Here are some facts from working with Qidian (Noodletown)

Yes agreed. Some of the things I love about the translators at WW are
1) Their works are of quality, high standards, not mtl and are PROPERLY DONE. At the very least, their work is of standard English. I don't have to push myself to try to understand what they are translating. Even if there are mistakes, they are only of slight grammatical mistakes. No sentence structure problems, no gross grammar mistakes, no gross spelling mistakes. It's QUALITY WORK.

2) The speed that most of their work are released. Yes, there are some that almost never update (TDG) but most of the work (especially among the original 20 before the whole mass migration) update at least daily. They have some of the fastest rates of release (WMW, ISSTH for example). The best part is that they stick to their schedules. They STICK TO IT and keep their promises.

3) Their chapter teasers. If they are not short excerpts from the next chapter, they are either pictures that capture the essence of the chapter or memes that do the same thing. The memes of ISSTH are what I live for Everyday - that's why there's even a whole link created for all the memes ever on ISSTH.

WW was the first ever novel translation platform that I used. It was the one to introduce me to this community. Not Qidian. Qidian has only been giving me works of low quality that is barely any better than mtl

Regardless of everything else, I already used bakatsuki as an example. Also I guess it depends on how you define 'successful' but that's a whole different can of worms that I don't think we need to open right now.

I could explain things in detail but too lazy to type long words. But. No matter the news bad or good still counts as publicity.

Then again despite the con of qidian or ww they already establish their own comunity of reader, albeit qidian move is too rushed and the comunity of reader is leave to stagnant...for now...as the premature growth.

You know why the reason why qidian can become the shark in it's industry in china? No? Good move in roping talented author. A calendary author compt. That's why they could rope a big amount of author imo.

Then again... it's still goes back to reality.

Some people would still use qidian.

Ww already moving to do another business with 17k and zongheng.

A new potential reader will try to probe each site because the news. Yes. Both qidian and ww will get new influx of newborne chinese novel reader .

Goes back to the start... it's all about publicity. (tried to be neutral here, too lazy to debate)

To make use of unsalvaged situation. A waste could be made into fertilizer.

Bakatsuki is a very different animal from what they once were years ago. And they have their own drama.

Qidian is doing great job for community. Supporting translators and original authors when they aren't earning anything themselves..
