Have you guys ever MTL'ed slow novels?

Hey guys, have you people ever got tired of the slow translation pace for a novel and decided to switch to using Google translate to read them?
1. If you have post the novel name and 2.how far you've read it (if you stopped at a point like me where you got tired of losing a few brain cells and decided to wait till the translation caught up then mention that too or if you have ur own reasons id like to hear them as well )
Ex:
*Doulou dalu - completed
*Btth- half way (lost a lot of brain cells there & no it hasn't caught up yet and it's not going to anytime soon either :/)

 

Before I learned Japanese, I tried to with Arifureta, but it just melted my brain and I vowed never to do it again XD

 

The only time I do this is if its at a bad cliffhanger and only for the resolution cuz I like my brain cells.

For Chinese stuff, I can understand most of it... and once I learned about per novel dictionaries (for names and specific terms), reading MTLs aren't actually that bad if you're willing to take some time in the beginning to set up a reading environment...
For Japanese stuff, I've only done it for major cliffhangers, and the last few volumes of Mushoku Tensei. I use Jparser/Mecab, though, so it may not be what you had in mind. Stopped once I realized spoilers are everywhere and reading through MTL isn't that much more enjoyable than reading summaries anyways. Tried reading using GT once; couldn't understand a single sentence.


ATG - since when he just got kicked out of his clan to current chapter
TDG - after he started treating Xiao Ning'er to current chapter
LLS - 100-ish till the end
CCM - around the time he received territory to 300ish then dropped
CD - a few chapters here and there


Arifureta (when it ended with Myuu calling Hajime papa and shocking his classmates until he got to the next dungeon)
Mushoku Tensei (around the time Nanahoshi was doing experiments until the series ended)
Gun-ota (meeting Meiya and saving Chrisse's mother)
Magi's Grandson (the few chapters around Schtrom's identity reveal)

 

I MTL'd LMS from Volume 13's last chapter (an eternally untranslated chapter at the time) up to Volume 23? (I think) whenever it was that Weed was starting to be promoted in ranks during the Lich Bar Khan army arc. And I stopped at that time because I felt I was missing too much without the summaries. Summaries started to be per volume instead of per chapter after about volume 19.

I did it by reading the Google and Microsoft translations side-by-side, after reading any summaries for the chapter I could find (as that would help me from making any major mistaken assumptions). Later, when I reread the proper translations, I didn't find anything to be particularly different from what I remembered, except for everything involving the helium mine on the volcano island, a couple of important details about the sculpture tower on the same island, the whole climatic battle of the volcano island (truly indecipherable to me), and any time that Weed was actually being charming. There were no summaries for that arc, and I think the volcano island arc involved a lot of references to the landscape (sea, harbors, rocky landscapes, caves, tunnels, mines, etc.), as well as prepositions and groups of things (plurals and small to big groups), so I wasn't getting that from the MTLs.

I get confused a lottttt so I found waiting for the translation better, but still it spoiled btth for me... I liked that novel and now not so much... Stupid mtl
