So I was extending the lease of a library book online, and I happened to see that since I applied I have borrowed 1300+ books. This lead me to thinking about how many books I've read. Considering that I have 200+ books on my bookshelf and I hardly buy books, as well as that most of the books I read nowadays are ebooks. I have come to the conclusion that it's atleast 2000 (conservative estimate) By books I mean actual books. Not magazines. Not newspapers. Not textbooks. Not manuals. Books meant for recreational reading. Useless statistics - The average length of the books I've read is perhaps 300 pages long. That's about 75,000 words. It takes me about 5 hours to read that if I do it in one sitting. That means I've approximately read 600,000 pages (2000 x 300), and 150 million words. And it's taken me about 10,000 hours (2000x4.5). 10,000 hours is about 1.15 years (10000/8760). This means I've spent an average of 2 hours 30 minutes a day reading ((10,000x24)/(8760x10)). Spoiler: Assumptions made The usual length of books I read is a lot longer than 300 but I'm assuming they were shorter when I was younger so maybe it'd balance out to 300 250 words to a page Read at 250 words/min actually it's probably closer to 300 but w/e Started reading regularly at about 8 years old I haven't read every book I borrowed Spoiler: The most reading I've ever done in one go I once read The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan in two weeks. It's a 14 book epic, with each book being about 800 pages and 300,000 words long. For a total of about 11,000 pages and 4.3Million words in two weeks, 14 days. I did nothing but maintain my health and read for two weeks. Just take a best guess!!
No idea, just know that it is an excessive number. Plus I like to reread books I particularly enjoyed, so do they count twice? I have worked in a library as well as bookstores. My Kindle is packed. And one of my favorite activities when I was poor was hanging out at B&N to read in their comfy chairs.
Yeah I'd say so. I've probably read some of my favourites 6+ times over. (Harry Potter, Lightbringer, Kingkiller)
...........Who knows?....Not like I count from my birth till now, so how will I know the numbers anyway?....Thousands maybe
I know I've read over 1k+ books simply through Goodreads ratings. Ive only done that for about 5 or so years though, so probably somewhere on the order of 4 times that would be accurate since I read more when I was young and had more time. So in the range of 4-8k would be about right.
I read a lot but probably a few books. I read encyclopedias and history books before averaging 300 pages. And read 2 history books 600 pages thick. That's a lot considering I'm lazy as fuck.
