Question Guys who dislike harem....are u ok?

Lets turn this question around.
Would you rather be with one girl who you slowly get to know over a period of time. Another human who has thoughts and feelings and may not always agree with you on every subject. Or would you rather be with multiple women who seem more like robots programed to say your right with everything you do and whose most defining characteristics is there face, breast, (and, or) hips/ass.

 

I rather read a story with multiple good female characters and even then this isn’t what u must use to grade a novel it isn’t the romance it’s the action that makes a good novel

 

Stop reading cultivation novels as that’s the problem in all of them no matter if it’s a harem or not don’t hate on all harem novels because of your bad taste in novels it should be obvious how a cultivation novel will turn out that’s why I don’t read them

 

If I am to put this in simple terms, imagine the MC being a some random guy that suddenly decided to start his journey and then along his way he meets girls(pokemons) that he got to catch and some just fall for him just because he helped them or something like that, technically most harem novels are like this

Let us be honest here, pokemons are great but when the women become like pokemons in the story, well, it kind of becomes messed up

I think you are confusing something.

When harems were done in real life, it was rare they actually lived together. Most of the harems were closer to personal brothels than anything else. Where one would collect what they liked and visit them when they liked.

If they actually had to live with those people on a daily basis, none of them would want that harem. That is precisely why harem's appeal tends to be the younger audience who are naive about what it is like to live with other human beings. They just want to get a bunch of girls not thinking about what it would be like actually living with them.

As for harem novels overall, the big issue has always been that romance is one of the hardest things to write for an author. And harem is like taking that difficulty, and multiplying it by the amount of harem members. Not to mention it tends to distract from the story.

 

I resent that. 108 Maidens of Destiny is very similar to that. Ironically, it actually has female's that aren't so generic and cardboard cutout, haha.

 

You do realize that shitty xianxia novels aren't the only thing with harem that is absolutely shit right? There is also shit JP isekai harems and god awful english ones. Did you waste too much time reading shitty xianxias that you grew hate for them? Thats the same for the harem tag. We read too much of that shit that we hated it.

 

I don't read the English-language ones and the Chinese language novels I've come across have vastly superior characterization to what I see in Japanese web novels. The latter seem to be full of writers who don't have the foggiest clue about how to write characters. I've read terrible Chinese novels before, but they're still better at that aspect.

 

Url should be corrected to you. Also I don't read many cultivation novels it is just that harems are usually bad. I am actually less critical on Jap ones because they are often comedies so I take it less seriously.

Harem is a sin word that goes onto stories where MC collects relationships like Ash collects pokemon. And I deem them bad because if there are 3+ characters that are... "just-another-girl/boy" enough to end up as one of pokemons then how can it be good?

Although I have to agree that it can work for comedies and also, I kinda enjoyed Grisaia.

Well, it depends on whether or not the harem is in a work of fiction or in real life.

In stories, the protagonist will live it up as he's lavished with lots of praise and attention from his harem, while practically being waited on hand and foot. Essentially, he'll an incredibly sex-filled life never having to worry about money or having to work and will have a "happily ever after", because of the power of his main character aura, protagonist Halo, golden finger, and because the author will always save him at the last second.

In reality, as anyone who's been with someone will tell you, relationships take lots of work and effort. At some point the two of you will get annoyed with each other, get into disagreements, etc. You'll kiss and make up later, or you won't. Both of you will probably be working like a dog to make money so that the both of you can pay the bills, and you'll have to find ways to schedule your life jus so you can still spend a few hours with each other every now and then. Or you as the man will work your butt off being the breadwinner and your wife will stay at home and try her best to take care of the kids. You'll need to earn twice the amount of money because you're providing for 2 people, or you'll have to work 4x as hard to provide for your wife and kid. Want to have sex with your wife? Not with a baby keeping the both of you awake practically 24/7. Won't be happening once the kid is older either, because then they can hear you through the walls. Ever lived with your girlfriend and had to deal with a very angry and moody woman during her period? I guarantee it's not pleasant.

Now, take all of those real life problems and situations, and multiply it for each member that you have in your harem.
1)You won't have enough money to support everyone
2) You can't make all of your harem members work if you're out there as well, because somebody needs to take care of the house and kids
3) Kids= No time or opportunity for sex and a huge drain on the wallet and the mind
4) Your wives will back each other up on any issues, so you'll have to deal with many angry women than just 1
5) Living with a woman on her period is scary. Living with multiple women who are all going through their periods at the same time is suicidal
6) Jealousy. Even if they all agree to be with you and somehow also manage to fall in love with each other like in some hentai harem anime, people are still human and they'll be jealous. Yandere women might be cute in anime, but you won't think so in real life if you find out that they've chopped of your dick and stabbed you in the gut for spending too much time with one person in your harem instead of her.

Are you still excited for your happy harem life? Well don't forget that you'll have to deal with multiple pregnant women at some point, and they're all going to give birth while cursing you for making them go through that pain. They'll probably be planning to kill you as well. Don't want your women to ever have kids? Telling them what to do with their own bodies? Good luck, they'll never find your corpse

 

I read every novel for the record I don’t allow the romance to keep me away from a novel that seems good but what I have a problem with is u guys 1 star rating books because it hurts your feelings like the snowflakes url are

 

Things got hot here so fast that I'm scared to state my opinion about this...

 

Most Chinese ones I read were the polar opposite of most Jap in that instead of being passive it evolved into aggressively collecting girls before forgetting them and well reading porn. The only exceptions I can think of right now mostly involve court intrigue but then again I am currently taking a break from the majority of Chinese novels. Also the English ones are the worst of the lot.

 

Clearly the quality of what you read is shit if your grammar has anything to say about it. And not liking a novel is exactly why you should give it a bad review, there are no other reasons than your own opinion.
