Mainly looking for reincarnation theme where story starts from MC's childhood after he gets reincarnated in another world such as Mushoku Tensei. Any Japanese or Xianxia recommendations are welcome.
Quick answer, use the series find with reincarnated tag like so: http://www.novelupdates.com/series-finder/?sf=1&tgi=120&sort=abc&order=asc Longer answer will take longer. Edit:Gender Bender, yea or nay?
Except most reincarnation stories either skip the childhood part (or run straight by it) or never even had a childhood and was reincarnated fully grown (or at least postpuberty)
http://www.novelupdates.com/series/...ai-heiki-de-guntai-harem-o-tsukucchaimashita/ I expect you've seen this one before. Gun otaku, reincarnated. It has a childhood bit so ... but I dropped it so... http://www.novelupdates.com/series/magis-grandson/ Childhood passes quickly, slow releases but still good. http://www.novelupdates.com/series/the-mage-will-master-magic-efficiently-in-his-second-life/ More of a time slide than a reincarnation, but might work. Not many releases yet. http://www.novelupdates.com/series/the-man-picked-up-by-the-gods/ Not a pure reincarnation but the mc is still a child. I quite like this one but there have been rumors that the author dropped it or is rewriting it. Translator is still working on it though. http://www.novelupdates.com/series/world-teacher-other-world-style-education-agent/ This is probably the closest to what you are looking for. Time might pass a bit quickly but it's like Gun-Ota and MT. http://www.novelupdates.com/series/...e-path-i-walk-to-survive-in-this-other-world/ More of a transported and very meandering but it might work for you. That last bit would be incorrect as far I am concerned. If you weren't reborn literally it's not reincarnation it's transported.
Series finder may not help. While many Xianxia are reincarnation based, however MC rarely uses any knowledge of the modern earth. By Chapter 3, he becomes full fledged cultivator. You come to question the necessity of "Reincarnation from Modern Earth" story. Books like Mushoku Tensei or Dolulu Dulu where MC extensively uses the knowledge of past birth are rare. However in most of Japanese novels, MC uses modern knowledge than compared with Chinese novels.
@sal880612m Quite a few have them "reincarnated" into an already existing body While it is true it isn't actually proper reincarnation, it is still tagged as reincarnation. An example would be in Peerless Martial God
Being tagged as something, doesn't mean it was accurately or correctly tagged. I wouldn't consider PMG reincarnation as much as soul fusion or soul displacement. http://www.novelupdates.com/series/hachinan-tte-sore-wa-nai-deshou/ Another novel that may be worth looking at for the OP.
Peerless Martial God he only uses his knowledge in the city scene and it explains the reason why he is ruthless in the prologue where he didn't give a fuck and ran over 2 people with a car. he wasnt sent to another dimension by truck-san
http://www.novelupdates.com/stag/age-progression/ try these.. should be close to what youre searching
This is like asking a waiter in a restaurant - Do you serve main course? The most popular novels these days are reincarnation novels. Basically, 1) MC dies in one world. 2) MC reincarnates in another world. 3) MC power ups faster because of his experiences from his previous world. Tropes similar in most reincarnation novels I have read: 1) The other world is technically less advanced in some way. 2) MC introduces new techniques/ideas. 3) People bully MC, MC uses them to power up. 4) The reincarnated world may have game elements. 5) MC is stronger than his peers despite being at the same "power level" as them. 6) MC always has luck on his side. This tends to get boring if you read a lot of those. Notable variations include: 1) MC is evil - Overlord 2) MC only uses knowledge (there are no power levels here) - Knights and Magic 3) A balanced mix of both Power levels and knowledge - Tales of Demons and Gods. 4) No reincarnation, reality warping changes occur due to some reason that is yet to be identified and/or fully understood. - God and devil world
That was my whole point though. Searching via the reincarnation tag for series the thread creator is asking for isn't exactly quick to find, Lots of sifting through synapsis would still be needed which can be a pain
Tales of Demons and Gods http://www.novelupdates.com/?s=tales+of+demons+and+gods Not really a reincarnation; MC dies and somehow travels back in time to his childhood self. There's quite a lengthy lengthy lengthy period of his youth mentioned. Actually, I'm not even sure if the "childhood/teen" phase has even passed yet. If you're okay with some girly ones... It Seems Like I Got Reincarnated Into The World of a Yandere Otome Game http://www.novelupdates.com/series/...nated-into-the-world-of-a-yandere-otome-game/ MC reincarnates as an otome game character (villainess), but only remembers bits of her past sometime during her childhood. With those bits that she remembers, she realized the world she is in is quite a threat (*cough cough* note the word "Yandere" in the title) and she is determined to avoid the bad flags that comes with being a villainess. Although childhood phase isn't too long, I thought it was an adequate amount -didn't seem rushed at all in my opinion. An Otome Game’s Burikko Villainess Turned into a Magic Otaku Although I throw this in...it hasn't been updated for quite a while. I believe the translator mentioned of a lack of motivation to further translate it.
Thank you for the recommendations. I have tried using the Series finder but most of the translated ones I am already reading and others are not yet completely translated much. @sal880612m OK with gender bender if MC is OP and has good story.
I was going to say Dragon's Bloodline but I don't know that it meets that second requirement. If you haven't already though I do suggest New Journey of an Old Soul on RRL.
Yeah but I make certain assumptions when people ask for recs: 1) The person hasn't used series finder or doesn't know about it. 2) The person has already read most of what I would recommend. 3) There is no guarantee any one else is going to respond within an hour or even a day. 4) People rarely have any clue what they really want. 5) People can still enjoy something even if it wasn't exactly what they are looking for. 6) A quick response with less useful info at least lets the requester know someone has noticed and is trying to help. 7) Someone looking for something to read is probably bored or has free time. 8) Combine points 1,3 and 7. 10) Any of the above could be wrong, but even if nothing helpful comes of such threads at least someone tried to answer. 11) I skipped nine. 9) I'm making shit up now 'cause I'm tired.
