Haven't watched anime in a long time. I do read manga(occasionally), so i know of some that have transitioned over. Actually, i can only think of one rn - Boku no hero What anime have you found to be REALLY good? I would like some originals rather than adaptions. But whatever u recommend should be gucci
I have rewatched Saiki Kusuo again.. definitely one of the best and hilarious. Osomatsu san also good
Do you have a specific genre in mind? If you like comedy anime, I would recommend Seitokai Yakuindomo or SYD for short. It's an anime full of adult joke and s*x joke lol. I wouldn't say that it's an ecchi anime (it has very little fanservice) but it's definite not for kid.
Most of today's animes are adaptation of either mangas, novels and/or games. But as far as recommendations: Black Lagoon, Jormungand, Hellsing, Drifters & Youjo Senki for those looking for dark comedies Kuma Kuma Kuma Bear Yuru Camp OPM Breakwater Club Diary JJBA Uzaki-chan Wants to Play By the Grace of the Gods Maoujou de Oyasumi Mazinger Z Infinity Gundam Unicorn, Narrative, GBF & GBF Try SRW OG 1 & 2 Yashahime Tensei Slime Fugou Keiji: Balance Unlimited Log Horizon Gakuen Babysitters Toradora! Iron Man animated & Iron Man: Rise of Technovore BOFURI Wotakoi Gekkan Shoujo, Nozaki-kun Kekkai Sensen Hoozuki no Reitetsu Isekai Quartet
Kusoge tte Iuna! Animation Maou-jou de Oyasumi Kimi to Boku no Saigo no Senjou Aruiwa Sekai ga Hajimaru Seisen
Originals are extinct, vinland saga, rezero season 2,one punch man,mob pycho, jojo's bizarre adventure, how has nobody recommended jojos.
EDIT: Okay, most of the anime I'm recommending aren't originals, so I'll just label them as original anime instead of the other way around. Don't know how long you meant by "haven't watched anime in a long time," but Violet Evergarden seems to still be the most aesthetically pleasing animation. Also surprised people here haven't recommended Dr. Stone. The Mushishi series has a very different feel to a lot of other anime, so it's probably refreshing. No Game No Life also has a very different ambiance to it. Different genre though. Grand Blue (not to be confused with Grandblue Fantasy, didn't watch so I won't comment) and Gintama are hella funny if you haven't already read the manga. Oregairu is also finally wrapping up. The anime is quite dramatic, and I found it to be quite good, but if you can't relate to the characters or their thought process, you'll just get pissed off in the end. Obligatory Joestar's Perfectly Normal Trip here. As for originals, I liked Psycho-Pass and Id:Invaded. They both share a similar crime theme. Psycho-Pass probably has a more fleshed out political commentary though. 91 Days is another original, but it deals with the other side of the law, specifically Italians in America speaking Japanese. Fun Fact: Did you know that the anime was broadcasted over the span of 91 Days. Totally a coincidence amirite? Another original would be Samurai Champloo, which is a comedy. Interesting premise tbh.
