Americans could dunno... build brick and mortar houses instead of wood and knauf ones that get blown out by the wind like in the 3 pigs story.

 

You're either seriously underestimating hurricanes or seriously overestimating the advice of fictional pigs. Brick and mortar (or steel-reinforced concrete) houses will stand up to debris a little better, and water damage a lot better, but worse against wind. But they can still be damaged or even demolished just fine by hurricanes, and they're a lot more expensive to repair and to build in the first place, so it's not much of an advantage.

 

Don't underestimate the pigs!

That is actually the correct answer, your bath tub is probably the safest place in a house.
