Hey guys, i have been reading many novels up until now and in almost all modern and a slice of life novels MC doesnt know how to speak English.
    For example:
    I’m Really a Superstar
    9 Heavenly Thunder Manual
    Royal Roader on My Own
    Swallowed Star
    The Black Card

    The Skill Maker
Do you think is there any reason to it?

To a non-native, it Is pretty hard. It's got stupidly complicated grammar (though French and German manage to be worse), lots of exceptions to all its rules, and pronunciation like this:

Cause they are Chinese. English has the alphabet system while Chinese has a logographic system.
In logographic systems symbols represent the words themselves - words are not made up of various letters as in alphabetic systems. Therefore, Chinese have difficulty reading English texts and spelling words correctly.

Most aspects of the English phonological system cause difficulties for Chinese learners. Some English phonemes do not exist in Chinese; stress and intonation patterns are different.

I really don't think that is this hard, actually I think is pretty much easier to learn than another languages, I mean, I'm brazilian and I know to speak english and I've never done any course to learn it. Now, I trying to learn mandarim and that is hard. My teacher said if you spend 4 years to learn a language like english or spanish you'll spend at least 6 or 8 years to learn mandarim or japanese.

English is very hard to learn if you haven't learnt a language that uses an alphabet from which all the words can be formed.

If you are from a country like France, learning English isn't too hard because your language shares quite a lot of sentence structures and also you don't need to learn a new alphabet.

In my view, the greater the difference in formation and structure of sentences between your language and English, the harder English is to learn, because you are having to go completely against the structure you've learnt when speaking/writing/reading a language.

Even though it’s not the hardest language to learn I still believe that American English is one of the most nonsensical languages in the world.

English is a very hard language indeed. Its what you get when you crossbreed Celtic, Latin, Saxon, Norse, Norman, French and Indian together. Its a bastard of a language, literally

Those are actually not the main difficulties for Chinese nowadays. Most Chinese have learned Pinyin nowadays (which uses the alphabet to show how a character is pronounced), so they have some grasp of the alphabet. It's mostly the grammar. Chinese language doesn't need to conjugate verbs at all for example, and for tenses you just stick on a particle and you're done with it. English sentences can also be twisted in all sorts of ways, whereas it's more straightforward in Chinese grammar.

That's because Portuguese and English come from the same-ish family of languages. Obviously you'll have an easier time learning English if learning your native language allowed you to skip 70% of the work.

it depends on how close/similar to the structure/grammar of the native language to the foreign one.
if you find english easy, try learning chinese or japanese. that is how they feel when learning english or other languages.

The most important thing to learn a language is the will to learn it, if you don't want to learn it but you must(forced like in school), you will learn it really slowly
