Hi. So, I live in China now (and hopefully for quite a long time to come), and have met a lot of people. And the level of english.. varies, a lot. From weak levels of "we can only text and use a translator" to quite a decent conversation. And that mostly concerns adults aged +20. Majority being in few basic words of understanding and that is it. Sometimes hard for me mentally.. My chinese is even worse (more like it doesnt exist). So, let's talk about today. For the first time in China, I met someone who can speak on my level (c2) which is the top in regards of speaking. But, the shocker is (and the person wouldnt be a genius without it), that person is a 8 year old girl. SERIOUSLY!!! When I spoke to her the conversation was so fluent, that if I turned around for a second in the other direction and heard her speak, I would think she is an adult. (and before there is some she might not be chinese or one parent is a foreigner.. nope. pure chinese) This level of genius regarding language comprehention at such an age is astonishing. And Ive met kids of same age with a foreigner parent, their english was weak. So.. My mind is blown. I am extremely confused. Oh yea. One more cute thing from her.. She told me what she wrote to Santa for this years crishtmas. She either wants: A time machine Wings (I recommended her a jetpack) A salt water purifier so it can extract salt and the water can be drinkable. A GENIUS. I'LL GO AND KILL MYSELF NOW Sorry, I just felt like sharing
You can learn languages more easily when you're younger. She must've spent a lot of effort on her english. Good for her
I remember my Filipino coworkers were getting all giddy over an online video of a young white child speaking perfect fluent tagalog. Anyways, in psychology and social development it is the LAD stage, language acquisition device that typically occurs between 8-10 years old (I think?) which makes learning new languages much easier for them. After this stage it tends to be more difficult to learn languages. This was a part of the reason why Canadian schools (at least in Ontario) changed the mandatory learning of French language as a second language from being taught in grade 6? to much younger grades.
sound like innocent loli.... someone please expose her with hot BL doujin!!!!! p.s Rather than thinking she is a genius, i did rather think she able to learn think easily due her young age, assume your brain as sponge as you get older, it will be harder to absorb new thing.. such a child should able to take and learn easily if such a thing interest her when you grow older, there is too many distraction that would hinder you from learning new thing... like me for example, i try to learn Japanese when i not working or sleeping, but i would rather F5-ing NU, some manga reading site, FB, Twitter and some Erotic novel site if i not playing games and eroge
Wow thats really cool, so smart >_< *psst* Someone call the lolicon police, someone should tell that little girl to not talk to strangers. He called her cute and asked what kind of presemt she likes.
I learned both Chinese and English at pretty much the same time. In fact, my Chinese was probably better than my English until I was 7-8 years old. Just because she can speak two different languages at 8 doesn't make her a genius.
she started when she was 5. i couldnt! she came to my school. her parents were.checking if they.can sign her up here.. my.answer was nope..
1. Yeah, she's a genius. Best regards to her, hope she'll continue working hard. 2. Her parents probably also enrolled her in those international schools you find in China where they speak the school's main language is English. If you're Canadian, it would be similar to the French immersion schools (outside Montreal of course) we have here. 3. How are you gonna live in China without any knowledge of Chinese?! Good luck, I hope you will survive.
In my country, the only one who can do that is a celebrities child to the point it's not weird for those child in this era to be fluent in English Yet at the same time, there's a lot of celebrities that is suck, that they only knew the basic Quite weird for me
