Why don’t all the dads or mums react in movies when a little kid shouts dad or mum why is it only the kids actual parents shouldn’t the other parents in the area also react from instinct if nothing else cause they’ve also been called dad and mum for years?

If I heard a child cry for their parents, I'd definitely react to it, even if I don't have children myself yet.

I mean... There is a child shouting, isn't it natural to look their way?

Maybe it's bystander effect or maybe it's plot. Probably the latter, actually.

Maybe their kids call them another equivalent of mum and dad, maybe their kids' voices are different (most likely), maybe their kids are grown up, maybe they are hard of hearing or couldn't hear over the surrounding din...

Because it would divert the spectator's attention if a bunch of unimportant people react in the scene on screen?

I don't know what exactly you're referring to... Maybe I should watch more movies sometime?

I know I would react, but I can see the parents react stronger because they recognize their child’s voice. While a stranger has worried outlook. While a parent has a cold shiver. A flash of adrenaline. A heart stopping moment. An irresistible fear. A knee jerk will to move before thought. It’s an instinct older than time it self. That transcends species. That every mother and father can understand.
    If I had to guess.
Other than the fact it’s better for the movie that way

I meant when kids are trying to call their parents in general not for a terrified scream like to get their attention you aren’t using their name so randomly shouting mum or dad and expecting only them to acknowledge that is stupid

Here’s the thing. If my girl called me Babe or Honey. I would respond, but call me by my name. I’m like who’s that. The same for kids.

True. Once you get used to a nickname, being called by your given names feels pretty jarring. On the other hand its pretty interesting the parallels between this and the cultures where hearing your name instead of your surname is perceived as 'closer'.

    voice recognition.... duh~
society~ now that tricky part, depend on TPO~ on place where bunch of kids scream around such as playground voice recognition play vital role~ on place or occasion usually quite when someone scream almost everyone will turn around~
