Octavia gets what Hugh-pain-in-the-ass means, especially since she's royalty but she also didn't want to show distrust (or throw cold water, in her terms) at Huey and the store’s kindness. So she looked at Huey and Huey said that he'll taste the coffee first for any poison. Of course, he's fine, so then Octavia says she'll have some coffee next, but Douche kinda interrupts. She believed that he'll say no (so did I, actually) but he said that he'll drink some too. Nothing happened, so Rust voice that he'll have some coffee too since its safety is absolutely ensured.

Octavia notices that Sisi, Huey, Rust and Douchebag all are having black coffee while Octavia has it with milk and sugar and wonders if she's the only one with a childish tongue (nah, gurl. I like really sweet and milky coffee too. You have no idea the amount of shock I receive when I used to ask the barista to add about five sachets of sugar (and even that's not enough). Hell, I once even backtracked from my usual amount but the barista put in the same amount (did they know my worries? :blobsleepless:...) So I just make it at home, since it's useless to buy from outside. Actually recently, a friend made me a Vietnamese egg coffee. It was pretty good, but I just ate the brulee part cuz it was so good :blobcheeky: . I also have a liking for french vanilla coffee. Tastes like butterscotch, dunno why. So to anyone who doesn't like their coffee black, you're not alone:blobhighfive:).

Then Huey addresses all the escort knights and soldiers to have some coffee as well. But Hugh-pain-in-the-ass, being the party pooper that he is (reiteration), is like I'm on duty (I mean I get it, but... I don't wanna get it). So Rust butts in and says that Octavia's knight today is pretty stubborn or maybe he still suspects for poison (yesssss, Rusty! I like u rn. Subtle provocation to the huge pain in the ass). But then Octavia wants to defend him. (Gurl no. Don't defend him. Don't defend him in front of me). She says that's too much, and he can't have such suspicions since two royal members (her and Douche) drank it and are fine. Then Rust continues, yes, Octavia's right. There's nothing wrong with courtesy or did he need her permission first (lol. He just keeps provoking. Lowkey reminds me of Satoru Gojo. Lowkey, that is). With that, she then tells Hugh-pain-in-the-ass to drink the coffee. So he does, and Douche doesn't say anything so he agrees too.

Cups were distributed to all the escort knights and soldiers and coffee was poured in.

And then Octavia wondered about Clifford, because she remembered that she once invited him to tea and asked him to sit down but he refused. (So about that scene. It's only in the novel, since the novel and the manga don't completely align where some scenes are missing or are different. In that scene, Octavia wanted to talk to him about staying as her knight a little longer before she can find a fake lover. This was actually the scene where Clifford becomes Octavia's Jyuu with the addition of a tea invitation because she wanted to start off smooth I guess you could say. She asked him to sit and he came to the seat but he didn't sit down. I guess you could say it was a covert refusal since he didn't say no outright, and makes me think if she told him again, maybe he'd sit back then). Octavia thinks that Clifford might not drink it bare (idk what that means but it was in the translation) but that'll be problematic since it'll make Douchebag distrust Clifford even more. So she made eyes contact with Clifford :aww: , hoping to convey the message to drink it. Clifford looks at the cup and takes a sip (I wanna see this in the manga!!!!! :blobcat_hyper:). He drank it normally, but Octavia noticed that Clifford had a strange reaction since he narrowed his eyes. But then he also drank it silently afterward (He was forcing himself :blobsneeze:). Everyone else drank it normally with no complaints. Actually, some Japanese fans thought that maybe something was actually wrong with the coffee and Clifford notices, but I'm one of those who think he just doesn't like black coffee either :aww: . Octavia herself thought that maybe it was because Clifford doesn't usually drink much coffee. He also has the same taste buds as Octavia ~~~ :aww: I want them to have coffee together! :bloblove:

Octavia also notices that Guy's reaction, imagining him to be saying "Delicious! I want another cup". I swear it's like he's been forced to become their friend, which they've yet to acknowledge :blobxd: .

Rust, once again, basically provokes Hugh-pain-in-the-ass :blobxd: . He basicallydoes a Simplynailogical "What'dya think" about my friend's coffee, and Hugh-pain-in-the-ass said it was great while giving a sharp look to Rust as if he was offended :blobrofl::blobrofl::blobrofl: . I love this!!! :blobok: Rust is now favored in my eyes.... as long as he's platonic... :blobspearpeek: .

Eventually, the meal came to an end.

Octavia couldn't understand Rust's purpose at all.

They saw generic Derek leave just before they left (he was in the restaurant).

As they made their way to the carriage, Hugh-pain-in-the-ass called Octavia and Douchebag out, that they need to replace personnel to strengthen security. Douche apparently reviewed it earlier and doesn't want to over-tighten security. Hugh-pain-in-the-ass was worried since there weren't any major movements yet. So they gave Hugh-pain-in-the-ass permission to take the lead in strengthening the security system.

Meanwhile, Octavia came up with an idea to shake things up and wondered if she should change the order of her schedule. Only "Housing" was left (I'm glad that it didn't drag on) and it was almost time to take a walk along the row of Carlam trees and she'll instead go to revisit a shop she visited before. Hugh-pain-in-the-ass was reluctant. So, the burden of security was heavy and that may be the only chance that the crook will like (I guess Octavia store visit). Douch wanted to say something but kept his mouth shut because he realized that it was the only way to shake them up. So Hugh-pain-in-the-ass had to strengthen the security system, to the changed schedule.

After a while, while Douche was doing his thing and Octavia was waiting inside the carriage, he apparently moved his escort knights. Ironically, to strengthen security, his knights decreased, but only Clifford remained. Octavia didn't worry because, to her, one Clifford could definitely cover the strength of multiple people :bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove:. Also, Douchebag better not try to recruit him. I'm sus of you, deranged, paranoid douchebag. I am sus of u as you r to ur own sister. :blob_thor:

So long-distance knights were placed, probably with bows. And now the carriage was even more safeguarded.

The shop they'll visit next is the one where Octavia first got her infamous black fan.

... So this next part was just annoying so I'll get through it as fast as possible. :blobunamused:

Douchebag, while looking at her black fan says that he can't understand it since his loverboy found the fan to be cool. While Octavia was happy, Douchebag asks why does window Sill trust Octavia (fuck u:blobunamused:). He said that he thought she hated him, but she tells him she doesn't. She just didn't like her destiny to be a babymaker without experiencing love, and it might come true if she went on like this. But of course, she doesn't him that. I guess, it's fair because he's not ready to hear or understand her. I don't think Douchebag will care about her since he looks through a rose-colored lens in which he's right, he's a king and Sill is all that matters. And Octavia is the stepping stone for all that to happen. God, the more I think about it, the more it pisses me off. Clifford, just take her away from there, dammit  . Also, Douchebag frustratingly says that Sill seems to like her, and she hopes he doesn't mean in a romantic way (if he's jealous of sister, then fuck him for thinking that :blobhero: . He doesn't trust Octavia and he doesn't trust his own lover :blobangery: . Why was he ML in the original novel again?). Also, she bought clothes of window Sill to resize.... because she's a basically stan.... Octavia, dammit :facepalm: . Loverboy isn't even doing anything for you! He's like... bland! He's just there! And only for his Douchebag boyfriend.

And why didn't you buy clothes for Clifford? :blob_teary: He's endgame! He's always been there! He matters! Justice for Clifford!!!!::bloblove::

Also here's my predictions for the upcoming chapters. Since Octavia will be going to a store (or maybe walk along the Carlam trees if she decides to) then the attack might actually happen then. Idk if Douchebag will be there with her or not, but Clifford would be since he's (highly likely (please)) in the synopsis for the fifth light novel volume. I wonder if he'll be able to guard her instead for extra security because Douchebag can fight so he'd be fine. Or if Clifford will abandon Douchebag to protect Octavia, which he already stated that he will. :aww:

OKAYYYYYY!!!! So this is relatively old, but I didn't know it was related (I mean I did... but I thought I did... like I imagined it was related. In hindsight, I should've just looked at the translation). And it's so cute! It's a cute and funny chibi Cliffy.

    The manga artist's tweet is:
This is the spokesperson for my heart's voice that I unintentionally drew at the end of my name The messenger of hell

Likewise, the image itself (of Clifford) means:
As expected of the Lord I chose (さすが 私が選んだ主)

    :aww::aww::aww::aww::aww::aww::aww::aww:

And look! There are stars around him! :aww: It's a first for Cliffy! I've never him in such visuals (well, except for maybe flowers around when he smiled at Octavia at the quasi-ball. I wonder if I'll see him blush one day or even have small hearts radiating out of him :blobsmilehappyeyes:).

He looks so proud of his master~~~~ :bloblove:

There's another conspiracy theory! Actually, it was pointed out by a Japanese fan.

    They tweeted:
That bastard... I was taken aback when I noticed the similarity between the pattern drawn on the teacup that that young man had and the crest of the royal family of Esfia (probably).

The bastard refers to the jerk god who demoralized and sent Octavia/Maki to the BL world with little choice. And I had a look at their point, and wow, they were right!

All images can be found here.

This is the teacup the jerk god had during his convo with Octavia/Maki. The crest is only similar when inverted.

And this is the Esfian royal family crest.

