I always use female character inside an online game because it's better to see female character than male
It's fun, not done it in ages though. First time was when I joined a guild and most of my friends in said guild were women, and thought I was, so I rolled with it.
About the poll tho... All of the options start with 'yes', which makes it extremely misleading when the question is 'have you pretended to be the opposite sex online'. 'yes, i'm male, and i'd never do that' is answering the question 'Are you male, and if so have you pretended to be the opposite sex online'. Should just be 'i'm gender XX and...'
I did once on one of those random chat sites, they used to have pretty funny random conversations, but over the period of half a year it quickly devolved into just a bunch of pathetic losers begging for nudes. So I pretended to be a girl, but gave her the most depraved cringy fetishes and quirks I could think of. Unfortunately it did not go as planned and I had to bail before I even got started. Apparently when you're fucking pathetic enough to beg for nudes on omegle, nothing is gross enough to turn you off.
I was confused why I was having such a pleasant experience getting so much free stuff from so many nice people back then (probably close to 20 years ago). And mind you, it's not like I typed anything or really did much interaction at that point. But I guess the internet was new enough back then that all you needed was a female avi for lots of guys to instantly think you were one. Nowadays tho, lots of skepticism even with things like voice chat I hear. Something along the lines of "I always get confused for a 12 year old boy" coming from real girls. Funny stuff. also in response to the OP itself, I tried to roleplay a girl a few times (not in RS and not at that young age. College age). Harder than I thought it'd be. Then I figured, guess it just wasn't for me. And went back to just the female avis for the outfits and eye candy. Although a few years ago, I somehow confused a girl into thinking I was a girl in Guild Wars 2 and I think I traumatized her by not being one 0.o Probably because I was excitably bubbly at that point in time.
If there are no females online per internet rules, only males can pretend to be female according to logic, so the answer is yes.
No, because its too annoying to keep up. I also have a case of chuunibyou so I don't need another trait like that. Or maybe it might lead me to a new door so I try to stay away from it.
Well, i always left my HI3 name as female, so when i answer some random question about helping others, they'll felt welcome in open arms by a female, not muscular hug of male, which can help them enjoy the game with leasure. Oh, and HI3 all character( except the Captain) is female, and you might as well join the yuri train by being a trap that people might felt for... :3
ohh okay! Yeah, there are a bunch of sites that offer polls like strawpoll or survey monkey or google forms, but those aren't social sites and you'd have to share the link with a community of people I think it would be really nice if reddit had built in polls but they dont
"They say there are no girls in the internet so I'm just following what they say and act gender neutral. If they thought I'm a guy, oh well haha" - my friend
Done it few times at past, especially mmorpg with couple system. ex : seal online. Pretend to be female and working together with my 'male friends' to scam others players. Now i just think, we are pretty as*hole at that time
Nah, I've been a Male Goblin my whole internet life. Now at home alone, playing as a female character is nice. Most single player games have pretty female avatars Mmos tend to have generic females so meh. WAIT A MOMENT I played TERA one time. I pretended to be a furry animal to speak with the lolis. Danced my way into a party of hot babes. I know it was all fake, but it was hilarious. There were two other guys and we just traveled as a little animal gang propositioning women like idiots on the streets. "Heyyyy, good looking, wanna know why some people are furries?" "How ya doin', sweet thing? Care to give my tail a pet?" Being me, I just walked up and starting dancing at them. God, being young and stupid was great.
I did pretend to be female(whole female avatar, name and even did voice change while at it) but its mostly for trolls and whatnot. I had to told it straight that i'm a guy later on which....kinda confuses them tbh...female chars have different variety of clothes while males...are kinda meh when playing an MMORPG. I had fun switching both gender sides in an online game but i don't actually take it seriously. So, in truth, i'm just a guy who people thinks i'm a girl that pretends to be a guy which is mistaken as a girl, simple as that.
