Honestly I see different dynamics to the throne depending on detail and amount of magic in this settting. One is communication. If the chair has to be in the throne room to work the king has to figure out a communication method to inform his generals in 8 to 12 hour. While great for defensive measures it isn’t so great for invasion (assuming it has a limited range). If the king is a sorcerer, any spell or curse that need line of sight and name just became a deadly and viable option. Last can the throne project images? Any information the throne has might not be useable in court. Only one person has access to the information so what is to say that it isn’t fabricated? The king might have accidentally set the president if scrying spells are a thing in his court.
