I think my question turned a different direction from what I wanted. So I'm going to ask you that now since it seems you do know something. ^^ I'll use an example.

If you are in a relationship, sometimes you open up slowly (specially when you are introverted). When you do open up and try to talk to your partner about things you love, if you find out he is not interested at all and even openly attack you with snide remarks or dislike.. Is it better to stop talking about those things and compromise for the sake of your relationship?

If these are things you'd talk about only after opening up, they would probably be fairly important to you.
Even if the other side isnt interested in them, at least your interest should be respected. Thats where the main point in your scenario would be, from my opinion.
An open attack on your interests isnt included in what I consider respecting~
Of course, depending on the people involved as well as the actual situation, its fairly possible the other side doesnt actually mean to harm with this 'attack'.
But thats probably irrelevant for a theoretical situation~
Anyways, when one side opens up and the other gives out negative remarks, then there is probably something already wrong before that.
Though, if not - or even if, as that eould probably help regardless of the problem - I'd suggest to have a heart to heart conversation, in that scenario. The other side would have to realize how important this thing is for you. Though, at the same time, forcing them to listen to you about it wouldnt help either. Depending on reasons/history/people, it might be possible to have them try your interest to see if their dislike is founded upon reason or not.
The ideal resulting situation in case they dont like it, would be for you to have some people you can talk with about it, while talking about things both enjoy, but having the other side at least aknowledge any passing comments or related talk to the thing.
As I said above, not all interests have to be shared... just a coulpe or so~
