You mean as in you're not familiar with the G.U. story line?? No worries, you can still read the C.S. story. The main characters are original characters and when someone from the series gets introduced, they get a proper introduction. Recognizing the easter eggs might be a bit difficult, but it's still an interesting story~
Go watch the anime and play the games. It got a remaster on steam with a new 4th game. (the 4th game is like, 3 hours long and only expanded on the original end a bit. The other 3 are like 20~40 hours each. depending if you go for 100% or not.) The series is really good and i highly recommend it. The original series has a repetitive battle system, but I would recommend it as well.
