] attempt, but not of who sent it.
The [Sorcerer] can only choose one target to use [Sorcery] on out of the (up to) 3 targets they'll receive during the [Night Phase].
Victory conditions for the [Sorcerer] To assure his post (Elimination of the other [Sorcerer] and the [Warlock].)

    [Warlock] (1)
The magician that came from the North kingdom, differently from the most other magicians, he specialized in protection and clairvoyance instead of killing skills.

While that was once praised in the past, as the kingdoms got together, he was quickly put into a secondary role by his own [King], in favor of the others that were better at killing the opposition.

In the midst of this chaos, he realized that he can get rid of the other sorcerers and obtain his past glory once more.

On his own search for renown, a realization came that even if they could be seen as a valuable asset, his protection against sorcery would not amount to much, with the death of the other sorcerers, if compared to how well the [Guardian] can protect their kings from [Assassin].

He realized that he also needs to exterminate those [Guardian], if he is ever to become a recognized again.
    • [Murder Spy]
The [Warlock] will always receive the [Murder] orders.
    • [Divination]
Once per [Night Phase], you can use a spell identify the role of one player. The results of [Divination] will be delivered at the end of the the [Night Phase]. The target player will not be informed of their identification.
    • [Spell Shield]
Every [Night Phase], the [Warlock] can choose one player (including themself) and make them immune to [Murder]. However, [Spell Shield] cannot be used if [Divination] was used.Further, [Spell Shield] cannot be used on the same player two nights in a row.
Victory conditions for the [Warlock] To obtain his former glory. (Elimination of all [Sorcerer]s and [Guardian]s)
    EXECUTION ORDER

    1. Scheduled [stab] at the end of [night phase].
    2. The results of [Divination] are delivered.
    3. The targets of [Murder] become burnt or beheaded corpses at the end of [Night Phase] if applicable.
    4. The targets of [Assassination] become strangulated corpses at the beginning of the [Day Phase] if applicable.
    5. All players recover 1 HP if applicable.
    6. Scheduled [Stab] at the start of [day phase] if applicable.

Hmm looks like Optimal number to play this game would be 15?

    What about the South Kingdom?

    Isn't this Warlock too OP?
I personally think you should make it a Full 20 players, as I guess each king would be trying to sway as many vassals to their side as possible. this makes for a really good premise ~
Good Job with this one Brasca ~

A note that I forgot to clarify due to being too tired while trying to fix the terrible formatting on this thing, the West/North/East things are all for flavor, it does not affect the gameplay in any way.

Sorcerers will receive orders from the 3 kings and choose 1 to carry out, same for the guardians.

Warlock will receive all 3 murder orders, but will not know which will be carried out.

Guardian does not need his own king to win, any king surviving is good for them.
I know, I broke tons of stuff on this one, I'd have to probably write the whole thing again to fix it... orz
Dunno, is it? We can discuss it a bit more once the game has ended and we made a test...

Oh, and a note (I'm too afraid to edit the post and ruin the formatting, so I won't do it), [Spell Shield] cannot be used on the same target twice in a row, just like how the [King] cannot order [Guard] to target the same target twice in a row.

As for 20 players, not only is it almost impossible to gather this many, but it would also make things too confusing IMO...

I said 20 since I factored in a South Kingdom, but using only the 3 Kingdoms it'll be 15 Players with 1 role from each Kingdom, though will this set up the Warlock has a massive advantage...... It'll mention the rest in the convo

The roles were thought to have different numbers...

If it was like you said, it would be similar to TK... Which is not bad, but it's a team game, the idea for this one was to be a FFA one, so it goes against the premise.

And as you said, would need some reworking on the roles.

Technically speaking, there are no factions, it's a FFA game.

As for which role should ally with which... Well, good luck~

So just want to make sure
All roles need to be alive to win or just fill out the victory conditions

@brasca123: to edit a post without worrying about formatting, there is a 'more options' button at the bottom of the edit page which allows you to preview (at the bottom again) any changes you make. This allows you to correct any formatting errors before you post.

Also, I was going to note all of those forgotten points after reading the first page but I'm glad to see you saw them. Again, edit and more options to correct efficiently. As an aside, you may want to mention that every role has to live to win, not just the guardian. It's kind of disingenuous the way it is written now.

No factions. Technically every man for himself version. It is balanced, mostly, given the distribution of killing and information power. Though I will say this version is much more strongly correlated to perceived skill, especially among kings, as a known to be skilled King (@Arcturus is the nightmare scenario there) can gather all the power to her side and basically sweep.

I don't think the Warlock is OP. They are immune to the attacks of their worst enemy, but not knives or assassins. They also don't have any killing power, which means they need to be lucky in finding an ally within a few minutes to succeed.

Speaking of, @brasca123 add me to observer list so I can see how this goes. If it works out I'll add it to the interest page list of playable versions. If it doesn't... Well, beta testing happens for a reason. Fixing known mistakes is easier than finding them after all.

You have no idea how many times I used the preview to fix this formatting... Things bugged really badly as I switched to and fro BB code editor, so I had to do it all on BB code and there is a ton of useless code in the middle of it that is probably causing the bug... I'd need to delete all the useless stuff to make it usable again... Might as well just rewrite it for the next time instead.

As for the Guardian, you're right on that, I made it clear since the Guardian was originally from TK and it doesn't need to live on that one, so I wanted to make that clear... I'll see if I can go over the whole OP tomorrow and rewrite it from scratch to make all the fixes... Or the day after tomorrow... Or any day in which I'm not super sleepy with a headache actually... My fault for deciding to host a game at midnight after sleeping 2h yesterday, I guess.
Sure... Mind if I do it in 6h or so? I really need to sleep... I wanted to reply to some stuff, make things in AG and some others, but... I'm going to bed.

Ha... I'll send you a formatted code in the PM in around 15 minutes or so and you can just copy/paste it. It's not difficult to do.

As for the other, no problem.

    I didn't know shoehorning was a word.
Wait, so we can still comment as ghosts?
The word "could" was written twice.
What kind of king would invite a paranoid king...?
    Okay, so a pig...
...and a justice otaku. Great. This unified kingdom is doomed.
Wow. Literally the role which made the most sense up till now.
Wait, so the Warlock can use it on themselves?
    Yep. Either three or none.
