So, im curious about this and wanted to make a pool... If you had no other choice in between, what will you choose? 1. To be a hero/Anti-hero and save the day, be a good person which strives for good and eliminate anyone who is evil, and corruption is something you abhor and wish to eliminate completely. You have kindness but you are firm in your beliefs. For you, someone who does evil needs to be punished and not forgiven. Everyone knows that you always tell the truth and have faith in your persona. Lastly, you have the divine right to own everything you loot from evil 2. Be a villain and destroy everything and everyone no matter the cost, for you killing 100.000 is a cheap price for a benefit, if you can get money by cheating everyone, you will do it even if you must trample over their bodies. In your eyes, your own wishes are above all else, no matter if you destroy a country or not
suicide commit sudoku is better than those two nonsense option~ who give those nasty narrow lack on deep like 3 years old description of character? kamisama? this cat will kill it! you there OP! time to smack on ya butt and head! nah bothersome~ this cat is lazybum so nay~ go ahead be hero or evil~ where option villager A
If it's that extreme obviously then hero. This form of villain has nothing to look forward to. Destruction will get boring after a while, and the best benefits usually come from cooperation, not from trampling over others. This villain will just go out in a blaze of destruction either by society retaliating or from destroying everything and starving
I rarely see heroes tackle corruption in stories. The ones posted here tend to lean towards "a bit of corruption is only natural and right" and the story only punishes a few who have gone too far with the corruption. So by your definition, most MCs here wouldn't be heroes.
Neither, being neutral is the best then you could use whichever way that would benefit you the most at certain events.
In general a villain because A hero for one is a mass murderer for another (in fantasy) but if it's only the two options above, then I gotta go with hero (barf)
Id go villain. But in moderate rank. Just to put fear in common people, not enough for heroes to kill me over prestige. I wont be bogged down by endless request, but still can do good deeds to friends.
If I must pick a role, but capable of limiting the ham to a minimum, I'd pick hero. If not, the villain. No one here likes to place the antagonist, sure we sometimes exhibits antagonistic behaviours, thoughts and etc, we don't brand ourselves as true evil. But if you want me to be mister goody two shoes for the rest of my life, following the whims of the weak and perhaps exploiting, I rather pick killing because it is easier in the sense that doing nothing is easier for me. If I must kill, I will do it in the Kira way, ie hypocritical and self serving in the righteous department. This to me is because how much you limit the path of hero to be so narrow and uninhabitable for the common folks. Look at Cure in Redo of Healer, he got buttfucked (literal and methaphor) and crumpled like a paper. Look at the Lazy Swordmaster with the broken hero. Look at Naofumi. All these good people getting unwanted anal fornification by society (cuz we live in it) and everyone would rather pick the selfish path. As quoted by Sou Sou, "better to wrong the world than have it wrong me."
is there really a difference? I mean most story book heroes are technically false heros same as the villains. The only difference is the point of view and how they "think". I mean think about it ... both sides don't normally hold a job or pay taxes, cause more destruction than insurance companies can pay out, run rampant and do what they want and don't answer to anyone unless killed off ...
I think I would still prefer a savior complex hero to that hero... like, forgives everyone and builds orphanages... Who thinks it is better to make every child happy to stop them from going down the wrong path, rather than killing the people already on the wrong path. The kind that gets shown in flashback as the protagonist's mentor, who ultimately got stabbed in the back by people he trusted because he was too kind and stupid, and that is why MC will not do the same mistake.
If I had to pick, I'd say Anti-hero. Teetering on the precipice of the abyss while having another foot firmly over the nutsack of angels, just one wrong move and you get to gift your friends (and enemies) a taste of an eternal vacation. Demon king? Pfft, they're sending you a monthly kickback so that you don't visit them personally. The church and human royalty? They're in the midst of a power struggle to secure your betrothal with one of theirs. While you? You were fabricated into a killing machine with just enough goodwill left in there. And your sole purpose for the past few years has been safeguarding some dogs and cats you've rescued. You admit that it doesn't suit your personality, yet you grumble on every morning as you let them out of your hideout to take a shit.
I'd try choosing something different anyways. I have my morals and I'll stick to them, and neither option fits with my morals. Villain is like... Uhn... No? As for Hero, I don't mind doing good deeds, but I'm not gonna kill anyone, and forgiveness is a necessity when dealing with other people... Being a merciless executioner of all that I consider evil is important to me. And I'm definitely not robbing any dead. What I'd do would be to just stick to my morals... If I'm forced to choose between hero/villain, then I'd be a heroine that refuses to kill or to fight. I'd just become a heroine priestess of sorts. Preaching the words of whatever god/goddess happens to align with my morals and trying to help people out and having them follow the teachings of my deity or whatever. If that wouldn't work... Then well, I'd try it. The options you provided are simply impossible to follow for me~
