Actually in ~500 years it might be possible but at that point you wouldnt be human anymore you would be more of a robot. People die because their organs and heart and body get old and cant take it anymore, the brain however is fine no matter how much time passes. Therefore if you were a robot with a human brain you could live forever.

If you could become a true immortal and cant be killed no matter what from nuclear missiles to getting your soul destroyed by god ( if he/she exist) would you ??

And what would you do with eternity??

    1) No.
    There is Radioactive Decay.
The natural decaying of all atoms in elements.
    and Half Life
Where atoms undergo decay and identifies how long stable atoms survive.
If you aren't made of it.
Then maybe you can be immortal.

    2) Yes.
Energy cannot be created nor destroyed.

1 - Theoretically, Yes. Practically, No. Possibly in the future.

2 - Yes, Some type of jellyfish (it reverses its age and cintinues the cycle) and Lobsters (these bastards just keep growing and get bigger unless killed.

They would be considered as an biologically immortal.

Actually there are 3 immortalities in the foreseeable future. As for the timeframe, minimum 20 years or earlier if we reach the singularity. ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Technological_singularity)

Example of the 3 immortalities could be:
The rich will have unending bodies
The middleclass will have get by with cyber implants (Robotic arms/legs/lungs/heart and so on)
The poor will have to live virtual in a big server farm.

Oh and if you are wondering about immortal cells, we already have them. (4 min clip)

Wen Spencer's Elfhome series has a very good take on memories and aging.

In order to achieve true immortality, a cell's telomeres need to be prolonged and prevented from reducing past a certain point. They reduce slightly upon each cell's reproduction. About every seven years is how long it takes for each type of cells in the body to have a full cycle of replacement. So there'd need to be a drug that could extend the telomeres every seven years at least.

As for memories, there could be a neural map done every decade or so to have a snapshot of the brain. A computer could then index and catalog them. For the important memories, you could do a daily video diary if you're obsessed and have this indexed as well, including tags for quicker reference.

In the Elfhome series, they did a yearly remembrance ritual of things you wanted to keep that you were happy about, and another that you were feeling bitter about. This helped you polish those memories you wanted to keep and felt were important. So, thousands of years later you wouldn't forget why you are the way you are.

    Longevity is possible.
    Immortality isn't.

    All things will end eventually.

    *immortality

And yeah, non-aging will be. Aging is like a disease pretty much that can be cured if we had the technology and knowledge

well, I wouldn't want to be immortal, at least not alone
I mean I don't doubt that humans will find a way to extend their life spans, it's inevitable give the technical progress we've made so far, we're already living way longer than people in the past, but true immortality? Without aging? It'll take some time for that to happen
Besides, it gets boring if you live for too long, I'd rather get reincarnated somewhere

there's three ways that immortality could happen that i can think of
    1. we upload our consciousness onto a computer bodies for that kind of immortality.
    2. we transplant our memories and switch our bodies into a cloned body
    3. or three we learn how to stop our cells from degrading and never age

    immortality it's impossible
longevity, it's possible....but no more than 200-300 years because the brain will decay....after all brain cell doesn't change like skin, muscle and other organ....

Too many definitions of immortal. need more clarification.

As for being immortal & 'alive', we don't know.
As for being spiritually immortal, join a religion / cult and try it out.
As for being known forever, become famous for something really amazing.

Not proven, we dont even understand gravity claiming to understand entropy in a still expanding universe is silly.
    Not proven
World isnt even close to overpopulated just huge division between wealthy and poor, no reason to restrict immortality amongst 1st world.

i don't know if immortality exist or not, but you can try and see if its exist or not.

just follow the basic rules from wuxia LNs, ''cultivate'' . and you might find out. or you can even try the starting practice from ST (external way to increase strength), and try breaking your limits. ;DD
and if you don't find it, then i don't think there would be a way to increase longevity ;DDD