The similarity can't be a coincidence. There's a slight difference is that the jerk god's tea cup has wings. This makes me wonder if he's related or is, in fact, the sky god himself. Or it could be a decoration thing (I'll get to that in a minute). As for the sky god stance, well, the crest is also on his staff in the image of him
    [IMG]

Of course, the Esfian royal family worships the sky god, so it makes sense that they'd have essentially the same crest.

It also makes me think that maybe Maki/Octavia's death was actually planned!

In terms of "additional decorations" to the crest, there's a small sword-like image at the bottom of the crest (as tweeted by the fan, first). It could also be a variation per royal family generation (hey, that rhymed)
The sky room in the castle
    [IMG]

The sky room where the battle took place (the sign is also present in the imitated sky room which had the secret tunnel that led to the sky room where the battle took place and where Sill was). The crest, though small, is also visible on top of the throne.

I also noticed the crest on the top of the door that led to the sky room where the battle took place. It has more intricate designs, like feathers. This may, however, just be a design thing.

But now I'm suspecting that the jerk god may have planned for her death, or his influence, as possibly the sky god, is pervasive, since the influence of the sky god himself is everywhere, such as thanking him before a meal.

Today, sometime after waking up, I realized something should be updated on Watago. But November is gone and vol 5 of the manga is now officially going to be released. So there would be no new updates on the manga.

BUT THEN I checked the manga artist's twitter page out of habit and lo and behold :blobpensivepray: ! They posted a pic of all previous illustrations INCLUDING THE 4P THAT I DESPERATELY NEEDEDDDD!!!!!!! :blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom:

    Here's a close-up of the 4P WITHOUT A WATERMARKKKKK!!!!!!!!

It's so beautiful that I cried!!! :meowpuffytears: The treasured 4p! :blobpensivepray:

In celebration of this miracle, I drank some vitamin C (freshly squeezed orange juice) to replenish the lack of Vitamin C (Clifford).

Because the words were finally clear, I did what you basically do in Okami. Yes, I drew those characters to figure them out! :blobconcerned: And I'm getting hella good at it! :meowsadlife: Coincidentally, I went back to watching Okami out of nostalgia :blobdog: , and yes, the game is still hella pretty.:meowsadlife:

So, first, let's take a minute to praise me for deciphering it. :meowsipglare:

    Done.

Of course, I wasn't able to about two characters of the main text, as well as some side text :blob_teary: . The manga ink was too thick to be understood. I did everything I could. I tried searching for a character chart. I looked at all possible characters. I gathered a conference. I prayed to God. I tried to summon a demon. I asked the Illuminati. I called my mom. But I couldn't decipher those characters :blobcry: .

Not that I actually need it, tho. The majority of the characters I have deciphered pretty much tell me what 4p's about :cookie: . (Would've been nice to decipher the side text tho......................................).

    HERE WE GO!!!!!!!!!!!

So in the first panel, Octavia's thinking that "Clifford is always expressionless".
In the second panel, on the right, she wants to see his "more colorful expressions". Suddenly, she goes, "That’s right!" as she had an idea. On the left, she says that she "can take advantage of [her] previous life..." (when she was Maki). Just as she thinks that, Clifford opens the door and enters the room while saying "Pardon my impoliteness".
And in the third panel, she's basically acting like the Sadako from the Japanese movie, Ring, by covering her face with her hair :blobrofl:. A classical horror move. Basically, she wanted to scare him :blobrofl:.
But in the fourth panel, Clifford's just confused with a question mark on his head :blobrofl: . I found it to be such a cute reaction, really :blobsmilehappyeyes:. I mean, the man's Ongarne's messenger. What's he got to be scared of? He's the scariest thing in the BL world! Not in my book, of course, heh heh :blobmelt: . Octavia realizes that Japanese horror wasn't it, but this (confused) reaction of Clifford was still fine so she was happy. Because it's technically a colorful expression from his usual expressionless face :blobrofl: . Lol, Octavia being optimistic, and Cliffy's just like what. :blob_patpat:

I love this 4p :aww: ! Since this was around the time of the first manga volume, that would mean that Octavia was already acting a little silly around Clifford :bloblove: ! Them just acting like this is so cute! I want to see more interactions like this!!! :blobsob:

Also, here are the Japanese characters I managed to collect in the 4P. The blanks mean I don't know what it means. This is mostly for myself :blobpopcorn_cool: .
    1st panel
Octavia (in her thoughts): いつも無表情 クリフォードって (Clifford is always expressionless)

    2nd panel (right side)
Octavia (in her thoughts): もっと色ケな表情を見てみたいなー (I want to see more colorful expressions) そうだ! (That’s right!)
    2nd panel (left side)
Octavia (in her thoughts): 私の前[世] を生かして… (I can take advantage of my previous life...)
Clifford (after he opens the door): 失礼します (Pardon my impoliteness)

    3rd panel
Octavia (in her thoughts): ジヤバニースホラーが_____じていない!! (Japanese Horror wasn’t _____!!) でも困 _____表情グツトー♪ (But this _____♪)

So many chapters updated, so little Clifford. No Cliffy no life. Of course.... I'll be detailed about Clifford heh heh. :bloblenny:

    Starting from 86
    - Generic Derek's pov boo. Generic Derek is talking to Stain about him grabbing the winning rose at the flower ceremony. The convo turns about Rust who was having a meal with Octavia and co. Apparently, Rust looked like "Rufus, Duke of Kilgren, Duke of Nightfellow two generations ago" :blobangry2:. And I think Derek and Rust did spike the coffee? I didn't refine the translation since I'm a bit busy these days. Rust is being the usual Rust, kinda provoking Derek (he pissed off Octavia, Hugh-pain-in-the-ass, and Generic Derek :blobpopcorn_cool: ). Lust informs that Octavia will walk by the Carlam trees, and Generic Derek says that he'll join the inspection as (Generic) Derek Nightfellow (plz stay away... was my initial wish... sigh)
    - Generic boy is wearing some fancy clothes to enter as Derek Nightfellow. He's thinking about the Carlam trees, related to when young Octavia was crying in front of it when she was very young. He kinda acknowledges it as half-hearted kindness (yes it is! you aint the protag!). So he sees Octavia, walks to her and stops when he sees...... ughhh... i hate this part. This piece of shit (I'd call him an S.O.B but I respect his parents) actually called my baby Clifford a "monster"! :blob_thor: You aint shit compared to Clifford! Anyways, Clifford saw him from a distance that no ordinary person could have. Clifford, "like at the quasi-ball,[...] doesn't seem to want to point his sword at him. Even so, [...] he isn't liked at all." (That makes two of us Clifford :blobhero: ). Of course, Derek knows that Clifford will attack if he shows a moment of suspicious behavior. Also, apparently piece of shit, I mean Generic "Derek has previously described Alderton as a disappointing ability for an escort knight when questioned by Sill". (He's not your knight, so who are you to judge!!!:blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor:. You aint shit, but you are shit! Why is he liked by the Japanese fandom!!?!?!?!?). Also, he felts that Clifford "being too strong was more of a problem". (Ah, so you're jealous that our Clifford is both strong and wonderful :aww: and not a child bully because he was jelly like you :blobexpressionless: ) Clifford is a man who doesn't let his guard down and Generic boy was glad that he wasn't the enemy (but you are mine :blob_thor: )

    Starting from 87
    - Back to Octavia, she enters the store where she went to get her infamous black fan from. There were many black fans that were being sold after Octavia used it, so it's getting popular and business has been good for the merchant. I also love that it could potentially recede the bad luck associated with Lev birds (true story: in some cultures, crows are seen as a bad omen).
    - She meets a customer with two companions. He's a merchant from Kangina. It's this guy who was talking to Sill about Octavia's dance and whether Generic Derek will face despair at the semi-ball. He confirms this when he says that he talked to Sill at the semi ball.
    - He was going to buy a black fan too, and he and the shop owner of Octavia's black seem to have a long relationship which I can only conclude is professional, since they're both merchants. And, after the former from Kangina leaves, the latter merchant tells her not to remember his name because he comes first (everyone want Octavia's attention :blobowoevil_horns: ). She asks if the item she requested was ready.
    - What she requested after she left was the "long-awaited sword decoration made from rev bird feathers"! In other words, the sword tassel that Octavia promised to give Clifford in the very first manga volume! :bloblove::bloblove::bloblove:

    - They go back to the carriage to go to the Carlam trees and Douche asks if she's nervous. He meant if she gets attacked since that's what they're hoping in order to catch the crooks since Octavia's bait, but Octavia also has a bad association with Carlam trees because they remind her of the Japanese sakura trees. She then i think asked him if his suspicions of Clifford was clear nad he said no ( :blob_thor: ).
    - They arrived at the destination and she gets an explanation of the plan. Hugh-pain-in-the-ass will her closest guard and Clifford will be Douche's closest guard (there is so much wrong there :blobpopcorn_two: ) and the other knights will follow behind them and some are by the Carlam trees.
    - Douche kept Clifford close by not because he trusts Clifford enough to entrust his personal safety to him, but the opposite. (Then give him back, you asshole :blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor: )
    - Octavia remembers a memory of her and her older sister.
    - Hugh-pain-in-the-ass notices her standing there in a daze and confused (why is it you :blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor::blob_thor: )
    - Just as she starts her walk, Generic Derek comes in through the security easily, lying that he came to say hello when he learned they were on an inspection. She knew that he was lying but thinks of him as an ally (because he helped her out at the semi-ball)
    - She then asks him to walk with her and he was surprised for a bit but said with pleasure (Don't make me start that petition :blob_thor: )

