Basically, making a list of all those terms which would give away BL novels or discussion by putting my years of experience dodging BL into good use. List below: BL Yaoi Shounen ai Danmei Shou Gong Seme Uke Top Bottom Reversible (also "verse" or "switch" may be used as alternatives) Chrysanthemum Mpreg Male Wife Omegaverse/ABO (Alpha, Beta, Omega) MDZS GDC Priest MXTX The Untamed FoD Papapa Tintin Bent Slag/scum (generally goes with "shou") Ger The word "straight" being emphasized Also watch out for the word "marshal" And a few more I can't recall. Honestly, ever since I began using the release filter feature to exclude BL, I've gotten rusty... But remember, the best way to avoid BL is to NOT click on any title that seems remotely interesting... you can bet your ass it will turn out to be BL. Disclaimer: This thread was not made with the intention of denigrating BL lovers, and I hope no BL reader will take it as such. I also hope no one will lower themselves to BL bashing here. Let's all be civil.
Looks at you..... More knowledgeable than me, someone who actually reads BL....*shock* And also, yeah BL titles are generally really good!
HAHAHAHHA NOICE~ Unfortunately, you posted these strats half a decade late . I stumbled once and I'm past the point of no return
Hmmm maybe add the term 'Ger' too. It doesn't often appear in titles but if you see that word it's likely to be an mpreg novel set in ancient times. 'Straight' too. 'Straight' being emphasized is a sign that someone is going to be bent haha You can also exclude the 'Manly Gay Couple' tag in your release filter. Oh also 'Cheap'. Opposite of slag/scum gong and shou is a cheap gong/shou. This term rarely appears in the titles tho (at least NU BL doesn't have 'em)
You seem like the type to hide your sexual preference cause you don't wanna be shunned by the public.
As a BL lover, I actually had a chuckle at this. You could add "verse" as an alternative for "reversible". It also turns up sometimes even though probably not as often.
I'm pretty sure I've heard 'switch' being used instead of reversible sometimes Also, this isn't a hard rule, but most of the e-sport novels are at least yaoi or shounen ai And 8/9 times out of 10 if it has the word 'marshal' in the title or description its yaoi or shounen ai Finally lots of yaoi and shounen ai novels use 'wife' in the titles so don't just assume this mean female wife before you click on it yes so did I
I can spot if it's BL from the title usually If the title sounds fluffy like "Rich Hamster in the Apocalypse"/"Reborn as a Hamster", or "Last Cat in the Universe" It's BL If the title has "Film Emperor", "Live Broadcast" or "Quick Transmigration" It's BL If the title has romantic stuff like "How to Say I Love You" and "Like Love, But Not" It's BL ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I have the gay radar available for detecting BL novels accurately
