    This seems to be a recurring theme in novels (and anime):

    The MC acquires a cute loli. Said loli falls in love with the MC.
    He either:
    1. Is an oblivious blockhead, remaining ignorant of her attempts to court him;
    2. Intentionally ignores her attempts, pretending to be an oblivious blockhead;
    3. Outright rejects her;
    because...
    "I'm not a lolicon."
    (even if the age gap is small)

    What's up with that? Lolis deserve love too!

    Sometimes it's paired with "I only like busty women" or "I'm in the big-breasts faction", etc.
    This is even worse!
    Is he really that shallow? Is her personality worth nothing? She's immediately disqualified on the basis of her body. He's not even willing to stake his chances on her future?

    And here's the worst one:
    Sometimes, the MC may actually like her, but he's so stubborn about upholding his "I'm not a lolicon." stance/image that he'll rather they both be lonely and longing than pursue a relationship of mutual love.

    --
    Also, why is it that the loli is always the one getting neglected in any harem setting?
    This is also a recurring issue in anime.

    Lolis are often the cutest and best-written characters that the reader/audience can come to adore, yet the other characters don't realize their potential and treat them harshly. If anything, they should be treated with MORE care. I want to cringe every time a loli is neglected.

    Even if you're not a lolicon, surely you should consider her other merits without immediately disqualifying her solely on the basis of her body...

    Then, on the other extreme, there may be some trashy smut to cater specifically to the needs of lolicons, but... WHY can't we just have a normal story where lolis are loved?

    /rant

    ---

    What do you think?

    Also, to heal my heart, do you have any recommendations for novels where lolis are treated with the care they deserve?

    All i think was why are you reading those kind of stories you hate, whenever I see a story that I don't like, I'll just drop it into void without care.

    Monogatari Series(in all seriousness that loli there can transform into everything you want, best girl)

    I don't wanna go full sperg, but Sevens has a lovable loli, but the mc treats her like shit, anyway in the end, they ended up having three kids.(edited this sentence)

    Yes... you should look beyond the loli appearance and see what they really are.

    What.

    No.

    @Naruin I am not a loli

    I absolutely approve of that. Especially the option 3 reject outright so they can go to greener pastures. Or you know, not be strung along.

    We should be ranting at the authors.

    Because there's no such thing as a healthy and loving relationship between an adult and a child. All such relationships are inherently abusive and exploitative. I can't believe I have to say this.
    Edit: To clarify, I obviously mean a romantic/sexual relationship.

    When i originally read your title and questions, I'd thought this would be a thread disparaging anything that isnt a loli or some such.
    Instead, it is a well thought out, well reasoned, calm thread about an actual injustice, now that i think about it.
    I cant help but congratulate you and offer my support to your cause simply based on that, despite not being a lolicon myself.
    On that note, I'm still voting for the cats bc cats. :cookie:

    Because it's a cultural thing, much like how most isekai novels are based in "medieval European" settings, always complaining about the rice, or lake there of, the MC tries to impose Japanese cultural rules where ever they go. This is mostly because they are trying to appeal to other Japanese and not the populations of other countries. Just one more trope in a long list of cliches that make up the standard of Japanese novels.

    Why do not lolis get attention? Perhaps because the anime does not want to be shut down because of pedophilia? I know that some lolis only look like lolis but are old enough, especially in anime, but explain that to angry parents.

    Of course, I wouldn't read stories where loli neglect is a central aspect of the story.

    The stories I read have many other things I like and find entertaining. It just so happens that, as a side aspect in a few of them, the protagonist is a weak-willed loser who can't bring himself to fully appreciate his loli companion(s).

    It really gets on my nerves, but I'm not so weak that I'll drop a story I like over one minor detail. (like the protagonist who overlooks the best girl just because she's a loli)

    I, myself, have trouble disassociating the word from its origin, Lolita, a story about a pedophile.