    Starting from 88
    - I hate this chapter except for the end. (tune until the end of the chapter summary to know why :bloblenny: (oh, you know why!))
    - During the walk, Octavia asks to visit Daddy Duke's house after the inspection. He answers that he's at the villa and that Daddy Duke will make time for her even if he's busy (I repeat. He's Octavia's real dad. I want that to be canon!).
    - She then asks if he knew Duke Kilgren. He's generic Derek's granduncle (大叔父) and "also the younger brother of the previous king. When he was younger, he was supposed to look like Rust". Deeper and deeper the rabbit hole goes :meowpuffydizzy: . I just came here for Clifford :meowsadlife: .
    - Also by that fact, wouldn't that make her and Derek kinda related? Like cousins? I think KIlgren was a Duke Nightfellow and then changed to a Duke KIlgren? idk. Of course, Derek sees him as a grand uncle but it doesn't necessarily mean that he is one.
    - Octavia wanted to see his picture because he looked like Rust when he was young, and Rust looks like jerk god.
    - Then the Carlam flowers flutter. She's basically feeling homesick again with the memories of Japan. She gets close to one. Generic calls her name and she replies that it's beautiful and she wanted to see it up close. The memories just keep coming. I skipped because I literally couldn't take the heartbreak of leaving your family just to end up in a world where it's against you :blobconfounded: There's a line where she knows she's Octavia and can't go back, but even if she lives for a long time and becomes a grandmother, this feeling won't change. :blob_teary: Dammit, I want the ending for her to go back with Clifford! :meowsadlife:
    - But this part is interesting! :aww::aww::aww::aww: Octavia really hoped that she could go home, and had those expectations. She apparently was recalling that dream she had of the cherry blossoms. And just as she did she "saw something other than cherry blossoms" and the moment she "heard the sound", she crumbled. There was "something that was impossible in Japan", a person's clothing that "no one wears in the life spent as Maki" and "a voice that is completely different from Japanese". :aww:
:aww::aww::aww::aww::aww::aww::aww: She was disappointed that she was still in this world, but she couldn't stop trying even if it resulted in failure :blob_teary: . And she felt a strange thing as if she's cried a lot and felt refreshed. A "vague picture pops up in [her] head". It was little Octavia and someone who was on one knee and looked at little Octavia in the eye! :aww: Do you get it!? :aww::aww: It's Clifford when he entered into Octavia/Maki's dream and told her that it's okay to cry :bloblove::bloblove::bloblove: . Octavia, please remember! Clifford is the best emotional and physical support! :blob_plusone:
    - She's confused because she's "never met anyone in front of the Carlam tree". Since she's talking about Carlams, that means she's never met anyone in front of the tree in Esfia since she avoids Carlams because of the sad memories in her and see she's little Octavia, not little Maki.
    - And then this ass Generic Derek interrupts by calling her name loudly :blob_thor: Goddamn you. Why are all of you in Clifford's way!? She was fine because she felt refreshed from Clifford's encouragement and comfort! The bad memories were going away! :blob_thor:
    - He asks if she's okay. She says yeah and it was true. If it was the past, the answer would've been a complete lie (See/ I told you so! :blob_thor: ). Generic Derek makes a fist and smiles slightly and says that's good. (What? Are you sad because you missed your chance to comfort her? :blobunamused: Don't make me start that petition). Octavia was bothered about his forced smile and was about to call out his name.
    - But then a metallic sound was heard as arrows were flying like "Nope. Not happening" :blobowo:
    - And then the man Clifford makes an appearance! Well, his back does which was in front of Octavia to protect her as he deflect the arrows with his sword.
    - Oh yeah, Generic Derek draws his sword too.
    - There was an attack.
    - The crooks had swords and some archers too from somewhere.
    - ANNND some of them as escort knight uniforms AND A GOLD SWORD TASSEL!!! In other words, they're Douche's men!!!!!! HAH!!!!! I was like "LOL BITCH!!!! PERFECT SECURITY MY ASS!! AHAHAHA:blobrofl::blobrofl:" ... In my humble defense, this was a good slap to Douche's arrogance... and his wrongful accusation towards Clifford.... :blobokhand: Not that he'll ever acknowledge it :blobunamused: . Let it be noted that Clifford was right, when he took down that one blonde knight, implying that the crooks might be on the inside. :blobsalute:
    - She orders Clifford to take the enemy alive, which he accepts. And she follows up with another order that she can't get hurt. Clifford says "... Yes" with a faint smile :bloblove: (you like it when she's worried about you~~~).
    - Octavia knows that she can only protect herself without panicking or being afraid. And then she remembers Douche  . Gurl, he can fight. It's every person for himself :blobwob: .
    - Meanwhile, Guy and Eleil were guidance the escaping citizens. They're trying to get to Octavia too. Guy is under Alec, and she doesn't expect much from Eleil I think because he's just Rust's younger brother.
    - Because of the betrayal, Douche was kinda outnumbered by himself.
    - Octavia was worried. Octavia called out to Clifford, "Clifford, brother...!" but Clifford very calmly said that there's no need to worry about the first prince, aka Douche.
    - She then gives him an order. She thinks that she can't hesitate at times like this in using "the "master's order"!
    - I know he's hesitant but accepts it if it's her order (he can't say no to waifu~~~). He kicked away an enemy away and took the weapon at the same time (lol. Gta style :blobpopcorn_cool: ). "He throws the sword into the arm of the crook who was attacking [her] older brother from behind", which could give him a fatal wound if he tried I guess.
    - Douche looks at them for a moment
    - And then with Clifford's plot armor, I mean, strength, he quickly defeated the opponents. (Bless that plot armor for proteccing Cliffy which in turn proteccs Octavia. Now if only a happy ending would come forth soon for these two :meowpuffytears:)
    - The battle lasted for several minutes and the attackers were subdued, which included Douche's escort knights (I know I've said this before, but allow me to reiterate..........HAH! PERFECT SECURITY MY ASS!)

    Starting from 89
    - Among the captured attackers included three of Douche's escort knights (... do I dare reiterate? :blobcat_hyper: This is golden).
    - They're asked who the mastermind is because they couldn't have done it but they don't say a thing.
    - A messenger bird has already arrived on Hugh-pain-in-ass's arm and there's an urgent letter.
    - AND GET THIS! Nathan Holden, aka one of Douche's goon, aka Nothin-and-absolutely-got-nothing-got-anything-on-my-Clifford-and-tried-to-hurt-and-insulted-him-yet-still-loss-the-fight-against-him-with, had kidnapped Sill! I want to say it! I really want to say it! Douche, who was suspecting Clifford of trying to hurt Sill, actually had his own people betray him and his own people kidnapped his lover! This isn't just a slap in the face! This is a whole kick in the ass! :blob_pompom: But, of course, douchebag will never acknowledge it :blobunamused:
    - It was unexpected for Octavia too. I think the Japanese fandom were also surprised because they found Hugh-pain-in-ass more sus. No one considered Nathan Holden. I just hated him. So I'm glad. Time for a counterattack on disrespecting my bby Cliffy :blobhero:
    - Hugh-pain-in-ass asks Douche to let him go there, as it might be a mistake or a trap, and that they shouldn't cancel the inspection.
    - Then generic Derek butts in and says that it would be more natural for him to go to the castle than Hugh-pain-in-the-ass, who's accompanying them on an inspection, to return and Nathan Holden wouldn't be too cautious about it. Then he looks at Octavia and asks if she agrees. She agrees.
    - While Hugh-pain-in-ass waits for Douche's decision, a soldier comes up to him after inspecting the belongings of the captured attackers. He gave them a crumpled piece of paper that was stretched out and then Hugh-pain-in-ass gave it to the rest to see. The contents read to make a raid during the inspection and then Nathan will kidnap Sill. "And after that—Derek was supposed to join us."
    - Regarding my own thoughts, and not to defend generic Derek cuz I don't care about him, but I find it a bit sus. I can't confirm anything, so take it with a grain of salt. It says "supposed to" so were they trying to recruit him :hmm: ? And then there's the names for each of them. Nathan and Derek are just Nathan and Derek, but Sill is Sill-sama. Would they use their last names and not call Sill with "-sama" but maybe just Burkes or something else? :hmm: Sound a bit respectful to Sill, but not Derek, a future Duke... :hmm:
    - Anyways, Hugh is hella sus and coldly asks if it was his plan to go to the royal castle instead of him. Generic Derek says no and he didn't expect anyone to be suspicious of a piece of paper that anyone could write on. Hugh probes that he's ignoring that it was from the assailant's belongings. Derek then retorts that what if the soldiers are part of the raiders and says that if they call out at the right time as if they've discovered it, was this also according to plan. (Ngl, lowkey enjoying this verbal dogfight :meowsip:). Douche then stops it.
    - He orders Hugh-pain-in-the-ass to go back to the castle and he'll leave 'him instructions and to send the messenger bird as soon as he can confirm the situation there. Hugh-pain-in-the-ass accepts it and then asks what about generic Derek.
    - Douche says that he'll detain him until the suspicion is cleared and then soldiers surrounded him. He didn't resist but had a sad and self-mocking smile for a moment.
    - Octavia went against the decision by saying she'll put him under her. Douche raised a brow, and she continued that she'll watch him and wants him to accompany her during the rest of the inspection since the suspicious person be nearby,
    - She further says that she wants Clifford back instead of Hugh-pain-in-the-ass :blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom: since she has no knight to guard her. Smooth :blobamused: . In her own words, "... you have to seize the opportunity at any time." Especially since douchebag wasn't giving her any leeway.
    - He asks if she's serious and she almost flinched (fuck u douche :blob_thor: ). She doesn't give up and says that it's her own way of shaking things up. She'll be Princess Double Luck who has a suspicious Derek by her side! .... you do you, gurl....
    - Eventually, Douche consents that Hugh-pain-in-the-ass will go to the royal castle and in the meantime, Clifford Alderton will be her escort knight. (Ladies and gentlemen... we got him!!!!!!!! :blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom::blob_pompom: )
    - She felt like she was stuck in a dead end regarding the incident if Nathan was possibly the mastermind (Him? :blobconfused: The mastermind? :blobconfused: Sorry, but no way! From what I can tell, he's was too hot-headed and impulsive. He'd be a goon but not the brains behind a plan like that. Hugh-pain-in-the-ass would make more sense because he's calm and collected so he'd be more likely the mastermind if he was one. But Nathan Holden is more likely just another pawn in the plan).
    - But hey, we finally got Cliffy back. I'm so happy! :blobsneeze:

