is it that hard to tell the readers that you(some translators) are going to not post a chapter for a while? i mean you could always just tag in a random excuse even if you are rlly just lazy to translate and most readers will accept that. but why would you just randomly disappear from the face of the earth when we(readers) need you? and please don't say the reason you disappeared AFTER you disappeared. it's rlly annoying because now that information is outdated and useless. unless the reason you disappeared is because something really important or because some sudden turn of events please don't disappear without any information. a lot of people will be worried you know? whether they are worried for you or for the novel is another thing tho.

please don't be offended if i was being too needy. just complaining.

Actually...yes. If you put that button down there, you're responsible for maintaining it. When it inevitably breaks, you have to fix it. And when you do a site change and they all break, that's a nightmare. It's also a pain in the ass pulling the address for the previous chapter, and updating the next button for said previous chapter. Basically, you need like 10 more clicks when you could have just hit the "publish" button.

But more often than not, people are willing to undertake this courtesy service and they just forget. Then it falls on you, the reader, to catch this and take the time to notify them.

Because some translators have life behind the internet as well. They are either students or employees, they aren't like us(NEETS). They became busy.
If you're a translator, would you rather prioritize this novel or your study?

Me? The novel. I have a Masters in procrastination so if I can find some excuse to put off something important, you can be sure that I'll take it and run with it.

If you have to choose between 1min of editing a link and 1min of studying then:
    a) your grades are already fucked... 1min stuyding won't help you anymore
    b) you shouldn't be translating in the first place..........

You do realize procrastination has many concentrations? Apparently I have high stats in BSing, applying for an extension, all-nighter "genius", and getting enough work done in the least amount of time.

Yes, at least for me. I still didn't understand how to make those 'next chapter' button and now I am waiting for my little bro to fix it.

As someonw who once add a next button to one or two chapter, yes, they are a pain.

I have never once in my life think that it would be that much pain in the ass to add a very simple thing. I love next button as much as everyone else, but after the experience I just can't scold someone who don't want to do that.

The first can actually be quite hard and a hassle.

The second just shows who has basic common decency. I'll give it a pass if they're in a coma, can't physically post their status or w/o internet access.

You normally create a template button that points to a "no more chapters" page and later just edit the link? Did you create them all manually?

Actually its quite easy. You just need to sort out your chapters and add a number to link. Then add those next button and … to the theme and code it to simply +1 the number in link for next and -1 for previous.

Just normal translator don't have the knowledge to design a web owo

although i like the next button/link as much as the next guy, i could live without it if it wasn't such a pain to get to the next chapter without it.

with most sites, when a translator/editor publishes a chapter, it's a date stamp url. this makes it pretty much impossible to go to the next chapter through simple url modification if you've been putting off the series or have just started it and it has a lot of chapters. so you either have to backtrack to the toc, but often the toc isn't properly updated. and the site isn't properly organized so you can't find post history to get to the chapter. so now you gotta fucking google that shit and hope your search history doesn't fuck you.

so yeah. if we can't have a next button, i'd like a simple url where all i need to do is simply change a number or 2 and hit enter. or an up-to-date toc thats been properly collapsed and organized so i don't have to scroll down for 10mins to get back to that chapter.

It's been a while since i last worked on a website, but generally speaking you can decide how the site formats a new page/link when it is created. For example wordpress has a setting in the admin panel that lets you decide the format of each new page you post

not all translator are good in programming site, even if they are, they would waste time, a lot of it, time better spent in translating whatever you are reading there.
sometimes RL comes knocking into your door, or you just got tired of everything which makes the leeches the last thing to worry about.
to translate a full chapter takes 2 to 6 even more hours, and you are complaining of having to click some more times or do a fast google search??
