maybe he's a strong believer in tough love, like Garp from One Piece (Garp's and Luffy's relationship is what comes to mind when I see these two). I mean, look at what he has for a son...any father would want to beat him.
No little Zhou is like that cause of the beating he gets from his dad he is a rather lonely guy I don't think he had any friends besides ru se until he met the commander that's why he acts the way he acts where he tries to do stupid things to get people to laugh I mean the kid has gotten beat up so much he has gotten used to it The poor kid had to run away from home cause he feared his father wouldn't believe him when he explained himself over the incident that happened with the princess and would beat him Hmph at the end of the day admiral Zhou is a massive dick I can understand tough love but this is not even tough love anymore that's just beating him because he isnt satisfied that his only son isn't a heavenly jewel master like him especially considering he put 10years into trying to fix his meridians
I think that it is just the way in which they express love ya kno the classic love-hate relationship between an old man and his son
just finished reading latest chapter...well at least he prevents himself from hitting his son in the face. As for being a dick...yeah, he's a dickhead dad. Just cause you're son wasn't able to become a jewel master, doesn't mean you should focus all your anger onto him. Now that Zhou getting stronger, maybe he'll make his dad see just how much of a dick he's been. Son and Father don't seem to hate each other. Dad just had high expectations and no tolerance for anything less. Son just wanted some love and didn't really get any...He better stand up to his dad...I feel like his dad will be an obstacle for his love life (He want to follow Bing'er, dad may assign him elsewhere just of his cat eye)
Tough fatherly love expectantly when hes the Admiral (why the fuck not general its not the navy!!!) and in charge of the entire military of the country. With being the only person that is holding back complete annihilation and his son is trash (WAIT WHAT! Its true at the beginning but some people don't call him that???) he would be pretty physical. Although like I said he just learned it so I'm suspecting a coming to Jesus movement incoming!
He will either leave the country to follow her and forsake his father/everyone or somehow accepts them being together. Then again they are both heavenly jewel masters so must have a higher chance with children? They will be placed together.

Nyanko's research into the matter indicates that Admiral derives itself from the french "amiral" which means "Commander"; which in turn derives itself from the Arabic amīr al which is basically "Commander of". The term Admiral only starts being referred exclusively to naval commanders in the 16th century. That was Nyanko's pointless fact of the day!
After what we saw, is there any doubt he deserves to be called the Admiral (seriously reminding me of Garp from One Piece)? I mean think about. He beat his rascally son with his fist, sent him off into to the wilderness to train, and is a well-respected and feared military asset.