    Starting from 90
    - We're at chapter 90... and convos with Clifford are still absent :blobsleepless: . I'm starting to lose my determination. :bloborz: God bless the manga images.
    - The relationship between her and douche became even tenser, but meh, who cares.
    - Octavia came to the store that her friend Sisi mentioned. Douche had something come up, so it was just her, Clifford, Guy, Eleil and, sigh, generic Derek heading into the bookstore. (Anyway we can get rid of generic Derektoo :blobunamused: I know I'd like Octavia and Clifford alone but, I also like Guy's reaction around them :blobxd: and Eleil is like a wallflower to me I don't care whether he's there.)
    - Octavia looked at a pale Guy (See why I don't mind that he's around? :blobxd: It might sound like I'm bullying him but he's reactions are funny, because he's the only guy who's scared of Clifford). Eleil is normal. Clifford, who had returned to her escort knight :blob_pompom: was also normal.
    - She calls out Guy and he kinda shakily asks if he can help her (because he's scared of Clifford) and she tells him to do his best because it's going to take a bit longer. She smiles after Guy loudly salutes (it's not written but I can only guess the faces of Clifford and Eleil. Would love a perspective of Guy from Clifford. I need these two in a pub :blobsmilehappyeyes:).
    - They entered the two-storey store with a rustic aesthetic and a lot of well-priced books.
    - Then generic Derek thanks Octavia for protecting him (back up buddy :blob_thor: ). SHe asks if he's mad about Douche and he says no.
    - He was kinda sad and there's this line "It's as if you know who the mastermind is, and that makes you sad...?" :hmm: This is from Octavia's perspective, but assuming that's one of her theories, then he is involved? :hmm: So many mysteries :notlikeblob: Just give me Clifford dammit! :blob_teary:
    - He light-hearted tells her that he wants her to help him if he asks her for help and she replies of course with seriousness ( :blob_thor: ). (Every convo with him gives me anxiety!!! :notlikeblob: First douche, Hugh-pain-in-the-ass and now this generic Derek :blobcurse: ! I hate this volume!)
    - Then he changed the subject and said that the store doesn’t show any connection with the royal family. Octavia was shocked and wondered if that was why douche's reaction was strange (I didn't notice tbh).
    - The male queen, Edgar, is a former merchant and marrying the king gave him a big boost. He doesn't openly work as a merchant, but has a deep connection with his business 'Paradise in the Sky' (really? :blobunamused: ) and has multiple stores in the royal capital. Business has been good for him because he appealed and advertised the relationship with the royal family.
    - But the store didn't have the slightest atmosphere of making use of the connection with the royal family in business like the main store.
    - Octavia was saying something but then saw Lishran flowers in a corner of the store. It was on the wall beside the stairs, there is a small desk, and a single Lishran was arranged in a vase. She went closer to the picture hanging above it and saw a picture of a family. Heterosexual parents and boy and girl. The kids were in their teens and looked very similar.
    - Just as Octavia focused on the boy, generic Derek muttered, that it was Edgar. Edgar-sama in the picture had a mischievous atmosphere, which was a far cry from the calm Edgar she knew. But Derek pondered over about the other sibling, since it's public knowledge that Octavia knows that Edgar was an only child.
    - Then a voice welcomes them, as if telling them not to touch the picture, and says that royalty and high-ranking aristocrats don't fit in a store like this on South Street (there are specific streets that commoners and nobles frequent. Classism at its best.)
    - The man, in his fifties or sixties, looked similar to Edgar and was even the man in the painting on the wall, so Octavia deduced that he's Edgar's dad whom she's never met. Octavia was hesitant to ask the man that question tho.
    - She and the royal family itself never had contact with Edgar's parents. "The origins of the Esfia royal family itself are unique, and the parent-child relationship between father and Edgar-sama is far from normal. That's why I was convinced that it was something like this..." :hmm: So they aren't meeting each other as grandfather and grandchild, but as the first princess and a person concerned with the inspection destination.
    - She then asks if he's the owner of the shop, and he just says that the shopkeeper can only come once in a while and he's just in charge of the shop.
    - Octavia felt rejection. So she asks about the girl in the painting. The man asks why with both the bare politeness and rudeness wrapped around disappearing. It turned into hostility. Of course, Clifford :)meowpuffymelt:) tried to move, but Octavia shook her head.
    - He says Edgar made a promise that he (I think) will never have anything to do with this place again and no one from the royal family will ever set foot in this place again. He then asks if that only applied to the King. The man was trying to desperately suppress anger. Yeah, I can tell from just this dialogue.
    - She wondered what the king made Edgar promise (is this possibly related to Alec's mother since Edgar's name vaguely came up once during their convo? :blobangry2: :hmm: ). Octavia, of course, has never been told about this by the king. Octavia only coincidentally came here because she asked Sisi about it. She wondered if the king, her adopted dad, would've stopped her if he knew where was going since the shop wasn't included in the inspection schedule.
    - Octavia opened her mouth but didn't know what to say. The man smirked and that he'll tell her if she wants to know. He looks at the painting and says that the girl's name is Irene, with full of affection. He then said that they can feel free to imprison him for blasphemy. Octavia replies that she won't do such a thing. It's because he was Edgar's dad (but I want to hear the anti-royal stuff in general :blobsleepless: ). He tells her not to touch the picture.
    - He went towards the entrance, seemingly wanting to get as far away from them as possible. Octavia saw a new customer standing at the entrance and came in instead of going home. So the man actually left :blobsleepless: ? I thought he was closing up shop. The hair color was different but it was Stain.
    - Stain told something to generic Derek. He asked Octavia if she would cooperate with him to avoid the worst in secret. I think she asks if the contents are serious and he says very. (So, he is involved as maybe a spy to defeat the crooks? :hmm: Then wait... is Nathan innocent too? :notlikeblob: Please no. Agh, my head hurts around all these mysteries!)

Lastest predictions. So, I think Octavia will agree and she might possibly get hurt or be close to getting hurt which will make Clifford swoop and save her, which will trigger his "I'm terribly angry" 2.0 (I loved that scene, btw :blobnosebleed: ). And then it'll reflect the synopsis for volume 5 of the light novel.

Volume 5 cover of the LN is out! Makes me think that the volume is also completed like when they released the Volume 4 cover of the LN just when the volume itself was almost done. Unless there's a Clifford x Octavia scene, I hate this volume 5. Too much Hugh-pain-in-the-ass. 3/10, and that's because Clifford is there.

Also not gonna lie. Although Clifford looks good (I mean it's Clifford. Of course he gonna look good), I'm a bit disappointed because his hair is getting in his face... Can I see dem dark blue eyes, plz? And his facial expression is blank. I figured, after so much already happening in the series, he'd show a bit more emotion, maybe joy or even anger.
On the other hand I like his pose. It reminds me of those illustrations where the guy has a gun and the girl is pushed into him. In this case, Cliffy has a sword and Octavia is shushing us with "No horny". But I'm already in horny jail, so who cares.
On the other other hand, why is his hand not on her waist!?!?!?! Why no touching???? Whyyyyyyyyyyy????
On the other other other hand, why is Clifford's sword tassel golden!? I mean I get that it symbolizes him temporarily being under Douche as his escort knight, but I hate it!!! (ಥ﹏ಥ) Clifford belongs to Octavia! Make that into a black feather tassel!! (ಥ﹏ಥ) (ಥ﹏ಥ)

And currently, volume 6 of the manga is being drawn! ( ˶ˆᗜˆ˵ ) It begins (or continues) with Cliffy's POV! He puts her in bed himself!!!!!!!! He carries her down the carriage himself!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All while the maids stan!!
Here's a colored illustration of volume 6 of the manga!
I cropped it because apart from the main ship, it has all the supporting characters that I hate. They don't matter.
And loookkk!!! Octavia's holding Clifford's arm!!~~ It took me a while to notice that~~ Meanwhile, Clifford with that lance looks so Zhongli (whom I also adore~~). Only me?

Thanks for the spoilers @sovokop ! I also like your comments :ROFLMAO:. I would be putting off this for now and stick to your spoilers, I can't take Octavia's annoying brother. How is he so stupid :emoji_spam::emoji_spam::emoji_spam:?!?!

