Is it okay to share spoilers here? I'm at 75% of the first book. The novel status is completed with consisting only 2 books. By the way, after reading both the manhwa promo and the novel, I was surprised of how differ both two are. For example, in the manhwa it's as if the Grand Duke suddenly appears out of nowhere and said "I know you are Ferdy, I'll teach you stuffs~" in a seductive manner, while on the novel well that's not kinda what it looks like. Spoiler It was Vivian who seduced Ray a.k.a Grand Duke first. The Grand Duke visits the library everyday hiding his identity as a scholar named Ray. Their relationship starts off with a friendly acquaintance. Vivian is very curious about Ray because he is so keen in hiding identity and grows to like him. When Vivian's boss, Dendro, the publisher, said that Vivian needs to have a boyfriend to experience what is love, she seduced Ray daringly, not knowing that Ray is actually the Grand Duke at all. Ray initially not reciprocate her advances, but in the end things started to turn really funny when Ray finally found out that Vivian is Ferdy because she accidentally gave him the wrong book in the library containing her secret porn notes. Ray's behaviour then turns completely 360 degree to Vivian, he began to flirt back with Vivian. Vivian flirts really daring to the point that Ray was like "What do you want from me? Power? Money?" and Vivian was like "I want your BODY" Ray then agrees to take her out on a date. In her happiness, she realised that her secret porn notes is gone and the culprit is none other than Ray. Ray ghosted her for days, making her suspicion grow. She then started going like "Ray you THIEF! You SWINDLER!! Gimme back my note book!!!" And hence once she finally met Ray at the library and confronted about her missing note book, Ray then tells her that he is actually the Grand Duke Aiden. Vivian then got scared because the Grand Duke is the Emperor's brother. After much debate, Grand Duke Aiden was telling Vivian that he wants to make Vivian the greatest porn novelist in the entire universe. I'll give a spoiler for the characters mentioned in the novels so far Vivian Spoiler She was actually raised as a noble, the only daughter of a count family. Her mother is the one who has the noble bloodline. Her father was a merchant, but was stupid and act rashly. Her father started out a business, but when her family's only trading ship sank on the sea with all the goods, their family gone bankrupt. After hearing that dreaded news, her mother ended up committing suicide. Afterwards, her father gone alcoholic and later found dead on the street after being hit with a wagon. The count title and the family estate then was passed to her abusive uncle. Vivian at her very young age pretty much doesn't have anything unless her pretty face, that's why her evil uncle's family is trying to marry her away. She ended up choosing to swore chastity to the imperial family and then becoming a night librarian rather than being married away. Her purple eyes is described as the rarest eye color, even more rare than the Emperor's/Grand Duke Aiden's. Grand Duke Aiden / Ray Spoiler Also disguised as Ray, the scholar, he was initially the crown prince. The first in line to be the emperor, but ended up giving it away to his younger brother (the current Emperor). Rumours was he was a menace and troublemaker from his young early days that's why he doesn't end up being chosen as the emperor. The rumours got so bad that he was regarded as the scary evil grand duke throughout the country. And he doesn't seem to mind any of it. Handsome face with a black hair and piercing blue eyes. Vivian described him as speak and act like a scholar but his body frame and gestures was much like a noble. Dude has many scars all over his body. His calloused hands also a sign of being used to handle swords. Dude has a castle that looks like Castle Dracula in Transylvania. Vivian's first time with him was done in his castle dracula. Fun fact: He smokes cigarette. Deandro Spoiler Vivian's boss, the owner of the book publisher company. At first the book publisher company almost went bankrupt, but ever since Vivian published her first porn novel with this publishing company, it turns out a huge success and the company is saved. He has a blonde hair and a somewhat good-looking face, yet he has a knacks for MILFs hence always ended up in love affairs with married wives . This duke is a jerk who treats Kardel poorly with abuse and insults even if he loves her(?) and knows that she loves him. He helps Kardel became the country's flower that makes the Emperor's notice Kardel. Brown long hair neatly tight back. Black eyes? Does that even important? I forgot. Emperor Spoiler He's also a jerk. He's madly in love with Kardel for her beauty, but treats her awfully nevertheless (poor Kardel). With the same piercing blue eyes, He looks like twins with Grand Duke Aiden, but the difference is his hair is silver. If Grand Duke Aiden is the night/moon, then he is considered as the day/sun. He's originally the second line in throne, but eventually became the Emperor when Aiden lose favor due being a menace as a child. But he's still in good terms with Grand Duke Aiden though since Aiden didn't seem interested in becaming an Emperor whatsoever. He is itching to have Grand Duke Aiden married off for political means but the Grand Duke's always refused. Also a casanova like Duke of Bron, he was known as his superior prowess in the bed.
