But that is the literal meaning, in context it just means "I can't help but join in the drama" or something similar, right?

@Fallen231312 None of the above. There's a typo in there, it's not 跳戏, it's 调戏 What he's saying is: "I'm very sorry, but as I'm someone who is obsessed with appearances, I can't help but tease people who look so hiedous they'd frightened people."
His tone is much more condescending. I'd translate as: I'm sorry, but as someone who is a face-con, when catching sight of certain organisms with appearances that can only frighten people, I can't help but assail them with obscenities.
I did not know face-con was a word and that he was an eloquent speaker, that I plead ignorance on. 调戏 = teasing; 骂人/侮辱: Are more intense, hence I chose to use "tease"
