How much would it cost to hire a translator for a complete translation of a CN ln/wn? Let's say 1400 chs, I don't know the usual word count it adds upto. Also would it be alright to make a request for the same here, if I do decide to do it.
The minimum professional translator's rate is $0.08/wd. Let's say you pay ten times less than that it is still 0.008 And the average chapter length of Chinese novel is 3000 words, so it is roughly $24 per chapter. You can multiply that by the number of chapters you want.
Say 35-40 thousand usd or so and that would be with a cheap rush job if you want high quality double or triple that
Unless you want someone to rip you off. How about 6$/h and then each chapter takes 6 hours to translate?
That’s how most translators charge depending on how it’s written it might take 10 minutes to translate a paragraph or over a hour
Now you know why you should be nice to all the translators here. Praise them, thank them, leave encouraging comments and ko-fi if you can. Turn off ad blocker if they ask. Because the sheer amount of work offered for free to the readers is insane. Even if it's just touched up MTL. It could only ever be a labor of love.
Yeah, MTLers are the In-betweeners. I can translate for US$15 per chapter. That will still come up to 21K. Your best bet is to wait for a translator group to pick it up.
