I read the manga and was kinda scared+curious about the future. Really nice to hear that.

So how long until he figures out that he can use mapping on other people to learn their skills?

So does he find another way to make his skill overpowered, like find a way to map his enemies to discover their fighting strategies and weak points, so he can beat them easily?

So he stays useless all the way through?

People IRL learn cartography without issue without the use of skills... so it seems a bit weird for a party of world-class talents to insist on having dead weight... and it's mentioned that he's young and lazy so he's probably not that good yet despite having the Mapping skill...?

It's a big risk if they meet danger and he dies because he's much weaker and they're left stranded.

Did you guys even read what i wrote? Jesus
And no, cartography isn't such an easy thing that you'd be able to do it easily in a weird place like a dungeon while having to fight monsters every second.

You've reached the wrong conclusion here, the fact that the protagonist does not find a way to exploit his skill into a cheat is actually a good thing, not a bad thing. I mean seriously you make it sound like a one or the other scenario, the protagonist can be a useless weakling, or an overpowered cheat. There are more than two levels of power, and power doesn't even have to refer to fighting abilities, a character can be useful to the story in other ways.

Now that I know the protagonist doesn't become a cheat, I am more interested in the story. (+1)

Like i said in the original post, there is things people can train without having skills, like swordmanship for exemple. The difference with someone with the swordmanship skill is that the one without will have a really hard time keeping up with someone who does have the skill, who not only will learn swordmanship and other sword-type skills easily, but will also be able to focus on something else like magic since their swordmanship is easy to learn. (although there is skills that are not learnable, like mapping, world map, clairvoyance etc...)
When i said the mc was going to train with his new allies, i was obviously not talking of his mapping skill, since it's just a skill that map things around him and cannot really be 'trained'. I guess people have been too accustomed with useless skills becoming op in some novels nowadays, making you guys think that the skill he was training in is the one that was called useless...

For those who want to know what he is training in, here some slight spoilers :
The mc is training as a scout/thief for now, developing his detections abilities (be it living detection or trap detection), his stealth abilities so he won't aggro monsters so the others won't have to protect him all the time, and dodging abilities so that if his stealth doesn't work, he'll still be able to somehow survive long enough to give time to the other members to save him, especially since he ends up carrying the dwarf of the group when they have to run