Thank you for the thank you~~ :aww: Always appreciate an appreciation for my fangirling :aww:

Well, according to the book, he's hypnotized/brainwashed... but I don't care :blobhero: I seriously want to purge him.

I know it's going to be excused... but I don't want this behavior to be excused. As you can tell by now, I'm not one of those "Oh, but it wasn't him. He was technically a different person because he was hypnotized. He actually loved her blah blah blah". I don't want to give him a redemption arc, because him being horrible to her is making his faction (so far, from what I can tell, it's only men) say bad things about her. And having complete control over someone's mobility and choices is a disgusting aspect of him. And his obliviousness too. If not for the King, he would've forced his own person as her knight, who would then technically be able to spy on her. His scenes always piss me off.

I don't know how many chapters... or volumes ugh...it's gonna take to get over this problem.

Then again, I don't even know how long it's gonna take for the real romance to start and not the subtle flirting that I'm deluding myself with. When will Clifford and Octavia reach base three. That's right :blobpopcorn_cool: Hand holding without any gloves :blobpopcorn_cool: (although Clifford has kissed her bare hand many times and she's touched the scar on his neck. So... there's technically been skin on skin? :blobghostnomming: If I wanna get really lewd, I'd say she's touched his touched sword :bloblenny: and he's touched her fan :bloblenny: Like, literally, that is :blobimfine: . I need the lover arc so bad).

Ugh. I'm skimming through again because the plot is just going back and forth and I care none for these people. I mean, it can be intriguing for some, but I need the romance! Too many mysteries, too little romance.

So anyways, they're still in Edgar's parents shop. Octavia rented the second floor using her authority ig, and she hated it (cuz she doesn't generally like abusing her authority and giving out orders. She'll only do it if it's a necessity). This time, Edgar's mom was there too but the dad was pissed at all times. He asks what more does she want from them, calling her "Your Royal Highness" (and I'm guessin that's sarcasm. Cuz he's not happy). Octavia's call them as grandparents. The man apparently found it unpleasant, and Octavia didn't want to use it but "it was necessary for Edgar-sama's parents to become accomplices". I guess that alludes to letting them hear the plan, cuz that's basically this chapter.

Passing the baton to generic Derek, all is revealed. ... Well, some mysteries are revealed. So remember for my summary of Chapter 90 I said : "So, [Derek] is involved as maybe a spy to defeat the crooks? :hmm: Then wait... is Nathan innocent too?"

Yeah. The asshole Nathan is innocent.... :blobunamused: Dammit. I really wanted to get rid of him. :notlikeblob:

So him and generic Derek apparently have a plan of their own to catch the crooks who are among Douche's ppl. According to generic Derek, the culprit, the main mastermind basically, is deeply trusted by Douche, and doesn't show his trace easily, very well knows Douchebag, is "more knowledgeable about the inspection security system than anyone else, and has the authority to move it". And only person comes to Octavia's mind. Hugh-pain-in-the-ass.

    Warning. Rant time.

So is it him? Is it gonna be him!? I need one of these guys to be socked!!! Hugh-pain-in-the-ass is sus. No wait, Nothin-on-Cliffy kidnapped Sill so he's sus. No wait, generic Derek is sus. Nope, chotte a minute, they're innocent and Hugh-pain-in-the-ass is actually sus! Which is it!? Who's sus? Who's the imposter? Is it actually gonna be him? Or is there gonna be someone else? Or is it me? I don't know anymore. The information just keeps going back and forth. I refuse for the author to throw me another "haha you thought it was him, but it wasn't! It was a plan about a plan to make pretend plan but the plan was to find the actual plan flan man fan". And it doesn't help that the Japanese fandom is actually wishing for that. :blobconcerned:

On the bright side.... to me personally... it would make sense if it's Hugh-pain-in-the-ass. Because like I said before, he's calm and intelligent enough to make a good plan. ... Hopefully assuming that it's actually him... :blobconcerned:

    Apologies for the rant.

Anyways, Octavia wanted to deny it (I didn't). But the hypothesis of it being him makes sense. Generic Derek continues that Hugh-pain-in-the-ass acted in such a way that he directed suspicion toward Nathan. That made Derek sus of both of them. But he found out that Nathan was actually looking into Hugh and Hugh seems to had known. (bffs turning against one another, and I'm lovin it :meowsip: is that bad?). Octavia comments that Nathan has a keen intuition ( :blobspearpeek: ). She thought for a minute and then asked if Hugh sabotaged Sill's carriage, but Derek says it may not have been him who did it himself (going by Clifford's testimony that he saw one of Douche's men because they had a golden tassel), but Hugh-pain-in-the-ass may have given instructions to ... well someone... translation was confusing so I don't specifically know who.

Octavia thinks if it was him who did all that, then was he trying to aim for Sill life, since apparently, in the original novel Hugh-pain-in-the-ass was in love with Window Sill. So she thought maybe he'd love him enough to kidnap him (you know, like some toxic clinched men in romance stories who i luv so i kidnap). She'd understand if that was the motivation. She thinks that maybe the inspection was a diversion since Douche monitors Sill (which is creepy). And I think that Octavia thinks that now Hugh-pain-in-the-ass isn't in love with Sill. Then she remembered the golden tassel, aka Clifford's testimony.

Generic Derek be doin that cliche like oh but do you trust me on this, because I could be double-crossing you and am actually part of the crooks. Sigh  . You wanted her cooperation, so you asked. So do you want her to not trust you or not? :blobexpressionless: . Which is it? :blobconfused: Make up your mind (sorry, I'm snappy from the lack of Vitamin C). Octavia sees sincerity and says she believes in him (blegh) and he's grateful (back. off. :blobhero:).

She tells Clifford ( :aww: ) that she's going back to the castle without Douche knowing (yes, rebel gurl) to stop Hugh-pain-in-the-ass (I swear, he better be the culprit :blobpopcorn_two: ). She tells him to be prepared for that, and Clifford ( :aww: ), who was waiting, bowed his head in acknowledgment of that order (but I can't tell if he's reluctant :hmm: when I see "..." or "--" before and after a word, i think it symbolizes reluctance. Maybe I'm wrong. :hmm: ).

Derek stops her and she says that it's necessary to catch up with Hugh-pain-in-the-ass asap and generic Derek here has to persuade Douche that he's innocent and Hugh is actually sus. She says that Douche will believe in generic Derek (blegh). And even if it doesn't work, he still has something to do, so he has to do his best.

And I think she wondered how did generic Derek and Nothin-on-Clifford found out while Douche didn't even wonder that it could be Hugh :blobrofl: Says a lot about how imperfect he actually is, gurl. Of course, I knew it since the beginning :cookie:

She goes on that she'll go to the castle first and her orders are higher, since she's a princess unless they're moving according to Hugh-pain-in-the-ass's instructions.

And then she finally turned to Edgar's parents, who are outsiders. She says if they heard the story, and they should understand the situation by now and there's a problem. She apparently "chose to involve these two people in carrying out what [she has] to do".

The lack of Clifford is killing me :blob_coughblood: so god bless the manga. Clifford is a snacc and you can't change my mind :blobhero: So here's a clean snippet from the ongoing manga vol 6, translated by yours truly.
Also, does anyone else thinks that this looks like the two coming home from their wedding? :aww: Hey, lemme dream.
I love this page because the maid behind the head maid is my reaction to this scene of Clifford.

Forgot that it's a Saturday (or Sunday depending on where you are), so the LN was updated.

So Octavia asks them to take her side after this, and the man, Edgar's dad says that they can't decide if she or Douche is right, since there's a rumor going around that there's a fight between the two for the throne, further fueled by Douche's own ignorance. Octavia says that they don't need to trust her, and knows that they don't trust either of them since they're both royalty, and the man hates royalty. She thinks that something probably happened in the past between them and the royal family and your father, in relation to Irene, their daughter. She tells them that it's a trivial matter if he helps either her or Douche (I don't get it. I'm going to off MTL rather than a refined translation). She says what if she gives them a reason to help, and the man was confused. She tells them that she'll grant them one wish as a princess to the best of her ability, and asked if they have any wishes.

Edgar's mom, who looked like her daughter Irene, then says that if they do help her, will Octavia really be able to grant her wish. Edgar's dad then interrupts, saying if she really trusts the royal family, with what happened to Irene before cutting off.

You can already imagine that the royal family did something to Irene. It's pretty clear-cut at this point. The only question here is (among the plethora of questions from this series) how and what exactly happened to her.

I'm not gonna make any wild guesses as to what might have happened to Irene.

But there's probably seemingly a connection to her and Edgar in volume 3 of the manga and the LN, when Enoch, the king, and Alexis' biological mom were having a convo privately in a room. Alexis could only gather chunks of the convo (and by him, I mean us!) before running away. There's a mention of a grave, along with Edgar in the conversation.

I repeat the rabbit hole is going deeper that we're nearing the Earth's mantle.

The mom says that Edgar never said anything bad to the "Highnesses", so the dad shuts up. The mom's wish is that if Edgar is ever in trouble, help him. Her words caught Octavia's attention, like something will definitely happen to him in the future. She asks if it's even when Edgar did something wrong, because she doesn't want to help if he's basically in the he-did-something-bad-and-now-he's-in-trouble trouble. The mom said that only if Octavia thinks that Edgar is in the right and then to help him. Octavia agrees.

