So my last laptop got smashed (don’t ask. It was something stupid). And I’m not sure what I want. The new chrome books look good. I especially like the virus protection. The main thing I need the laptop for is for streaming stuff. I travel a lot. It can be pretty boring in small towns or just motels off the side of the road. A lot of the time a lot of towns roll up it’s street at sunset. Even the bars close early. I usually need 5 hours of sleep. Not 12+ hours. There’s nothing to do.
Things that would be nice to have...
Able to watch shows, movies or listen to music well
    Under $1,000.00
    Big screen
    Good sound
Besides these anything extra would be great.
    So any suggestions is appreciated.

How is asus rog below $1000?
And just because he asked for big screen why rog is the first one that you suggest? Lol. If its only streaming and light stuff rog specs r so goddamn wasted and you are basically overcompensating just because you want a big screen.

Well, he asked, I gave an option which I'm familiar with. He can decide for himself. Search for Asus TUF gaming laptop on Amazon... Or go for last year model.

If you just want to stream movies I suguest Lenovo thinkpads (an older version should work just as well). Just if you want a lightweight laptop you should move to lenvono ideapads. Not as good sound wise but the weight is much lighter. Asus zenbooks are good too

If you want to stream live videos / high end graphics - Acer Heilos.

For a general purpose chromebook is just fine.

Never go for ideapad. Worst quality of all I’ve owned.

I only use laptops/notebooks at work but if it was me and i had 1000US $ to use i would go with IBM, Thinkpad or an Apple.
For my use i would still instal linux so the os from Apple does not matter, i also do not play new games so as far as it would be for me i would go with a used one aka refurbished so i need to buy a new battery but the costs could be way less than 1k US$.
The three brands have a very good performence and live longer than some other brends.

The other point is if you do take it outdoor so you should know how the screen on it works vs sun or reflection.

I would say if your need only involving browsing stuffs and web app related, chromebook is the best choice. It's easy for Windows laptops to get bloated and slowing down after using it in the long run. Nowadays chromebook can install linux apps anyway, so unless there's a need to use it for gaming or do heavy tasks, chromebook is a prime choice, especially with the recent and upcoming chromebooks are pretty good.

    Acer Aspire ES1-732-C4XD is 17,3" for €360,-
But you can best compare laptops yourself on websites specialised in comparing laptops.

I recommend you "Acer Aspire 3 A315-41" it uses AMD ryzen 3 2200U with 4gb ram and 1TB storage, 15,6 inch LCD with window 10pro.

It's served me Good for the last 4 months and can play some game like endless space at high.

What does 'big screen' mean to you? 17", 15", 13"? I'd look for a laptop that has a 1920x1080 display with a good LED backlight in whatever screen size you want.

Good audio can be found on laptops, but it's rare at the pricepoint you're targeting. It might be a good idea to invest in a BlueTooth speaker, headphones, or earbuds rather than hunt for a laptop with good audio.

What else are you looking for in a laptop? If all you want is a laptop that lets you watch streams at 1080p, you can buy a $300 laptop that will do that for you no problem. If you want to spend $1000, what other features matter to you? What else would you like to be able to do?

You have some very good points. The answer is. The best bang for my buck. I kept it vague for a reason. I don’t know what I want, except what I previously stated.
    Thanks for the reply.

I want to thank everyone for their reply’s. I wanted a real world/ person interaction with their laptops. Of course I can compare other computers, but my choices may have a flaw I didn’t see.

Thanks again guyz. Really appreciate the help.

My wife bought lenovo 13 inch about 2 years now. Its still working as first bought and the battery is still good for an old laptop. No slowdowns fans problems or anything annoying at all. The other brands would have plenty of troubles by this time around according to my experiences. I did research on this laptop, lenovo knew what they were doing. They would not overheat the cpu, they would give plenty of cooling by control.ing the heatsink and airflow.

That being said, the model was replaced this year by the new lenovo flex 14. The new laptop can run around the old laptop in terms of graphics, since the new model had ryzen 3500u, which gives the vega 8 graphic (U can upgrade it to 3700u with vega 11). u can technically play 720p fortnite with that thing. Problem with shared memory for intergrated graphics? Lenovo put 12gb of ram in here. Frankly speaking I would rarely use anything more than 10gb on my desktop, let alone laptop. Not enough? the monitor is touch screen and you can use it as a tablet. Did I mention the fast charging? 90% battery in one hour.

This is the best value laptop for 2019 at this budget hands down ($524 on amazon as of writing this) . If you are really using this laptop for streaming only, this laptop will satisfy you and more.

Just dont smash it like your last laptop. If this shit happens to you often, you need $2000 toughbook....
