Question is mainly for women if you reincarnated to a less advanced world would you invent the tampon if so how well do you think the business of creating and selling them would be or how bad?
But using old time versions of tampons would be too much for a modern woman so you’d be tempted to make some for yourself and maybe family
Idk, tampon-like stuff has been around for ages. Like ancient Roman women had wool tampon-esq period protection, and various other cultures had some similar stuff. It wouldn't be completely out of the question, but I also think what would matter is how advanced the civilization is and how oppressed women are in that culture. After all, feminine hygiene had a stigma towards it for a long time. That being said, I don't think tampons would be a good starting place, but probably pads instead and then gradually working up to tampons. I mostly say this because of Toxic Shock Syndrome, and how it could be a fatal side-effect when people are not fully educated on the matter. You have to consider the fact that it would probably be seen as miracle product (in the right society) and people might not understand the health hazard of keeping a tampon in for too long or even reusing one, especially since it is likely that it would be a hard to get them consistently. You also have to remember that they would be used to washing their period items after use. However, many women would be probably be using cloth rags, especially in Western cultures. I think a product that is similar (pads) and is disposable would be a luxury item enjoyed by higher classes at best. It would definitely still hit some stigma, but I think you would have a better chance with pads than tampons.
Honestly I'd rather invent reusable washable pads instead. Like others have pointed out it's a cost + hygiene + stigma thing.
imK is right. Reusable pads would be the way to go. But it would be a real bother to get enough sales volumes for something that wouldn't sell for much money, as it's literally a piece of cloth that is just slightly customized. Lubed condoms and the contraceptive pills, on the other hand, were immense commercial successes during the 20th century with pretty good margins. Gotta target the right markets.
Where's your entrepreneurial spirit!? Success isn't a result of talent or knowledge, it's borne of an ATTITUDE!
Tampons might be a bit much for a more older society. Assuming I had another family there, they might not be able to accept them too. So I'd invent reusable pads like iMK too but I honestly have no clue how I could go about it with the materials and all.....
If you think you can just get rich by re-creating the tampon, you've probably read too much Isekai. Tampon is a simple product that people can easily copy and sell without giving you a single cent. If you want to monopolize a market, the product must not be duplicatable by others or you possess the ability to severely punish people who do so.
Okay I will ignore how retarded your idea is, and play with you. How do you prevent Toxic Shock Syndrome caused by overgrowth of Bacteria?
