Is the MC for real? If the novel is the same as the manhwa, just reading chapter 1, i'm annoyed by how much of a dumba** the MC was in her previous life. In this life she didn't do much in that scene which is fine since I'm sure she has some reasons for which she didn't just immediately leave.
But what the hell was wrong with her in her previous life? Her husband came home with a woman telling his wife that this bitch will be staying in the annex and he is hugging her and his wife, the MC didn't doubt him ????? She only realized their ruse when she died? There's just a certain level beyond which I can't even find it in myself to sympathize with her

 

I think she doubted him but she loved him. She thought maybe if she acted like that slutty woman he would look at her way.
Well love makes people foolish.

She grew up with a father that was always away and her mother died when she was young. That is not a healthy emotional environment. Even though she had servants, they couldn't simply replace her parents. So, it looks to me that she was just desperate for someone to love and pay attention to her. She became infatuated with the first handsome man that fit her ideal even if it was all in her head. She clung to that ideal and her self-esteem was at rock bottom. " It's my fault. He gave me some attention once, so if I can just do this, he'll look at me again." It's frustrating, but to me it's just so sad.

 

Yea....I'm not sure if MC didn't realize it in her 1st life until her last moments where she saw them getting it on or if she's living in denial.... I'm curious w/ how the manhwa will frame her thoughts later on - like if the manhwa will go on to explain that she chose to turn a blind eye OR if she really really didn't notice it was an affair.

If the content goes in the direction of "she didn't know" I can kind of understand why she's naive based on ch2 of manhwa or why she didn't want to immediately confront the ex

Spoiler: possible reasons for her naivety

• She was raised in a wealthy Count's household and was usually the center of attention and given everything she wanted - sheltered
• The manhwa hasn't elaborated whether she had any close friends yet, but in terms of personal connections, her father was mostly absent b/c of work and her mother died early from pulmonary disease.
  • She was alone for most of the time after her mother died and though the people who were working on her estate cared for her, the translations said "my desires were never fulfilled"
    • where would she get love and affection that she's seeking if no one’s there?
• MC fell in love at first sight w/ sh**ty ex, probably b/c she doesn't see much people in her daily life that's of her age and status within her estate, and he just happened to be handsome. she was 19 at the time and had never been in a relationship either

Spoiler: a possible reason why MC didn't want to suspect / accuse ex of infidelity

I'm guessing the time period MC lives in is the usual "marriage is what will give women their ultimate happiness" and "an obedient, patient wife is best wife" so that's why she was reluctant to be suspicious, and even if she was, the ex husband will prob gaslight her to death and keep insisting the mistress is just there to "play chess" or tell MC she's "crazy" / annoying / etc. When a woman is framed as the "irrationally jealous wife" it's a bad look.

I'm not that mad about it b/c when I look at how sheltered she was + she lacked socialization + this was her "first love" it makes sense.
She met him at 19 > ex husb brought back mistress when she was 22 > died at 25.

I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt b/c teens to early 20s time period is when people make their first set of ill informed choices in life. Plus, it would be a different story if let's say, she was isekai'ed from a modern SKorea and had previous life experience that she remembered but she is somehow naive in her 2nd life.

Considering that MC in this story seems to be a regular noblewoman who was born and raised in that time period, I'm surprised it only took her 1 life for her to wake up and oppose the ex's hooligans instead of going through 2 or 3+ deaths (edit: ex. untouchable lady)
