So a friend of mine showed me this game, but I'm reallllly bad.
Can someone help me improve with tech-chases and waveshines? I can wavedash super slowly, but I can't waveshine to save my life.
Any tips to improve Marth's chainegrabs would also be appreciated, I feel like they're impossible to chain together! :/

Play until you get better. Just like any other game. Just use the Dark Souls tactic.

There's only so much I can do against bots though.. :/
And playing against real people is too hard so I don't learn anything!

Practice against CPU first, as it gives you more opportunity to train specific skills, such as chain grab.
This lets you practice without competition getting in the way of repetition.

Second, understand the games mechanics. Some characters have more weight, and yet float more, like sammus.
This effect the combo timings. Or the specific movement distance to continue the combo depending on how far/fast your opponent bounces off the ground.

Die repeatedly for almost no reason at all, then quit and spiral into a fit of depression?

After you watched a speedrunner do it blindfolded in an hour and twenty minutes and thought "If he can do it blindfolded, I can survive through character creation."

You gotta learn your frames. Marth requires you to know your spacing very well especially if you want to do chaingrabs at an optimal level. Like a few others said, practice with the CPU first and then try online. If you're still having difficulties watch how top-level players move with their characters so you can get a better idea of how to use your character.