What's wrong with the Grand Duke Aiden. Dude is mysterious AF no joking here. Spoiler So eventually Grand Duke Aiden bring Vivian to his castle. Our Vivian got so excited to finally have first date with Ray/Aiden. The daring girl flirts with him from the start of the road trip until she arrived to his castle. Much to her surprise when she arrived to Grand Duke Aiden's castle dracula, not only the outer appearance of the castle looks scary, but the insides are too. Even the butler and the maids gives an eerie vibe. Vivian was surprised that Grand Duke Aiden's arranged a vacation leave from her job as night librarian to stay in the Castle. While Vivian's imagination is running wild, the Grand Duke said that he already prepared a study room for her to continue her novel work. He said that Vivian is free to roam everywhere in his castle unless the basement cellar. Vivian was confused. What is inside the cellar that he hides? Why is the Grand Duke always goes out to 'train' every night? Curious Vivian as expected tried to go inside the basement and the cellar. She was shocked to hear the sound of an animal growling. She was scared and tries to run away aimlessly, but in the end reached out to the bedroom and bumped to the Grand Duke. He was seen carrying a sword. But he smelled like blood? Has he ever killed somebody? Why he has many nasty scars all over his body? He doesn't look like a royal family by doing dirty works himself. Vivian tries to question him politely but the Grand Duke won't even spill a thing. She then started to wander if her relationship with Grand Duke is a relationship of a lover? Both of them do not seem to trust each other enough to share their secrets. The Grand Duke said that he doesn't want to "love" Vivian but is shown to be possessive over her. Just the thought of Vivian will go to another man because she doesn't wear chastity ring anymore drives him mad. He was like, I'll let you have a taste of my grand d*ck so don't even think about going to another man ever. He wants to bound Vivian mentally and physically. Vivian is at the point of regretting is having her chastity ring removed and making a contract with Grand Duke Aiden is the right thing.

Get well soon General summary of the story... hmmm okay, first lemme explain, basically this novel "History at the Library" story consists of 2 main character arcs: - Vivian x Grand Duke Aiden/Ray story - Cardell x Emperor Julian story (with Duke of Bronn the jerk ass as the third wheel) My analysis of why on earth the title is "History at the Library" Spoiler because both of the main characters (vivian x grand duke and also cardell x emperor) were bound to meet and intertwined to each other in the library. The library is a silent witness about so many things happening to the main characters. Summary of the story till the part I have arrived in previous post, surprisingly is the same as the intro of the novel and the promo manhwa. Vivian is a night librarian who works every day in the library. While actually in disguise she is known as the world's best porn novelist, Ferdy. After releasing previous works, Ferdy was criticized as having the same porn scene over and over again, so it's not becoming so intriguing anymore. The publisher, Dendro, her boss and also her childhood friend says she need some new sexual inspiration for her new novel, brags about his accomplishments with MILFS and so on. She's like "What am I supossed to do? Have snusnu with random guy?" Vivian don't even have a boyfriend. She's also wearing a chastity ring (sign to be bound for life to imperial family). She'll be dead if she's doing snusnu with anybody while still wearing her chastity ring. Not passing any opportunities, Vivian then starting to take notes of the details this scene (this leads to the secret porn notes which was stolen by Ray in previous post). But unfortunately, when trying to peek a little more closer, Vivian is found out by the silver haired man, his piercing blue eyes glared over the bookshelves to meet with Vivian's purple eyes. Vivian then realized (from his piercing blue eyes) that it was Emperor Julian. Afraid of getting caught further, Vivian ran away hurriedly. The next few days, Vivian is doing her night shift again and awkwardly stumbled upon the same blonde girl again but with different man Vivian again not wanting to miss another opportunity for her new novel, Vivian instead of disgusted of the blonde girl, she was actually praising her because she can conquer a lot of men . But when during snusnu time, the blonde girl confessed her love to the man, said "I loved you" but the man replied "I don't believe a word of love from a whore like you". It was like WTH, that man turns out to be Duke of Bronn (Vivian recognized his