Got Interested in looking up the manga but It slowly died down. After a skimming through few pages of typical high school drama just to know what type of literature she submitted, I got tired of it and just gave up. Not a bit interested in the author hibiki in the least but more on what she submitted is all about, sadly the novel revolves around her.
Read up to chapter 33. Feels horrible man. The whole thing is about how she apparently has unique views on life and death, destroys every other author's desire to write, fights and kicks ass when she really has only her crazy mentality aiding her( trust me, there is only so much that could push her when she is frailer than even a regular small japanese 1 year high schooler) and apparently her childhood friend is still not in the mentally ill hospital, prison or killed for his complete lack of humanity( in essence, he is a parody of loving caretaker type of people). Seemingly perfect, he has a room fully plastered with photographs of Hibiki ( main chara chick) that he still updates, his mom and Hibiki know it and his mom is creeped so much she doesn't like to enter, he gets told by multiple people how repulsive he is since he already planned how Hibiki and him will end up together, have a family, she will be a housewife and will die together happily( 1-2 characters hear his plans not by accident but find it out from him verbally, directly, and most of all casually stated). And he really hates losing sight of her, like really really hates it. Even if it doesn't show much on his face, his eyes get drawn all empty like. Talent is apparently something that completely dies out when an author has " no more principles rejected by the world ". All we find out about her novel is that it had a beautiful death scene, described a village life of a dancer girl and couldn't be chronologically placed. Beautiful death scene is also mentioned in regards to someone else's novel that was considered a masterpiece. Main girl's thing is that she always fights( every couple of chapters at least she will beat someone up, no matter how much bigger, stronger, sturdier and more experienced they are) so apparently she flunked out of Ryouzanpaku for being too crazy and weak and wandered into a manga about pure literature. Being the alpha female there is no consequences for this. Sometimes pther women get to land a slap or 2 but that is it. In 33 chapters the only other character showing some positive characterisation is an accomplished author of romance novels Kikyou ( you guessed it, there is none in her life). Since the poor woman got stuck with poor looks she gets called ape and gorilla everywhere she goes, refuses to submit an author portret and pictures, and doesn't even blink at how people treat her. There is only 3 people who disregarded her looks so far. Top dog author Sobue Akihito(? forgot his first name) who is already married and painfully shy-seeming, we haven't seen much of him. Lit club prez ( Sobue Rika). First person's daughter. Mature, talented, beautiful, friendly with all, intelligent but gets ignored by all serious people in the lit business in favor of Hibiki. Since her family and older people in her father's business never took her seriously and still don't regarding her passion for literature and writing talent she is very insecure. And of course, the author's pet, avatar, Word Goddess and the greatest shit ( why yes despite the eldritch abomination cloaked in human skin stalking her she is worse) fucking Hibiki. Gonna read the other 10 chaps translated and then edit in the grade here at commment's end. Maybe it all gets turned for the better, who knows. Edit: 97/1000 0.97% So yeah, nothing. It seemed to improve when Hibiki and Rika made up and were friends again. Not minding another blow to Rika since it was already expected I continued reading. Kayo was za best! Stupidity and tenacity for the win! So there were some good chapters. Seeing other authors characterized so quickly and completely was an ingenious feat. It was incredibly easy to sympathize with them and they felt like another main cast being crossed over rather than extras. That said the MC ruins the manga. She has good points, yes. But she is relied on for too much. She is an unreachable rival for every other writer. She affects other people as if she was an empress ( not with reason or looks but charisma ). Her speeches are something the victims all succumb to ( every time she starts questioning someone it feels like the author is performing lobotomy on real people because they were introduced full of life and then simply change at her words instantly and beg her for answers) She is always there to add shock value by fighting and being random. It felt like someone took dishes you would usually eat and then just decided to see if you would still eat it if it all clashed horribly and could leave you disgusted for a while even for your favorite dish.
