Before anything else, if you didn't read the latest chapter of the webtoon, then don't continue if you don't like spoilers, and even if you read the novel, then go and read the latest (chapter 80) before you read this, as it would give you a better idea about what I am talking about. So anyway, I thought about this ever since the first time it was mentioned but now that it was clearly drawn and even mentioned, I think this might be a reference to the Hunter X Hunter chimera ant arc Spoiler: Look at these two images Spoiler: Now look at these images See the resemblance? Granted, one is colorized and the other is not, one looks fine and the other is not, but I think this is a reference. As to why I think that and of course aside from them being both giant ants: They would look almost the same later (in anime version as it is colorized) That ant 'succeeded in reaching the land without dying' and it is a japanese island Both scenes seems to be by the shore Only one ant survived and arrived Therefore I am almost certain that this is a HxH reference
What about now? if they still don't appear, they are the two last pages of the webtoon Solo leveling/I alone level up
I'm ashamed to say that I haven't read hxh, but I do see a lot of people saying lots of Korean authors copy from it (in particular the chimaera arc which, if I'm not mistaken, is what that ant guy is a part of). Just going off of that, I'd say it's probably not a coincidence (maybe that specific page being similar is a coincidence, but the overall concept probably isn't).
Might be... but so what- kinda? Many people are fan of hxh, perhaps that artist is a fan as well. Or sometimes you see something but forget where you saw it and think it’s your own idea? Anyway I remember like ten years ago I was very excited when I “discovered” that Rihana’s SOS song had similar music to Soft Cell’s tainted love. I remember at that time I was really outraged by the plagiarism, but now the copy catting is left and right. At least HxH is good stuff to copy... (not that you should copy without the original author’s permission and all that)
It could be a reference. It could a homage. It could be a coincidence. Maybe the image from HxH scene remained in the webtoon artist's subconscious mind and when he had to draw this part, the image came to the surface without him connecting it to something he's read a while ago. The fact that it's on a Japanese island, could be a reference to the HxH manga that the artist found clever. I might have missed it, but what's the title of the webtoon?