hair color), then he left the blonde girl on a state of a mess. Seriously the man was a huge jerk ass. Vivian didn't run away this time but was able to hide from the Duke of Bronn. She then helped the blonde girl in her state of a mess, offer to get a new clothes and stuffs. Then she realized the blonde girl was actually her childhood friend, Cardell. Cardell actually feeling very embarassed but fortunately Vivian didn't asked anything or pressure her to tell what is happening between her and both of the males. Is there any sort of love triangle or something? Finally, Cardell tells Vivian everything. About her being a tool for her family and Duke of Bronn to get to the Emperor. And the Emperor despite knowing that but falls madly in love with Cardell nevertheless. The story of Cardell triangle love then became the inspiration for Vivian's next porn novel. Changing a bit about the Emperor being toned down as the Grand Duke, and the Duke of Bronn character being a count. Then the story proceeds to the point of my first spoiler when Ray visits the library, Vivian liking and flirting with Ray and Ray somewhat 'steal' her secret porn notes. Does Vivian has any competition? Spoiler Relax ladies, Vivian is safe. She doesn't have any competition at all. Grand Duke doesn't have any past relationship or some crazy chicks head over heels for him like in other manhwas or novel. Feel free to ask away any questions I'll try to answer as best I can. Oh and also, I could guess that this novel pretty much will not be turned into a manhwa, because the story is surprisingly very short (only 12 chapters) and there aren't a lot of climax.

Why the Grand Duke is so possesive towards Vivian. Spoiler: NSFW I'll go back a bit first, so you know when I told before that the Grand Duke brings Vivian to his castle? Vivian of course very excited, she is so ready to experience her first time with a man after having a chastity ring removed. A lot of flirting going on even on the carriage ride she was like "Kiss me now" in the carriage, but Grand Duke ignores her advances and kept reading book until they arrives at the castle. After arriving at the castle, still our girl Vivian is not a quitter so heavy flirting going on towards the Grand Duke even though he was SO COLD towards her. He was like kept reading books more and more. Vivian was at the point like this towards the Grand Duke who is still reading a book in the sofa. When there is still no response from the Grand Duke, Vivian finally on the verge of giving up, and she said something like this "I liked Ray more (because Grand Duke Aiden is so cold towards her). It's okay if you don't like me, I don't want to burden you anymore. I don't want you to sacrifice (your body) for me to finish my novel. I will go find another man" His attitude changed 360 degree, he was so trigerred when Vivian says she want to go to another man. So, the Grand Duke unleash his inner beast and then gave her real rough night, many times on her first time (on the studyroom, on the bathroom, on the bedroom(?). Well anyway, the Grand Duke feels bad afterwards though, he took care of her because she fell ill the day after. Fast forward to when Vivian knows that he hides secret from her (the basement cellar), she was like "you won't say you love me, but everyday we are doing 'lewd' things. What are we? 's*x partner?" Oh, the Grand Duke was so triggered hearing that. A lot of banging goes afterwards and he became so possessive towards her because he always feels scared of losing her. In his eyes, Vivian is the most beautiful girl in the entire universe and due to somewhat her daring personality with her 'sexual curiosity' he afraid that she will spread her legs to any man. This led towards to the point he is jealous to Dendro not once, but twice (not letting Vivian go alone when meeting him, and threatening him). Dendro is blonde and good looking too. Emperor Julian said that he is already a very obsessive type person, first the books, now that he has Vivian, it was getting worse. Spoiler When they finally realized their true feelings will be a long way to go nearing the end of the novel. After a lot of misunderstanding, Vivian finally coping to accept that she loves Grand Duke Aiden no matter how much he is a man with a lot of mysteries and secrets. She is at the point of loving him so much that he will accept him no matter what he is, a serial killer or not. She even have the maid and butlers of the castle help her in preparing her love confession. Like making a window with heart shaped, and putting flowers on the path he usually takes to go inside the castle, basically cheesy stuff. But when she goes confessing, the Grand Duke intercepts her love confession, and declares his love first to Vivian.
