So I was doing my thing when microsoft edge starts with a search for 'remote access for desktop windows 10 computer' displayed in Chinese.

How do I check for intrusions? How do I protect myself? Event viewer shows me a bunch of logon and special logons, some are normal, how do I tell which one is not?

Thankfully my windows 10 is a home edition with no remote access(or so the system screen tells me)

I did a quick search online and found this site: https://www.lifewire.com/disable-windows-remote-desktop-153337

    It looks correct.

There are a few other things you can try like sandboxing, firewalls, virus scanning, keeping your computer up to date, visiting safe websites only, but you really have to ask yourself two questions first:
    1. Is there sensitive information on your computer?
    2. Do you have everything backed up if you need to wipe and reinstall everything?

In the end, I think that unless you recently made a mortal enemy, you're not going to get hit. Hackers prefer larger targets or web servers as those are more worth spending the time to hit / are easier to break into without being noticed.

Handholding? Vanilla? You're not including public handholding?

I think that's when the feds will monitor you closely. The moment they find out about your handholding with interlocked fingers is the moment you get raided tho.

To prevent remote access a firewall, configure the one with windows, or install one. But if no one else has access to your system, then that means that your system is already compromised.

so if your system is compromised I won't bet in the "no remote access"

First step should be check your modem and update its security.

If the modem was fine then only way to be sure your PC has no backdoors is reinstall windows from a secure source and follow step by step all security measures. Be sure to have firewall on and a good antivirus, if you had any software from not official websites do not install it again.

Once everything is correctly installed always keep your security agents updated and be sure to always use a good browser (aka no Edge or IE) and have always enabled the adblocks extensions.

Get net-cat and check all your open ports.
Find those ports on your router interface and close it.