The man had a complicated look but gave up. He then says that Octavia stands out in her dress and that she can change into his dead daughter's clothes. They went to Irene's room. It was too small for Princess Octavia but for Maki, there was a sense of kinship from the room, since it was preserved. The couple conversed the if Irene was alive, she would've wanted them to help but the old days are long gone and there's no going back (for some reason reminds me of the line "There's no coming home" from Bury the light. My heart's breaking here).

The man tells Octavia that as long as he can fulfill his wife's wishes, he'll cooperate (awwww how cute :aww: Thinking about it now, they're the first heterosexual married couple we've met in this series). He tells her that if there is anything else she needs, she can tell him. It isn't stated but I think Octavia was feeling sad but she couldn't hesitate, probably because of the mission at hand. Maybe she didn't want to intrude on their dead daughter's possessions or use the kindness of basically a grieving couple.

So the plan was to change into Irene's clothes, which would be "town girl style clothes" and escape through the back with Clifford (oh my~~~~ :aww: elopement~~ :bloblove: I'm sorry. I'll focus :blobpeek: ). She'll earn more time by preparing a double (this will be interesting :cookie: ).

Clifford and Octavia rode on the horses that had been prepared. She found it regrettable horse riding wasn't part of her princess education (well, yeah, they wouldn't expect a "treasure" (baby maker) to be doing something like horse riding when she can just ride the carriage :blobunamused: ) and it would've been less of a burden on Clifford (I can't tell if they're riding on one horse or on separate horses :hmm: . I hope it's the former).

Back at the store, I'm guessing before their getaway, the mom asked if she can change her clothes by herself (like old dresses would need a helper like those Victorian dresses (though the dresses in this series aren't victorian style, just to clarify) and she's a princess and she would have ppl do that for her). But it wasn't hard for Octavia. She changed into a white and pink apron dress, and put her memo pad and pencil, and Clifford's tassel gift (it doesn't explicitly say but I know it's for him. You can't keep this as a mystery, author! I know your game!)

The mom looks like she's about to cry when she was Octavia so Octavia discerned that Irene might've been around her age when she died. Octavia thinks that when one loses a family member, they grieve like this, and then wonders if it's painful for her family too ( :meowsadlife: ) and if they're keeping her own room the same as she kept it ( :meowsadlife: :meowsadlife: ).

Octavia then noticed that the mom was looking at Octavia's tiara, particularly at the side where there were flowers (from the fake flower ceremony where Sisi placed flowers in her hair), and the mom comments on the fresh flowers. Octavia says that even royalty sometimes want to use fresh flowers as decorations, and the mom mentions Edgar. Octavia replies that he put Lishran flowers in her hair (once! he did that once! Clifford did it twice! And he was also jelly twice when other ppl put it in her hair! .... meowglare wait, Clifford isn't related to the lady and the convo atm.... my bad...). The mom smiled faintly and apologized for her husband being rude, and Octavia replies that their cooperation with her is enough. Octavia thinks that the two hate the royal family, but specifically, Enoch. The mom says that she knows that they shouldn't lump everyone together just because they're royalty ( :blobpeek: like u royalty, u trash :blobpeek: ) Octavia thinks that it'd be fine if they do, to make it easier for them.

Then, generic Derek knocks on the door if she's ready. Before leaving, she put on a hooded overcoat in case ppl from the ceremony remembered her face (would they remember Clifford's face then? :hmm: Will he wear an overcoat too? :hmm: Such deep questions :hmm: )

Before she leaves, she remembered one last thing.

Guy and Eleil are surprised by her city girl style (look, sometimes girls wanna wear something nice and fancy, other times, we just wanna wear a large-ass hoodie with some comfy jeans and sneakers. :meowsipglare: ) Also, the two have no idea what's going on, and thinks it's easier to just order them to make things easier for them rather than them being untrustworthy.

Now. It's "Who's going to be Octavia's double" time! :cookie: :blobrofl:

Clifford and Derek are out because of their bodies. Excluding generic Derek, Clifford does have a large chest :blobnosebleed: . And this isn't just me. There's fanart of Octavia noticing that large luxurious chest while hugging him! :blobmelt: It's nothing lewd. :blobmelt:

Also, this scene reminds me of this :blobrofl::blobrofl::blobrofl::blobrofl: How cute. Of course, this isn't related to this particular scene. But I can only imagine Clifford's reaction :blobsmilehappyeyes: :blobrofl:

Octavia chooses Eleil. She calls his name, and he's like "Yes!" and then she orders him to change into her dress. :blobrofl: Then he goes like "Yes?" Oh god, the confusion :blobrofl: She orders Guy to help him too :blobrofl::blobrofl::blobrofl: Apparently, Octavia made some adjustments to the dress and got a silver wig since there were in a general store. Gurl was prepared! :blobrofl: Anyone else thinking that this is revenge for him once "accidentally" throwing his sword at her in volume 1 at the training grounds? :blobsmilehappyeyes: Oh man, what would Rust's reaction be if he found out his litte brother was forced into a princess dress :blobrofl: ? I swear I want this in Clifford's POV! :blobsmilehappyeyes:

She gives him her black fan, her signature item, and the way he holds it disqualifies him. He says that it's a rev bird (oh you coward :blobexpressionless: ).

So she says that Guy can do it! :blobrofl:

And he immediately throws it to Guy! :blobrofl:

And Guy's just like huh. hey! :blobrofl:

She was sad that they were treating the fan, that she loves, like that (well, my dear, not every man can be a Clifford :blob_coffee: ).

She orders Guy, despite him having the same ideas about the Rev bird as Eleil, to open the 'black fan' and try to hide Elail's face, since there are times when nobles give their attendants a fan (reminds me of when Clifford handed her the fan at the semi-ball while kneeling. His way of telling the men that she's got a man :aww: and to back off :blobmelt: Looking at u, generic Derek). Octavia tells them that they have to continue the inspection for her with Derek Derek assisting them, and to do their best to keep her and Clifford's absence from being discovered for a while (so they can elope hehe. :blobmelt: delusions :blobmelt:)

The two guys look at each other and accepted her command.

She approached a window, and Clifford was already down there. Yup. She had to jump down there. And since Clifford was there, she had to basically be like Juliet. :aww: Or Rapunzel? I can't recall if they ever jumped down :blobconfused: ,... but wait those are the stories where the guy goes up. Guess Octavia gonna change that :blobrofl: . Octavia slapped her cheeks (y' know, anime/manga style of "get it together bish"). She put on her hood, and looked back at Edgar's mom to say that she's going now.

She aimed for Clifford and dove down. :blobxd: I guess you could say she... fell for him... :blobxd: (I'm not apologizing).

The mom called out to take care in a small voice.

And with that Clifford and Octavia rode off into the sunset. They said "fuck this" and successfully escaped the country. They got married, settling in a nice quiet place by the countryside of another kingdom, starting their new and happy lives, with Octavia's startup company and Clifford being a doting daddy. And Esfia fell or something. The end... in my dreams. That's not what happens.

But I'm excited for the next chapters! And I don't need to tell you why at this point :aww: I mean.... I fangirl so hard, you'd know me enough at this point. :blobpeek:

In case anyone can't access mangadex or find it on other manga sites. Volume 3 is now completely translated.

Thank Sovokop very much for the spoilers of the novel and the translation of the manga. The memes at the end of the chapter are great.:
I'm so looking forward to the next chapter to see the interaction between Octavia and Clifford! If the next chapter is a POV of Sill or Sirius it will be an unpleasant.aww: :bloborz:
I apologize for my English, it's not my native language.

Since you know about my memes :bloblenny: , I'm assuming you've read my translation of the manga :blobpeek: . Thank you for reading my translation! :aww: It's my first time translating so I'm glad the comments I've seen so far on some sites are generally positive. Including the memes. I don't why, but I keep making memes of this manga. I was worried that it might be a bit over the top, but then I thought "meh, might as well have some fun." :meowpuffymelt: My greatest worry is that I have more memes than the whole chapter lol. :cookie:

    Don't worry. I understand you perfectly.:blobmelt:

While I agree that Sirius is unpleasant, you don't have to worry about him in the next chapter (which will be the next volume, but do worry about him in volume 6). However, Sill's POV is there, which involves him talking to Daddy Duke, Derek's dad, and Stain, Daddy Duke's spy. I hate it... but for the sake of the plot (because it has a bit of tea).... :meowsipglare:

I should add that Guy, a supporting character who knows that Clifford is Ongarne's messenger and is scared of him, his POV will be included as well in volume 4, and it includes his conversation with Clifford~~ :aww: As well as a short but cute moment with Clifford and Octavia~~ :bloblove:

I love Guy's POV so much! The whole comedy in the novel rests only on him. I want to read how Rast's younger brother will portray Octavia! And it would be desirable to see Rust's reaction to this.:blobjoy:
I'm really looking forward to the interaction between Octavia and Clifford. According to the novel, about 6 days have passed since the creation of the "master-servant" connection, so the relationship between them is developing very quickly. But 6 years have passed for us (about the same time a novel is being released in Japanese)

I want more interactions with Guy and Clifford. I know he's scared of him, but that's the funny part :aww: . At this point, I'm just bullying the poor guy.

I didn't count the days, but wow 6 days :blobfrowning: ? And 6 days spanned into 5 novels? :blobneutral: Wow. That's... that's something...

