I read the prologue and I got hooked! Hahaha especially when she said, “You look so cute when you’re angry. I was just teasing you since you looked so handsome.” And also that typical romance novel she referenced to. I think that will happen to them both: “If you fall for me later and cancel the contract, you’re not a real man!” The Duke of Scade frowned at her words, which must have been a joke. “What nonsense is that?” “Oh, come on. That kind of scenario always happens in most of the novels I have read. Anyway, don’t fall for me and then cling onto me after. I’m leaving without mercy.” The Duke looked at his blonde hair and spoke emphatically. “Do you think that kind of scenario will happen with a face like yours?” “Bastard…..”
All this talk about the man's abs yesterday and how one user comments he looks like Callisto and then there's me and thought he looks like Fate Gilgamesh instead. Anybody got spoilers? Like the last days of their "marriage"? Is the duke freaking out on the deadline? Or how about the synopsis where he escorts her to her quarters?
Really. Guess I found one new random trivia. Still... Callisto hasn't fully captured a 10th of Gil's overbearingness. This one though, immediately caught my eye with his physical features, plus his cover clothes are really Gil's casuals in FSN. Also... bumping the thread. Anybody got spoilers? I'm mtling and they seem to be catching feelings (or at least fondness) surprisingly fast. Already banging after the wedding even though technically they might have gotten away with not "consummating" the marriage... ML already said "I'll do my best" like in the summary... MC talked about how sex with the husband she seemed to have been sold off to in her past life (seriously, apparently there wasn't even a proposal or anything, the families just decided "hey our kids should marry" and then heeyeon and unnamed asshole husband had a small wedding - in comparison, ML actually proposed, let her try on wedding dresses for HOURS, let her have her dream wedding with magical falling white wisteria flowers...) wasn't anything as passionate and heartfelt as with ML... And when Emeses and Alex were wandering the hallways after MC visited ML in the study, she suggested they hold hands to make it look convincing that they were a couple even though she'd already told the servants to split their whole bedroom/bathroom in half. Alex agreed but he was pretty reluctant to let go once they reached MC's room (because ML is staying in another one)... like a boyfriend unwilling to let a date end!!! Haha. And later when Alex offered to hold Emeses's hand because they were in the hallway again, she declined because "there are no servants to see" and he seemed kinda salty about it... Hehehe. Anyway the wedding was the perfect size: "small" enough for ML who was used to huge imperial events with a ridiculous amount of people, and "big" enough for MC who only had the bare minimum of people at her last wedding. It was kind of sad when ML gave her the responsibility to invite her friends to the wedding but then MC really couldn't think of anyone to invite (other than the tutor she got to teach her about the world - that's how she learned about noble society and also that ML definitely valued the world tree) because she'd transmigrated not that long ago and ML PROPOSED TO HER DURING THE FIRST SOCIAL OUTING SHE EVER WENT TO... I hope Emeses gets more friends... Oh yeah before the wedding Emeses told Alex a bunch of fairy tales (well, really just the story of Cinderella and the tale of Princess Pyeonggang and On Dal) and when she was feeling nervous as she was nearing the altar, Alex referenced them by yelling to her that she looked as beautiful as the two princesses and it was pretty sweet. After the wedding apparently ML's sister (Velice? MTL also says Velice is the Emperor but I thought the brother was the Emperor so... I am confused) donated a huge amount to the church to bless his union with MC. I can't really figure her out because in a flashback with ML after a battle apparently she was looking down on him coldly like at a monster? And the tea time she invited MC to after the wedding was framed ominously as fuck. ML was very suspicious of her donating to the church because he thought it was a statement like "haha you'll need THIS much money to stand a chance at getting MC to stay with you, since you're a monster"... I dunno.
