do you have a guilty pleasure read? maybe something with a trope that everybody hates but you secretly love? well, I do too. Have you ever read a novel where the mc just has to enter a room and everyone will fall in love? Yeah. I was literally just complaining about that trope a few days ago. But-! I've had a revelation. I've been in a reading slump lately and I wanted to read something with no drama. Guess what? I wanted to finish a few novels I had dropped which were completed and I started reading Villain Days again, and let me tell you: there is no drama in there. none. it's all minor problems that get solved pretty quickly. Not only that, but, uh, I've been exploring that trope and I've found a shit-ton of novels where people fall in love left and right with the mc who had done nothing. Cons about the trope: no plot, mc is usually boring, the novel isn't headed in a particular direction either, overall not a 'filling' read (plotless, basically.) Pros: no drama. that's it. that's the only pro you need. Want a break (from the ads? lmao) from headache-inducing plots where the revenge gets carried out over the course of thirty chapters and the backstabbing somehow includes even more? Tired of crying over deaths and want a chance to rest your tear ducts? Look no further than the plotless novels which can sustain you temporarily instead! (warning: prolonged exposure to this trope may make you want to cry in disgust about the character's stupidity, and the plotholes, but hey!- at least no one's dying! no one's giving you over complicated political drama you can barely keep track of! Rest your brain for a day, and read a 'lovable for no reason mc' novel today! Can be picked up at your local NU)
I had a phase of edgy survival manga for a few years then I got so tired of it all and I just went and read a bunch of stupid overly pure shoujo manga where it takes forever for them to kiss. I use to hate those, I guess the edginess affected me too much at that time
I am a gao fushuai villain , I guess that's one of the things I read which can be considered guilty pleasure , It's either you're an ally of the mc , or you're in a coffin right now , so haha
i’ve recently come to like yandere mcs…. I honestly don’t know why considering I hated them like a month ago—
same like, I can handle a certain degree of yandere-ness now (I guess I've built up resistance or something??)
Reading tragedy centered stories where the mc emotionally breaks down during some points. Idk I just like it prolly cause I got tired of happy-go-lucky or no care in the world characters.