Well, you have to also take into account that they have been together for 3 months prior to the two forming a "master-servant" bond. While Octavia basically didn't bother to even learn about Clifford because she thought he'd leave one day, it's my theory that Clifford, since he was the one who initiated the bond, would know a bit more about her since he's a very observant guy. And Octavia's "I trust you" was the icing on top that sealed their connection, even if Clifford himself was confused by why he did that (but he isn't regretful :bloblove: ).

The six days would seem like Octavia finally notices him and they actually date converse with one another but someone or something always interrupts them :blobhero: .....hence the five novels.....I swear, there's some kind of a conspiracy against Clifford......

    IT'S HEREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!

    CLIFFORD AND OCTAVIA MOMENTTTTTTTTTTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    (For me)

I must say, chapter after chapter of the lack of Clifford, this specific chapter is giving me so much of Clifford~~~~~~~~~

    (For me)

Perhaps that was the intention. First, the author denies me some Clifford scenes, and after much agony and the Vitamin C deficiency, BAM! Here's Clifford! And it's so beautiful :blob_teary: . I was squealing as I read through the chapter while spinning in my chair, until I remain people might be disturbed at my place.

Also, plz forgive my excess emojis... (plz, I've been Clifford-deprived for so long :blob_teary: )

Leaving off from when Octavia dove straight into Clifford ( :bloblenny: ) he caught her (Guess you could say she took a leap of faith in Clifford, eh? :bloblenny: ). Clifford was considerably shocked at her jumping, but this time she didn't even flinch (because she flinched about twice when he kinda got mad/upset (I mean, no one really likes making people angry, imo). First was quick when Octavia lied that she chose him because the sky god said so, and the second was when she deliberately hurt herself, and he audibly said he was angry. The fact that she wasn't scared of him shows improvement in their relationship :bloblove:). Clifford actually states that it was "reckless" (why do I love that he said that? :aww: I need help). She replies that it's because Clifford wouldn't have let her drop right and he says "... Yes" (lol, why do i feel like the scene is akin to Clifford being in scolding mode but Octavia used cute mode and Clifford gave up like "dammit, she's adorable" :blobxd::blobxd::blobxd:). But his dark blue eyes that were close to her were still unsatisfied (#marriagecouple #marriagegoals). She was aware and that he was hugging/holding her from the front. She said that it was her fault that pushed through with an order and then cited the horses. but before she could finish, Clifford immediately said that he "Understood" and, still holding her ( :blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobmelt::blobmelt::blobmelt::bloblove::bloblove::bloblove: ) . He carried her to the horse and put her on it :aww:. The horse lacked stirrups, but Clifford easily got on it (well, it's Clifford) and Octavia, as usual, was impressed (aren't we all? :blobpopcorn_cool: ).

So the position is the Octavia is sitting behind Clifford. I kinda wanted her to sit in front of them, but it wouldn't make sense since her visage and long hair might get in his vision and they had to hurry up. Not to mention, sitting at the back has its own perks,... if you get what I mean huhu :bloblenny: :bloblenny: :bloblenny:

Before they departed, Octavia had a bit of problem. She didn't know what to hold on, and nearly fell (I know that feeling. Once rode a camel. It was scary af and I was holding onto my cousin despite the saddle while screaming. Viva la modern vehicles). She was saved when she grabbed onto Clifford's stomach. She thought about grabbing the horse's mane, but knew that be animal abuse, so she asked Clifford if she could "desperately" cling to his stomach? :blobxd: :aww: And I have to add, I love how Octavia tends to ask Clifford for permission before she does anything regarding him. Clifford says it's not a problem (THIS! THIS definitely needs to be in his POV! I demand two povs in this volume! :blobphone: )

Clifford then asks if her left hand still hasn't healed. (The man! :blobxd: :blobxd: . He's been worried about her hand since volume 3 and we're in volume 5 :blobxd: How sweet :blobmelt: :blobpats: ). She moves it a bit, and I think that there was some slight pain maybe idk but she says she's fine. Clifford looks like he wants to say something but she tried to show him that she's fine by wrapping her arms around Clifford's stomach, basically that she can hold on to him :bloblove: (YES! BACK HUG! :blobnosebleed: ).

AND THENNN their bodies were tightly attached to each other :blobnosebleed: and she could directly feel his body temperature and basically his abs :blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed: (see? the perks of sitting at the back! :blobnosebleed: or rather, the pecs~~ :blobnosebleed: ) and her heart skipped a beat (mine too~~~~ I need more fanservice! I just had one so far! :blobsleepless: ) Octavia stops herself that now’s not the time to have wicked thoughts (what're you talking about!? NOw's the perfect time to have wicked thoughts! :blobdrool: Do you have any idea how many chapter it took for him and you to finally share a scene in this volume!!!) To her, holding Clifford was her lifeline (yes, horny lifeline :bloblenny: ....and from falling of the horse since she's never rode on one before). (Also, I wonder if this will be in Cliffy's POV and if he ever thinks "Is she feeling me up?" :blobpopcorn_cool: )

She then commands him to take her to the royal castle, and he kicks the horse (to giddyup, there's no horse abuse). And they were riding pretty fast that it had to take time for her to adjust her eyes.

They arrived at a gate and she hoped they'd let them pass because Clifford was in his knight uniform but she had a hood on. They gate guards yelled at them to stop, but Clifford didn't slow down ( :bloblenny: ) and Octavia worried that was he gonna cut through. So she tugged on his uniform (awww :aww: ...why am I romanticizing every scene as if they're on a date!?) Clifford looks at her as if asking "what is it?" She tells him that it'll be bad if they make noise so they should settle it down peacefully. Then the horse stopped (He listens to waifu well :bloblove: ). A gate guard came to them and said the royal family was on an inspection and they were investigating and ask Clifford, who was in his knight uniform, to cooperate with them and then point out to the passenger, aka Octavia. But before he could finish, she slightly lifted her hood up and the guard recognized her. She told him it's urgent and if it was good to pass now. Ig after confirming it with Clifford, he lets them pass.

    The horse ran again.

And Clifford's hand was on her head and repositioned the hood. :bloblove::bloblove::bloblove::blob_plusone::blob_plusone::blob_plusone::blobmelt::blobmelt::blobmelt: Taking an initiative I see? :aww:

They see the Esfia bridge which was far but in sight and they had to cross that to get to the castle. Octavia was happy, and then

    and then

    and then

She heard Clifford click his tongue (I was like ohhhhhhhhhhhh Clifford showing his unknightly sideeee and I'm lovin itttttt :blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed: because he's getting more comfortable around her. Part of me wonders if the lack of Octavia for Clifford and the jealousy he had (I'm calling it as jealousy) kinda frustrated him and his guard is bit down since he's kinda relieved to be by her side again? Just a food for thought :cookie: ). He then apologizes and she wonders for what? For clicking his tongue? (Even Octavia is as surprised as me! :blobxd: ) He further comments that he "should’ve disposed of it in the morning" and his eyes were full of, what I could only translate as, remorse. So this relates to Guy's POV when he noticed that Clifford was looking at a certain direction, suggesting there's something sus. And it was. Let me say this again, Clifford was right! :blobphone:

Octavia was like "Disposal is dangerous though!" and wondered what the hell he meant... until an arrow flew at her. But Clifford blocked it with his sword. She saw by the bridge were Esfian soldiers and knights, standing to block the traffic (aka them) and five horsemen rode over to them. Octavia took off her hood and revealed her identity as the princess in order to make them make a path, but it had the opposite effect and tried to attack her. The horsemen tried to swing their swords and the arrow kept flying. But, of course, Clifford blocked all of it and managed to make the horsemen fall off their horses :blob_pompom: . And one of the horses just ran away somewhere lol ( like "I'm freeee! See ya bitches!". Lowkey reminds me of the black beauty story).

Clifford acted like a barrier and Octavia felt like those main characters in those commonly depicted battle scenes where there’s a barrage of guns being fired but it doesn't even hit the main character (gurl, you are the main character).

The arrows stopped and were about to cross the bridge, but because the bridge was moveable, they raised it into two splits. And it was pretty high-tech that it was raised in a few seconds, and Octavia wanted to yell that that uselessly high-tech in this era setting is wrong lol :blobxd:

She called Clifford's name and Clifford told her to please hold on tight :blobnosebleed: Clifford fixed her holding him. I forgot to add, but during the fight, while Clifford was fighting with his sword, he only uses one hand, as if the sword itself was a living being (I wonder if there's a history behind his sword because it's very decorative with a horn-like handle :hmm:) and his other hand was holding on to her hands which were holding his stomach :blobnosebleed::blobnosebleed: .

So she pressed my head against Clifford and clung tightly, while the horse rushed to the rising bridge (I wonder if horses, in situations like these ever think "Hey, you crazy bitch! You think I can make that!? Am I pegasus to you!?" :hmm: ). The enemies, part of the crooks, called out to hurriedly raise the bridge. Clifford controlled the horse to make a leap and there was a "feeling of floating".

They successfully crossed. But there were more knights and soldiers, and Octavia told Clifford ig to just ignore them and he doesn't need to deal with them. Likely to avoid Clifford's exhaustion i think. They finally reached the castle, and Octavia made sure to show her face to the guards, while Clifford supported her body ( :bloblenny: ). And Octavia orders them loudly to open the gate.

