hi! looking for historical romance or slice of life novels where leads aren’t the center of palace intrigues/palace schemes/harem fight/power struggle etc. easy to say, a novel where you don’t need to hold your breath? it can be among the commoners or nobles (including the ones from court eg: officials or generals) as long as the leads themselves aren’t aiming to become emperor or empress. iykyk tenk kyu
I dunno about political intrigue as I haven't read these novels myself, but the author of Counterattack of the Cannonfodder Chamber Maid has novels written in the same universe, same timeframe. The couple in Cannonfodder Chamber Maid are the ones to rule over the empire, so the other books (I think the titles are Fierce Consort and something about a commoner man and his wife) should be free of imperial political conflict.
Fields of gold fits the thing for me. just warning you that it is a lighthearted novel. don't take it too seriously
