It has some glowing reviews on NU so I was willing to give it a go but I didn't really enjoy first 7 chapters. This novel focuses on sexual cultivation which I am not a big fan of; I am not against it but majority of the times it's just a fan service.

Does this novel get any better later on? Should I persist?

Never read it. IMO I'd usually decide how much I can bear with pushing forward. If it's just a "meh" I might give it a few more chapters before deciding, but sometimes it really is difficult to read on so I'd just drop it. It'd be better use of your time to read something else or find something you like better. First impression are important and most of the time it'll affect your mood/expectations of the novels so if you don't like it now, rarely will you like it later on even if it does get good since you'd end back to how you felt at first eventually. The first 15 chapters is usually how I judge since I'd get a rough understanding of the pacing and author's style.

Edit: On the matter of the sexual cultivation tag, if you feel that it'll play a somewhat big part and you don't like it, don't force yourself. If everything else was great, you might bear with it or ignore/skip it, but if that makes you feel uncomfortable and you feel the story it at most "meh," drop it.

If you're looking for rec or something new to read or have questions to ask, PM me.:blobokhand:

isn't the translator basically cutting out a lot of the juicy bits anyway?

otherwise I feel like the smut level is really unnaturally weird. it's definitely r18, but somehow it feels like watching a softcore porno.

anyway, I didn't particularly care for it.

Very vague depiction, atleast not like in erotic novels. Also sex scenes are edited because of censorship, that was supposed to be the highlight but now you got a bland novel whose cultivation system is similar to Emperor's Domination.

If you really can't stand the sexual cultivation you would be in for a hard ride since the cultivation method of his stays the same throughout. Only real reason to read the novel would be for the demonic cultivation and the actual plot goal.

p.s. The release rate for the novel has always been terrible so if you do continue on be warned.

Honestly the story was decent back when it wasn't censored so much. I dropped it from the slow translation though and it seems even now it's kinda slowish but a lot better than before.
