I guess there's the creepy stuff that makes you think about weird stuff and can make it hard to sleep at night or the like, but is there ever anything that would actually make you scared while you're reading it?

I've seen a few horror themes, the beginnings of Way of the Devil before the MC got OP for example, and I could imagine how the scenes would be if it was a movie, but if you ask me if I actually got scared... Not really.

Though to be fair I was never much for horror in the first place, since the ones I've seen are more disgusting and gory than scary (think saw for example).

It is very much possible. Creating such a novel requires considerable effort however since creating such a mood is highly difficult. It also requires a novel which enables a very high grade of immersion. Stephen King, for example, is mostly famous for his horror novels.

Horror is meant to overwhelm the sense of sight and hearing so it won't work on books since you can never overwhelm your own senses on your own.

one arc in doomsday wonderland i think the name is kisaragi station?? i think that's it before the MC got the gist of how it is in that world while i was reading the time where she was ignorant of that world i was so fcking scared like every time i read a chapter and the updates are generally 12 midnight so i was sweating as fuck when i read it and it super dark where i was sleeping then so it added a scary factor to me.

I'm saying this stuff cause its really good hahahaha not just because I'm a scaredy cat you know at one point in my life i also craved horror i scoured the whole NU for scary novels and i even watched all pewdiepie's horror games video which btw the resident evil game was my fav.

I think it depends on how immersed you are.. and it would be possible when you can't even differentiate between fiction and reality.. ;)

Only master writers can portray horror through novels, the good ones give you a sense of dread and a lingering fear.

Yes, just Very Hard, and also depend on the readers, like maybe those that like the novel enough to self-insert themselves and immense in it or something.

    Not sure..
Maybe cause I haven't read one really scary horror novel..
Maybe closer to disgust for the character/what happen in the story(?)
