I just made my account on NovelUpdates.
I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask this, but I was wondering what I should do to be allowed to create a thread? I haven't found anything in the rules for it, and I don't have the privilege to do so yet. Maybe I read over it...

Anyway, since people are introducing themselves here I guess I'll share why I made this account in the first place. I used to be an avid manga reader and stayed clear of light novels, since the few I had tried had absolutely unintelligible English, so even if the story was good, I couldn't force myself through reading them.
However, I recently found The Second Coming of Gluttony, and the writing there is actually good, so I thoroughly enjoyed binging it all, much more than I thought I would. So now I'm trying to find other great stories.

oh and Six States by Priest (dont be fooled by the simple name, it's an incredible book! My favorite among my recently reads)

like Kafka on the shore 2333, read it in college, and then finished an other dozen of his books Nice choice~

recently reading a BL myself, Six States by Priest. a deep story with a light-comedy tone, no harm that the two heroes are also handsome~

 

Hello everyone, I'm (*see username). I'm sorry I'm a bit weird in that I don't usually refer to myself and so you can call me whatever you want I don't mind.

My hobbies are.. I don't really have that something that I can definitely say as my hobby so I'll just have to go with surfing the web I guess? Oh I recently found a good way to turn my "hobby" into something that can be a little beneficial to the future of the internet by making a script that automatically saves the websites that I browse into the Internet Archive. Hopefully that's better than nothing I guess..

I have been feeling a little bit melancholic due the recent worldwide event and so I guess posting here can be sort of outlet for me. I don't know. I probably subconsciously felt that I should at least leave something before.. um, okay this is getting a little bit uh.. sorry this might be the melancholic mood talking so let me add a bit of levity here... ~tee hee pero ;P (Nailed it! xD)

I got into novels recently. I've only really read TNE, TSCoG, and Overgeared.
I've also been reading Trash of the Count's Family and Upgrade Specialist in Another World. I'm not as caught up on these though (400 chapters behind on both).
Imawa no Kuni no Alice is a manga I read and enjoyed.

I've played cello, looking to pick up piano next semester.

I had an account here from when i stumbled across this forum a few years ago but i can't remember the username or email, and i barely used to it anyway so hello again! Im moondust. Im trying to get back into reading, and also trying to practice japanese, so i'm searching for good light novels to read at the moment. I always hear people say "Start with light novels for your japanese studies" and they werent kidding. The ones I see so far that im interested are much easier than one japanese elemantary school novel ive had for like 8 years but never can actually got very far due to constantly looking up words. I love light novels now! Besides studying japanese my hobbies are listening to jpop and surfing the web. I used to enjoy doing more things like video games and writing but alas, im lazy. Forums always feel so cozy to me and I love how active this place is. I hope to make many friends here! <3

I like reading romance and action novels and manga. I hate NTR, mind-break, rape and stuff like that (in short I'm a vanilla romance guy). I've read all 25 Volumes of High School D×D and am now reading Shin High School D×D. I'm part of the translation team on Discord and help with editing. We're currently working on Volume 4.

Other novels I've read or am reading are Madan no Ou to Vanadis (really hope the translation for this continues--Setsuna is really busy with real life stuff at the moment so he hasn't been able to continue for a while), Full Metal Panic!, Rakudai Kishi no Eiyuutan, Sword Art Online, Maou Gakuen no Hangyakusha, Juuou Mujin no Fafnir (Unlimited Fafnir--another one whose translation is on a hiatus), Shinmai Maou no Keiyakusha, Gakusen Toshi Asterisk and Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut.

I'm learning programming. I like C++ and JavaScript. I've done a few projects that I have on my portfolio but I haven't done any paid projects yet.
