I'm only Reading Against the Gods and Tales of Demons and Gods for my chinese novels right now. but what i can tell about the genre it's

Chinese novels, are heavy in terms of right and wrong. As the saying goes violence with no reason is senseless slaughter. Reason without strength is empty words. So you must be able to uphold what you say. The strongest person is the one who sets what is right and wrong, so there is no morals in them. Thus to be right is to be strong.

 

I see, I was thinking about starting read Chinese Novel and it maybe Long live summoner, True history of ..., or somethings like them I guess.

 

At first, I thought this line meant that he is dating Death... and I was like WTF?! Death is a woman?! *sigh* Such happy times...

 

Summary to speak is strong get good, rule all I guess.

When they stick Harem on the title

As for why
why you say?
there are as many reasons as the stars, if I were to try and explain why it rubs me the wrong way.

Don't get me wrong, i like mindless harem just for the sake of harem too, they serve their purpose, nothing wrong with that.
But even in the most cliche, brainless, copy pasting settings, there are those that does it right, and those that doesn't.
Putting the [Harem] word on the title, is a sign of the later.
So lazy, so thoughtless even by harem standards.

That's too much assumptions don't you think?

I don't like it when they stick [harem] on the title of a novel that's not hentai.
Though it warns me of a trashy work and save my time.... maybe I should thank it instead.

I would also want to elaborate that I'm not against a "straight to the point" or "high representative value" titles...no...we should really stop discussing about what's a good title and how should a title be and then perhaps the statistics of novel titles on Earth...

This is one simple circumstance when Web/Light Novel authors stick a certain word on the title.
This is where the talk derailed, when you insist that it's ok because it's good representation and then assumed that I hate that kind of obvious title.
Well nah, This is not about a whole type of title, and certainly not all the titles underneath that category.
When an author stick the word [harem] on the title, it does indeed do a good representing job.
But to me, it does more than that.
Give me various fragments of the author's mindset, aim, skill level, the story's direction, contents.
All based on personal experience, and current trending.
I repeat, personal.
I arrive to a conclusion that, even if I enjoy mindless harem, I won't be able to sit through this because it is just that bad.

... Well name is very importance and hard to do you know, in novels, movies,... the title name is what it really are and you have no right to insult the name ( a little dislike is ok), just write your novels but you mismatch the name, what will others say?
Though there maybe some authors don't think much when chose the name but they may fond of the name of their novels.

 

I think the point is if we statistically measure it. The amount of novels titles with the word <harem> in them are abundant but they usually turn out to be disappointing and doesn't deliver. So any novel with that word in its title could be expected to be bad. We may have a diamond in the rough but I wouldn't chance on it .

 

Yea that true, the name is less creative like it use to be. They now just into let the name got the point of their main genre now.

Indeed that we really need more Creative name, like Isekai Harem maybe Reincarnate to invincible ArchWizard of somethings I guess.

Edit: I see that a lots of old harem novels, anime, manga got cool unique name, maybe because of that now the new authors in lost how name their projects I guess.
