I'm having trouble with the latter part.

"Weathering has advanced from the fact that vines started enveloping/wrapping the trees, but it won’t be the same in a few years."

    Help?

It doesn't make sense to me.

so using google translate and my paraphasing i got this:
there was nothing left in a place that use to be so populated,
the erosion of (the place? not sure what place) lasted so long that trees and vines sprouted everwhere
it was not a process that could of occured in just a few years
in fact, it had been over hundreds of years since this place was abandoned(or destroyed since i dont understand the context of how this place was left behind.)
there was nothing funny about this scene which painted was a civilzation being destoryed.
by the wheel of time grinding all to dust(could use another word or phase to describe how time does what it does), made me sad.

"Each and every tree had vines growing on their trunks and were weathered, this condition would not be reached in just a handfull of years."

As I understand it, someone is watching a scenery with a bunch of overgrown, weathered trees, and they think about how it must have taken a good deal of time for it to become like this.

basically saying that it must have been quite a while, as reaching such a state will take a long time, not just a few years.

The intent is basically the same... It's just the phrasing that is pretty hard.
