I've always (well, since I was ten) really liked Asian food, particularly sushi and the appetizers from Chinese restaurants (crab rangoons, egg rolls, potstickers, etc.) I've always seen frozen/pre-prepared Asian food in the supermarket, but when I try them they aren't very good. Recently, however, I tried some frozen pork dumplings/gyoza, and they were amazing, easily as good as restaurant gyoza. They were pagoda brand pork potstickers (If you want to make them, make sure to cook them in a pan, it really isn't very hard and it makes them sooo much better). Anyway, I wanted to know if anyone knew of good frozen or pre-prepared Asian food I could get at the grocery store, since I am too lazy to order carry out from the places around town (and that is also more expensive). Edit: I live in Springfield Illinois, with several fairly extensive grocery stores.
If you're going to ask then state where you are from. They may suggest stuff that aren't available to you.
Buy sweet and sour sauce, chicken to fry, stir fry some onion + bell pepper + carrot and voilà, you have sweet and sour chicken~ Though you could fry the chicken with your own seasoning and batter.
The only frozen Asian food I eat are potstickers, dumplings, and meat buns. For the rest, I usually make them myself from scratch. Edit: try going to a super H mart, there’s also another Asian supermarket at the tip of my tongue that also does this but I forgot , if you have one near by and go on saturdays. That’s when they have people cooking different types of frozen foods for you to try and then you can choose. Also try finding cheap Asian restaurant and buy food and just freeze them yourself?
If he/she can handle the smell and taste. Most westerners can't even stand the smell from 10m+. Does durian even got imported there?
Do you have a favorite brand of meat bun? There is a lot of variance in the quality of different frozen items, like how Jacks pizzas are crap, and Tombstone is tasty. I've always wanted to try meat buns, but I haven't ever gotten the chance.
Hope not. You sick puppy... I know, as my mom eats durian once in a while...that stench defies belief.
