I think this question is like asking why do some people like watching tragic things and bawl their eye out (like me). I know a lot of people don't like sad stories and stay away from what otherwise is a masterpiece to me.

 

That's a completely different concept, since there are reverse harems too.

Harems are built on the premise that all the parts involved knew how things would be and are okay with it. There's no cheating, betrayal or stealing of lovers.

 

Not necessary, I'm pretty sure some author out there is capable of giving money sentience and have feelings.

The whole Netori and Netorare are two sides of a coin. And since you can generalize it as MC steals a significant other or MC loses a significant other. I think it would depend on the story overall.

I enjoy a good NTR read, but there are many that I find boring, maybe because I have a tendency to relate fiction to RL.
I can go out on a limb and say, a good NTR puts emphasis on all characters involved and there is a plot too. There are internal and external reasons to why the characters do certain things.

I believe there is a level of NTR in "every" story it's just not the main emphasis of that particular story.

Well, I enjoy NTR the most in hentai, but if it's for the story then I don't fucking want it.

The poll is missing an option, "I don't mind it". The poll implies you can either love it or hate it. As long as the story is good who cares. Some people hate movies with sad bleak endings. I don't mind them. Hell I even think some mediocre movies with happy endings would be amazing with dark endings.

For example, Minority Report, a good (but not memorable) movie. It would have been amazing to end it when the main character was being frozen in the jail, with the old bad guy giving the speech in the background. Or AI, just end it when the kid finds the fairy (it would have pissed the 'happy ending' people off though).

I wonder, what people that hate NTR think of 'Seven'...

Well, I'm pretty sure there are shoujo manga/stories out there where similar things occur and I wouldn't mind reading about it. It has more to do with the MC(the character you are relating to) not getting hurt by it all.

 

I don't think Dark Blue's MC was that bad but I agree, what it usually infuriates me are the protagonists. They know the girls they like are being raped and they don't try to help them, they watch the girls they like having sex with other men and they masturbate. I hate that piece of garbage more than the guys doing the NTR. Then there are the protagonists that aren't garbage (and sometimes aren't at fault and are good people) but it's too depressing to me.
There are also the rare case with a good ending where in the end the protagonist preserves the girl like Five Card but I don't like those either.

 

Most, not all Netorare stories that I've come across, the Male MC becomes a possibility of the following:

• Cuckold - Where he knows his partner has an awesome time with the Anti and he accepts it (sometimes unwillingly) but still has feelings for that partner
• Ghost - Former of what he was, no trust in others, loathing, and more self-loathing. Basically crawl somewhere and cry(die)
• Specter - the literal "If I can't have you, nobody else can/will." Followed by gore and disturbing descriptions

Well, that's indeed netorare, but for sure not a harem. That's just the man being loose and indecisive.

A story that comes to mind by your example would be School Days. The guy ended up fucking practically the whole school, but I believe him to be one of the most bashed characters that I know of. That anime was shit by the way.
