Would you rather read a novel series where the author has to explain every little thing to it, and expects the reader to be an idiot. Or would you rather have the author make it a bit confusing, letting the reader think and not be zombies.

Well, that depends. Am I sitting down, expecting to learn something new? What mood am I in?

Sometimes, I like my classics. Dostojevskij, John Steinbeck etc.. and sometimes I just want some mental masturbation.

Are you talking specifically about LN and WNs? Or are you talking about any form of literature?

Hey, explaining things can be a good way to increase word count needlessly. Wordcount=money. Give you the illusion of a full chapter while in reality, the story isnt moving forward at all. But it gets people satisfied in the short term. So why not?

I like it when it's not filled with information dump and instead is slightly confusing. Then throughout the novel there's hints which after a certain point gives you that 'oh that was it' moment when you figure it out.

Luffy Intelligent when I'm in a playful mood, but Lelouch Intelligent most of the time.

However, I don't like novels where the author will explain everything Over and Over and Over and Over Again.

Well... After reading a lot translations I pretty much like anything that disregards having a reincarnated legendary emperor into a trash son of the family in the countryside. Makes me cringe after seeing it so many times :'(

I prefer it when the novel drops tidbits of information through that all-together lead towards building a bigger picture, like in the case of Undefeated God of War currently, its slowly building up its world and not just dumping down all the needless information right away, instead waiting for when its more appropriate to give when its more relevant to know. We still don't really know much about the structure of the world yet.

I always hate how the characters say something obvious or something unnecessary or something everyone else knew or something coincident. All of these give the readers a good dose of Exposition but it's too Illogical for me to not notice.

Not too much mysteries like LLS that took it too far where there are more questions than answers but I do like me a good murder mystery novel.

Depends on the genre and the amount of polish I am expecting, but I like detail not info dumps So i guess thats a bit different from the author explaining everything over and over again.
Reactions are fine for a while but if it stretches for multiple chapters I start to lose it q.q

What I personally like is how the info is given in DE and how the world expands little by little. For example first I thought the Ji clan was a huge place and the the marquis then the world now we get to understand the real size and the groups more.

I can go with either depnding on the story, but i hate the same thing being repeated over and over again if something is explained once it should have been enough.
