Question how many members of a harem is too much

It would be hard to make so many characters different and memorable and at the same time all involved in the story, unless your whole story is centered around the harem and the harem members' struggles.

One night stands and exes are not harem members, I am only talking about long-term, formal ones. But I don't think you should go into the details too much even for the short-term ones.

The Ultimate Past's Rene fucked half of the book but the main ones are Anton, Lorry, Sam, Leon, (Alex and Jack can each count as half?), (one night stands, rapists and Higgins don't count) and I think that's as much as I can handle so I voted for 5s.

 

Hmmm, but having too many is hard... Many of the novels where harem tags are place, it's a struggle to keep on introducing and developing various love targets.. And it makes the novel long (sometimes, redundant even)... Though it wouldn't be a problem if the author somehow able to work it out with various personality put in different scenarios yet still keeping it interesting... (that's a lot of work..) ...but what ever I don't mind..(just that it annoying to remember too many names, which I easily forgets..)

 

When i cant remember or recognize the harem character while reading, there's too many in the harem .. for me >•<"
But im just terrible at remembering characters and things so

 

There's a few, then there are many.
Both are not my taste.