That was quite a roller coaster for a first date :bloblenny: jk.

Aloha, everyone. So, apparently the next chapter is Hugh-pain-in-the-ass' POv. I hated that fact, but as I read.... yeah, Hugh-pain-in-the-ass is gonna be redeemable.... it's questionable... but redeemable. I looked at the chapter closely for any tea... and yeah it had tea. Huh. His POV is more useful Generic Derek's POV. Hah!

His POV is called Hugh Roberts' choice without regrets because he doesn't regret the choice he made.

He's smart enough to be the mastermind (and I called it! Hah!) But his choice is.... stupid... even if he means well.

So it starts off with him reaching the Esfia Bridge before anyone realized he's actually the one who's sus. A guard knows him because he's popular as Douche's guy, but the guard still wants to check the license. When the guard is busy checking the license, Hugh-pain-the-ass basically punched him unconscious, by hitting him in the chest (I actually felt bad for the guard, ngl). Then he called out his "comrades", and the quotation marks are actually his quotation marks because he doesn't genuinely see them as his comrades. He orders them to move and hide the regular soldiers (ig those who aren't with them) and not to kill them, and to not let anyone cross the bridge. If someone did try to and they failed to prevent that, raise the bridge (jokes on you, Clifford reigns supremacy :meowsip: ). He didn't have it be raised up alreay because apparently whenever it's raised up, the castle immediately knows and he doesn't want to alarm them (again, very high-tech for people who don't have memo pads lol :cookie: ). He knew that someone might come after him so he gave precautionary instructions to them.

So about the "comrades" they were both working for the castle and were also anti-royalists. Because Hugh was a man of high status and was Douche's right-hand man, they were easily convinced. But he himself didn't believe in anything he said and thinks that because he didn't say anything he was able to talk more than he could to get them on his side. But he did wonder why they betrayed Celius.

So he's going to the castle to get of Window Sill. And he's doing that to obey the orders of his "former master". :cookie: Before you think, is a jyuu, like I did, no, he's not. His former master is Celius before his brainwashing/hypnosis.

He has a flashback to an old but vivid memory that he buried inside his memory. I'll refer to him as Celius, or former Celius, here because he wasn't spouting bullshit like he is now :blobpopcorn_two: . Sigh. I know I've said it before, but I hate that he's also redeemable :blobpopcorn_two: . Anyways, the memory became important because Celius fell in love with Sill and the former Celius' fears came true :meowsip: . So I'm not sure when this memory occurred in terms of age if they were young, but it certainly took place before he met with Sill. So former Celius is worried about what Enoch, his dad, said, and trails of his Enoch between when he was the crown prince and now when he’s the king, likely to when Enoch was also supposedly rebellious to Esfia (I've said it before in Post #162 about theorizing that Enoch actually hates Esfia but also has somewhat internalized the norms). He then wonders what's hiding in Esfia (so Ig Enoch also had the talk with former Celius like he had with Octavia regarding the former queens). He then gives Hugh, who was the only one there, that if he ever changed, Hugh make sure to put him on the correct path. Hugh, of course, didn't understand what he meant, and tries to say something but former Celius cuts him off that he also wants to believe in his future self but he asks Hugh if he can be sure that he won't be like his father. :blobangry2: First, former Celius is smart, current Celius can piss off. And two, does this imply that maybe Enoch was also brainwashed?? :hmm: Was it a temporary this, or are there any side effects left :hmm: because he does show signs of hating Esfia in subtle ways. Hugh says nothing, and former Celius goes on that he "wants to destroy this system of Esfia. It's fine to be married with same sex. However, if [one has] rights, [one] should also have responsibilities to fulfill. It’s unacceptable to enjoy rights alone while abandoning responsibility. All the more so if it’s a king. If the king, who should be an example, is wrong, then it's no use.:blobangry2: :blobangry2: :blobangry2: It kinda clear from including the same sex that he means about the sisters giving birth, about twice and forced to hand over their kids if the king turns out gay and refuses to have a woman (or just change the system from monarchy to democracy and you can stop caring about classist "pure blood", but this is an isekai. Democracy doesn't exist in isekais :meowknife: . Plus, I'm only here for Clifford). Former Celius thinks that because the king doesn't change, the system doesn't change so he's gonna cut the trend off in his generation. Hugh thought of getting Derek, former Celius' bestie, but Hugh now realizes everything that former Celius meant. Derek is apparently "kind" (not as kind as my Clifford! ::blobpeaking:: ) and not as ruthless as Daddy Duke to get the job done. He also wanted to do this for Octavia's sake (why?).

He had many chances to stop like the attack plan during the inspection, the unsuccessful attempt of sabotaging Sill's carriage (so it was him, mystery solved), and even before and in the middle of the inspection, and even now.

So, he remembers a line that Octavia apparently once said that if it were her, she'd choose the order she wants to obey. I don't remember because I skimmed through the chapters with him and her because... you know.... no Clifford, no life. He agree with her words with all his heart and he also is choosing the one he wants to obey, which is Celius before he became a douchebag- I mean his brainwashing/hypnosis. And he had no regrets, hence the chapter title. But here's an interesting parton the very last line of this chapter "No matter if this plan itself succeeds or fails, his purpose will be achieved." The purpose is to get rid of Sill, so if Sill is still safe, hence the plan being a bust, what's the purpose that he achieved? :hmm: Maybe to snap Celius out of it and remember his original goal and his love for his sister? :hmm: Low key curious. Okay, high key curious.

But, for a smart guy who's a mastermind behind this whole fiasco, he's stupid. Octavia has more brains than him. When Rust said that getting rid of Sill might help Octavia because she's in a bad position as the baby-making machine (with high surveillance around her might I add), she said that he doesn't want to get rid of him because there might be grudges. On one hand, yeah, Douchebag will be hella pissed, and, on the other hand, killing loverboy isn't kill gonna kill the system itself! You can always move one and find a new love, so then what would be the point of all this? Homonormativity is active in Esfia, and that's the issue. So you should be changing the internal aspects of Esfia, and I mean, the patriarchal aspects. Was he hoping to spark a social movement or something!?

Also... why is he after Octavia then!?!??!! Like, yes, Sill was targeted, but Octavia was also targeted!!! Did he forget about attack by the Carlam trees!? Did he do that deliberately because he knew that she'd be safe, particularly because of Clifford? Like, how does that constitute as a part of his plan!? :blobcat_hyper::blobcat_hyper::blobcat_hyper:

Overall, I am sad because no Clifford.

So I leave some remanents of Clifford so that you remember who's the male lead:bloblenny: (I-it's Clifford, just to clarify).

I found this really cute chibi Clifford and chibi Octavia in their semi-ball outfits. It's so cute~ It's like those pop-up paper dolls. I'm gonna make one for Clifford :aww: because there's no official merch :meowpuffytears:

Also, if anyone is interested, there's a fan artist who made really amazing fanart for this series, and I mean quality. You can make-that-are-you-wallpaper quality. They're also probably the only one bold enough to actually have these two kiss~~!! Even though some of the fans (I can cite one fan lol) wants some "lewd" (their words not mine :bloblenny: ) I've realized that the fan artists don't actually go bold with kissing (and I mean on the lips kissing, not Clifford kisses Octavia's hand kissing). That itself can be a blessing in disguise because you've seen fanart of other genres and media, like Genshin Impact, you know always gonna be someone who draws something and just... ruins it.... Kinda makes me happy, for that fact only, that this series is underrated (but I still want more people to read and love this). Luckily Clifford and Octavia's kiss is romantic (and maybe sensual, for me, :bloblenny: :blobpensivepray:), and that's the highlight of these two.

I did originally reference them, but they deleted their Twitter account, so out of respect I didn't share their art through imgur since I don't why they did that. But I found them on Pixiv, where other fan artists have also posted their art on the series (for some reason, another different fan artist deleted some of their work on PIxiv and I don't why). So I've decided to happily their link, for anyone who's going "Where's the romance!? Where's the kiss!? Where's the snusnu!? Where r da bebez!?" this should calm you hunger.
The artist is known as キャハ……ッッッッ.
You can find a list of their fanart on Pixiv here.
Here's just one of them :bloblenny: .

I resized it so that it's easier to see. I assure you the original's quality is really good.

    The translation:
Octavia (on the left): Clifford calms me down
Clifford (on the right): Is kissing still embarrassing for her...

+++ Hugh really did a stupid thing. But this situation will shake the authority of Sirius and his self-esteem. He deserved it.:blobunamused: Japanese fans think Hugh is going to die, but I don't think so. The worst thing is that he will be put in prison for a long time, at best, he will be pardoned. :blobunsure:

I have a two-fold attitude towards Sirius. The lack of memory doesn't justify his actions, but on the other hand, the former Sirius was a sensible person + took care of Octavia as a child (I really like the moment when she remembers her adaptation in the new world, Sirius helped her and paid attention!::bloblove:: this is chapter 14)

And it seems to me that the royal family is cursed by King Us :hmm:. He hated the Esfia and wanted to destroy it. And this curse is doing a great job with it.:blobexpressionless: I also think that Enoch's curse is related to Irene's death.

Oh my goodness!!!! The art is so so beautiful!::bloblove::::bloblove::::bloblove::

    Sovokop thank you!!

I'm looking forward to a chapter with Clifford and Octavia this week!:meowpuffymelt:
