They don't close automatically, but they can be locked for necroing. But threads like the GB Association are supposed to be exempt because they're one-of-a-kind threads and should be revived when needed. I also don't see a mod post saying it was locked for that reason.

I can recommend the gender bender shounen novel "Dusk Howler", but this novel is not translated. The English translator translated only the prologue and an excerpt from the first chapter of the novel, and then abandoned the translation. This novel was adapted into a manhwa that was completely translated, but this manhwa showed only events from the first and second volumes of the novel.
