So what's next? Are you going to change your CPU? What's your plan?

I do use E5 series last time, but after OC my 9700k my chips is faster than 2683v3
    upload_2019-8-27_18-44-23.png
    I'm surprise.
but I don't see 2690v3 or 2697v3 in the CPUZ list though.
so i don't really know if xeon is better. If cpuz is accurate.

I might get an x99 and a 2697v3 at the end of this year, 2697v3 is 20% faster than 2683v3 so in a sense it should be faster than my 9700K in multi threading tusk by 20% or more.
Since Xeon benefit from 4 ram channels, more pcie express lanes but Overclocking that 145 TDP (base clock) beast should be quite a challenge.

When you get shitty chips, add salt. :blobsalt:

Don't know what you require from your chip, but that looks way better than what I've ever touched.

This score is quite bad, "most" 9700k can go 5ghz with 1.29 ~ 1.30. Which should be at ~70°c more or less.

Every 9600k 9700k and 9900k can overclocked to 5ghz. But only 20% 9900k can get to 5.1ghz and more and only 12 or 13% of 9700k can get to 5.1 ghz.

    1.37v can oc a good 9700k to 5.1 ghz.

Edit: I'm too tire to try every voltage from 1.31 to 1.37, and stability test every thing knowing that my chips won't make it. I could get it a bit lower temperature at 72 to 74.
Or maybe increase my ring ratio a bit higher to 4900mhz. But there only affects stability and little performance gains other than benchmark.

Alright, alright, I was being reasonable by saying your money and saying that. If you have the money to buy it, go for it.

What socket you are using? I might think of a solution.
My smart guess it would be LGA 1366 (socket B).

You can upgrade to Screenshot_20190827_203613_com.taobao.htao.android.png x5690 for about 70 usd (1 year warranty) . Without changing any parts if you use that board.

    For LGA 2011 (socket R) you can there are 2680 v2, 2680 v3, 2690v3, 2697v3.
All of those are flagship chips.
2690v3 cost about $250 usd on taobao (1 year warranty).

Edit : you might need to change your coolers. Just checked x5690 have 130TDP. 玄冰400 (deep cool 400) $10~15 usd should be able to handle that.

    https://www.ebay.com/itm/Intel-Xeon...946665?hash=item5474547be9:g:H9MAAOSw5CZcggqZ
OMG tha't really expansive, first time seeing an ES cpu sold for around 500usd.

good luck finding a server that can even run it lol.
might as well buy a dual 2680v3 it's slightly faster than the ES version of 8180 in 2 vs 1 situation.

I use to care until I got a PlayStation so I cared a little less, then I got a very good smartphone and cared even lesser.
Then I got a powerful very cheap Desktop and I cared a lot lesser.
Then I got a tablet and no longer give a shit about specs.
When I got a second brand be new replacement laptop when HP couldn't fix my laptop(gotta love their warranty)
I gave it away to my sister and bought the cheapest laptop for myself.
No matter what, one of my devices will work.
I can buy 5 devices with the same price as one high end laptop that when it fails I get screwed.

Maybe you should put in more details on what you want to discuss about..
Your thread itself is like a statement..

Op : "so about 15% faster than normal ?
this should last me for 2 years after that OC a bit more."

    Me : "and?"