Thanks for the spoilers @Wr3n Oh my goodness! To think this is ONLY their wedding day/night and early days of marriage and these two are being so adorbs! Alex especially! I need a bit of correction on the princess part, I'm not aware of the Kr folktale but you mentioned two names? Just to be sure its Cinderella and Princess Pyeonggang, right? I wonder if their plots will happen in this series? (Cinderella with either evil step relatives, supportive animals *but then again, we also have Snow white*, a pumpkin making some contribution, something about midnight, or leaving footwear at some point *I cut out fairy godmother since if I remember the prologue right, worldbuilding didn't mention magic*) As for the emperor/sister part, any way you could post the actual korean character/or sentence itself of her reference? Maybe our Kr specialists here could shed some light to it Edit: Also, any more snarky Alex lines? The sole review of the series specified this Edit2: Reread the prologue again, his sister was mentioned once, might be getting either an Empress or Sister-in-law (unless the characters are different)
yep it's those two. when emeses compared herself to cinderella (bc of her background pre-transmigration), alex didn't really get it bc he only knows Noble Lady Emeses who never suffered a day in her life so he mocked her a little, but at least he made up for it a little on her wedding day. Not sure if the plots themselves will play out in the story later... Cinderella kinda already did, if you consider that Heeyeon was worked like a dog for her family before she transmigrated and got to enjoy the good life + get married to a high-ranking noble guy. tbh i don't know much about Princess Pyeonggang and On Dal but what i do know, from the brief mention i saw in another krn novel + cursory google search + emeses's summary of the tale (that it involves a rich girl marrying a poor dumbass guy and the rich girl helping the poor dumbass rank up in society), it kinda fits. just with the genders swapped, as alex and emeses note, because emeses is kinda the poor dumbass girl marrying the rich guy, so it would be a Prince Pyeonggang and Lady Fool On Dal situation. there's definitely magic in this setting, tho - emeses mentioned wanting to become a wizard and do "wingardium leviosa" (i lmao'd when the mtl gave me that) and the tutor was like "u do know that only ppl of the imperial blood (basically, the emperor/empress + alex) can do magic." so emeses had to give up on that dream... rip her lol. WHY MAGIC SO CLASSIST hahaha. but at her wedding, she specifically got wizards to make falling white wisteria decorations (usually wisteria is purple, but she wanted white) so i guess some royal was working overtime to ensure mc really had the perfect wedding haha. i'll try to find the character/sentence mentioning the emperor/empress, and some snarky alex lines lmao. Edit: so i guess the downsides of having a smallish wedding where the general public still has no clue who you are has downsides, because after Emeses went to a dress shop to try on dresses, the clerk was a total bitch to her and insinuated that she was too poor to afford the dresses there. Like first there was that one pink coral dress that was "one of a kind" and then when Emeses wanted to try another yellow dress the clerk was like "haha no, your appearance doesn't fit the beauty of our clothes" or something. Then after Emeses stopped Rooney, her maid (? Tbh I'm p sure she's one of Alex's people but i don't remember whether she was a maid or a knight) from making a big deal out of the situation (which, COME ON YOU'RE A DUCHESS NOW, i get she doesn't want to be too recognized for later BUT IF YOU'RE A DUCHESS WHO CAN SHAME TF OUT OF THIS DUMBASS SNOB WHY NOT), the clerk went over to flatter some Marquis daughter literally named Karen and tell her she could have the dresses Emeses wanted, and the clerk basically told her to hand it over. It was so unpleasant and Alex coming over and telling everyone that Emeses was his wife and he was buying the whole shop's stuff was the only thing that saved this incident. But Emeses didn't want to patronize the shop so even though the clerk was begging for mercy, Emeses was just like "no thanks, I'll only take the pink and yellow dresses I wanted from before, because 'my appearance doesn't match the appearance of the wares' (Alex was SUPER ANNOYED at this quote), also I'm not coming here in the future because I can't get along with people who only judge by appearance." Then Alex and Emeses went to a pastry shop, Emeses stopped Alex from buying the whole shop (really, rich people ), and made another remark about rich people not working day-by-day like her that weirded Alex out, and while Emeses is enjoying the sweets, Alex is busy thinking that it's a waste of time to sit around eating pastries I guess. Emeses mocks him by saying a work addiction ghost possessed him and telling him about the benefits of a balanced lifestyle but Alex doesn't get it. Emeses says this is why Alex wanted to have a contract marriage and not a real relationship, and calls him Mosol, which is apparently slang for "someone who hasn't had a relationship with a girl or boy since birth." Basically a stronger form of a single dog if you read cn novels i guess. Alex doesn't see why that's bad because he's basically like "I'm already good enough on my own even if I don't date" HAHAHA CONFIDENCE. Emeses realizes he has it all and doesn't need to worry about petty mortal concerns when he's got money, appearance, prestige, etc.
